**Official Interview/Acceptance/Rejection Thread 2013-2014**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This was their advice in the email (which I assume was the same for everyone):

"In general, it is helpful to strengthen one’s academic background, especially in the hard sciences. Successful re-applicants in the past have also completed graduate programs or post-baccalaureate programs which are specifically geared to helping students achieve success in their dental school or medical school applications. Retaking the dental admissions test may also be helpful, but this is only one factor in evaluating a candidate’s application. "

LOLLLL. okay Western I'll think about doing that...

Oh wow, so many Western rejections.. Maybe I will get my letter soon, too. I have heard NOTHING from them.

Quick question, I was waitlisted at 2 schools (Pre-December interviews), I also have a post-December interview coming up. I received my interviews prior to the academic update (my GPA at the time was a 3.4, Honors Biochemistry major). This past semester before graduation was really tough with my senior level chemistry courses and a full-time job (I got 2 C's). My GPA will probably drop .1 points resulting in a 3.2-3.3 oGPA. I scored a 20 AA on my DATs. My worry is since my GPA has dropped and I was already waitlisted will these schools now turn me down indefinitely? Where do I stand here guys. Thanks for your honesty and thoughts. I appreciate your help.

Interview Invite: BU (12/6), Pitt (12/17) & USC (12/18)

I just received an email for an interview to UMich for 1/24 and i was wondering if theres a high probability that i wont get in since im OOS (florida) and my interview date seems to be the last one. im really grateful for the opportunity but i also know that even if i get waitlisted, there will be hardly any movement on the list. thanks!

how do you know it's the last interview date?

I was looking through the Official UMich Class of 2017 thread and they said that the last interview is usually the end of January since classes begin in June.

ohh I see. best of luck then! I remember reading that a few people were actually accepted from the last interview date 🙂

Invited to interview at USC in Jan or Feb (was sent the email notification last week). I'm excited about it, but I'm contemplating if going would be worth it at this point. If it were a pre-Dec interview it would have been a totally different story! Hmm

I don't have any post-dec interview invites. However, if I did I would also be hesitant about accepting any invites, unless the school was vastly better or cheaper than where i'd been accepted. Interviewing is expensive, and it's a huge hassle.

$$$$
I personally would turn down the USC invite... I think they're the most expensive school in the country. At least the top five in cost.

Any chance we wait listed folks see any movement the next couple of days or do you think schools hold off until Thursdays after the deadline for first round acceptances and the holidays?

Its possible some schools are doing work in the interim between holidays. I got a response regarding updates from Colorado on Friday. But I will bet that each university will have their own plan.

uconn rejection by email.

no interview.

Just got the call about an hour ago... got accepted at OSU off the alternate list!!! So excited, relieved, and blessed! So thankful to God, my family, and all my friends that I know personally and here on SDN. You guys have all been a tremendous help and encouragement to me.

Couldn't imagine before that this day would ever come, but now I can finally say, "I'm gonna be a dentist!!!"
