**Official Interview/Acceptance/Rejection Thread 2013-2014**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My little sister used to send me fake interview invite emails and I was so scared that the nyu acceptance was one of her pranks. I called her like 2 times just to be sure. I still won't believe it till the packet comes tho.

OMG, how mean! I'm so glad it's all worked out for you now!

UNC with scholarship! OOS applicant.
Oh boy, this is gonna be a tough decision...
I asked the UCLA folks, but what do you think made you stand out enough to earn a scholarship? As I said in that thread, my prior understanding was that scholarships were very rare. Congrats, though, that's quite impressive.

They only offered it to me after I told them that I was considering a few other schools and that money was a large factor in my decision. As far my application goes, I didn't have anything that was truly amazing (3.83 sGPA, 23 AA). Just well-rounded I guess. I will admit that my research experience and full-time job as an intern/assistant for an oral surgeon were major talking points during my interviews.

a 3.83 and a 23 is pretty amazing... Isn't a 23 like 98th+ percentile..?

It's amazing what you can get if you aren't afraid to politely ask (or at least politely imply), eh!? 😀 A huge congrats to you! You definitely have a hard decision in front of you. If you have any questions about UNC, feel free to shoot me a PM. I'd be more than happy to try and help.

Since you have a scholarship and UNC lets you switch to in-state after the first year, my guess is it would be a heck of a lot cheaper... 🙂

@AVB2104 They know you would get into ur state school !! which you did 🙂 I wish Minn would have cost like 300K.....I would have gone there in a heartbeat.

truedat.. lol

so is it pitt or udm for u???

Everybody asks me the same questions these days to which I reply: I wish I knew 😀 I will decide in the coming weeks since I am still researching etc. Both schools are top notch man. Almost 2.2 ~1 ratio of students to chairs for UDM ( if you consider hospital chairs) and 2~1 for Pitt.

I heard professors at pitt suck... Lol. I got an interview there but didn't bother attending.

Id pick udm if I were u.

Between Pitt and UDM I would pick UDM as well....better professors and easy to get patients

Succinct and to the point, while maintaining an injection of humor. I like it.

Easy to get patients is most definitely right but Pitt having bad profs.... ? My extensive research indicates otherwise 🙂

Finally got an interview at Temple February 12th!!

I called the admissions office today to make sure my application didn't fall into the garbage and the gentleman that answered the phone asked me a few questions and said, "alright, I just sent out your offer to interview." Definitely took me by surprise. I'm not sure if it was already in the works or a friendly call to inquire let them know that I really am interested. Either way I'm flying to Philly next Tuesday!!

What number did you call? I called earlier today and a nasty woman picked up and would only tell me to check aadsas

#6 Interview Invite from NYUCD through e-mail. Most likely won't be attending.

I interviewed with Pitt and my interviewer was a Biochem professor. He seemed nice and knowledgeable. I would love to have him teach my biochem in DS.
I think it comes down to personal opinions regarding whether the professors suck or not. Take advantage of the interviews and find out if the teaching style there fits you or not. It is possible other interviewees will attempt to discourage you from competing for that spot.

I talked to other interviewees who asked current students there during their interviews.

I interviewed at Pitt and I do not share your opinion, from talking to current students they didn't seem to have a problem with their professors. However; I was very concerned when D4 students in front of all the interviewees bluntly said that their clinical requirements were not enough and they do not feel ready for the real world.

I have the same concern. This seems to be true. If Pitt had the clinical training of UDM, the decision would have been alot easier.

The D4s at my interview with Pitt said the clinical requirements were fine, they just have difficulties receiving the patients for their specific requirements. The D4s also complained about the school's coordinating between patients and students.

SAME!!! 🙁
I called the main admissions number on the website. I spoke with a very pleasant gentleman. Maybe it was Brian, the Director of Admissions. I'm not sure, he didn't say his name when he answered. When I called back the same number to schedule the interview I spoke with a woman who was a little short but wasn't nasty. Guess I called at just the right time!
