I scheduled an interview date a couple days ago for Detroit Mercy for Nov. 16th, notified to schedule one a little over a week ago.

I guess I gotto forget about SF. Got the E-mail on 21st and have been under review since 9/30 as well but they didn't call me up... 😳

+1 (got the email on 9/22, status changed on 9/30)

case, nova, asdoh (i don't know what this means "Received/Application Denied test")
all by snail mail. saw nova on aadsas before i got the letter.

deferred from iowa (by email)

"under review":
uic, siu, creighton, marquette, tufts

illinois resident, application submitted 6.5.10 (in first mailing)

I wonder what the means for ASDOH...some say denied test and some say complete test..hmmmm
 
USC interview today. Soo i got that letter sayin my app is deferred till april but i got an email invitation today. dont lose hope
 
I got the "Received/Application Complete test" on my AADSAS too. I hope that may lead to an interview.. I checked their online portal thing and nothing has changed since Septemer.

so I emailed UCLA to see if the have any pre-Dec interviews left and this is the response I got:
As of today, we have contacted the applicants who were selected for an interview in November. However, if any space becomes available, I will email a few others in approximately one week.

yeah im in the same boat as you...waiting to hear from LA. but keep your head up. LA is a competitive school and is known to be pretty slow with the admissions process so dont trip too hard about it. There is still a good chance for a post-dec seat

Random side note:

Thanks so much! I'm a first-time applicant (I took the DAT after I graduated college). The email told me the date and time of the interview, so I'm not sure that they have pre-dec. spaces open, but I can only assume that they have many since I got a Nov. 17th interview. I hope that helps, snaggletoof 🙂

Today i was thinking about it and I was wondering if they were testing how the statement appeared in the column? I know that's silly... but I can't figure out what else "test" would mean? Its showing up in a separate column as the rest of the statuses. It says "application denied" in the "status" column then says "Received/Application Denied test" in the "status defined" column. Maybe its a new usage of that column?

(regardless, doesn't change the 'denied' aspect!) 😉

thats great for me, there is still hope! im feel pretty confident that i will still get another chance since they sent me the email asking me to tell them what i have done to improve my application since last cycle. it might be post dec 1st but thats ok. according to predents they have only given out a handful of interviews to maryland residents also. thanks again mazmel. gook luck on your interview. i will freezing my butt of in buffalo on the 18th. congrats on getting interviews on every school you applied to, awesome!

University of Buffalo invite today, weird that it's a sunday. Haven't scheduled it and probably not going to be attending it but still nice to have. 😀

Yeah, I got a continuing review email like at the end of September I believe. But I retook my DATs at the end of September and they got sent mid-October. So I think they re-reviewed my app and decided that I should get an interview.
 
I have reached a weird place when it comes to dental school applications. At first I was checking my email, AADSAS, and this thread non-stop for information about interviews. After not hearing a peep for like a month and a half my doubts are taking over and now i avoid checking. Amidst the doubts I try and keep telling myself that even if I don't get accepted this cycle, I know that I want to be a dentist. I will keep trying until I succeed and nobody is going to stop me. Good luck to everyone! Keep your head up!

hey, just because you haven't heard anything doesn't mean you will not get an interview. I felt the same way...and then got 2 interviews (very recently). I don't think you need to check this site religiously, it will probably just make you more worried when others get interviews. I know a lot of people who haven't heard from any schools yet, so don't worry! If you don't have a lot of extracurrics/shadowing experience, get some and update schools that helps (the dean of one school told my friend that). If you want to be a dentist you will be 🙂

Also, with the one more month wait, instead of hoping to hear more interviews, started debating whether should think of the bright or the dark side.... feel cool outside but turn very insane inside....
 
NYUCD interview (SO thankful!)... My app complete email was received on Sept 17th. They still have a lot of interview spots open in November.

Does NYU send invitations through email? My appl was also completed on Sept 17th..maybe I got passed on!!

To Hoylemat: A lot of schools are still offering interviews. I have friends who got interviews in March last year and started dental school a couple of months ago. Coming on here does get into you after a while though ( I constantly get there myself) because a lot of the SDNers are very competitive applicants. However you are following your passion and nothing can stop you. Don't loose hope.

Appreciate it man! I will never give up. I have already started thinking about the dark side, and my response to that has been to strengthen my application now for the possible truth. I have been volunteering at a free dental clinic in town and going around town trying to recruit dentists to donate a few hours a month to help the underprivileged. So far its been a humbling experience to see some of the cases that present. Just keep looking forward, I say!
