It sounds like the guy was accepted, perhaps he determined the school just wasn't a good match at all after interviewing there?

It does kind of surprise me when people turn down interviews for no reason at all. May as well not apply to the said school! 😕
 
Ppl turn down interviews for good reason bc they don't think it's a good choice to fly outthere
And everyone applies to many schools bc this process is somewhat random and u don't know which schools will interview u. Once you have like 5+ lined up then you can choose which ones u like the most 🙂
let's not hate on high achieving students and there's nothing wrong with letting us know about their decisions bc some ppl waitin on their top choices might want to know ppl are freeing up spots for them 🙂

My UoP status still says under review. I guess this might be because I applied back in Oct.

Francis, like I said in my previous post: I am sometimes surprised by people that apply to schools with the firm intention of turning them down.

In your case, you had perfectly legitimate reasons. 🙂

It says that I'm invited for an interview but I have to wait until I get the letter in the mail to choose my interview date. Considering it's the weekend I probably wont be receiving this letter until mid- next week.... so I want to get an idea of what dates I should be expecting.

What wantVCUdental said. It's meant to be encouragement and to tell the people waiting for a spot that one has freed up. I know I used to check this thread frequently to see who was getting interviews at what schools just to get a feel for where the schools were in the process.

I certainly don't feel too good for any dental school. I would attend every interview if I could... I am thankful when any school considers me because I need them much more than they need me. Thing is, I'm still a full-time student and I can't keep missing class every week. Professors' patience is wearing thin and it's having a negative effect on me.

When we apply, we have no idea how many interviews we will get so we try to give ourselves the best chance we can to get in. I don't think anybody applies with the intention of turning anywhere down.

This forum is full of really awesome people. I identify with a lot of people on here because of our common goal and I appreciate the ones who helped me before I knew anything about the process. So after all those posts about someone declining somewhere, I hope someone follows up with a post about hearing from a school they had really been waiting and hoping for. I am sorry if my comment bothered anybody or was insensitive. Wasn't my intention. I want the best for everybody. 🙂

Mailing date (w/DAT) was Aug 20th. The letter was dated Nov 4th. My stats are similar to yours so, depending on your mailing date, you should probably hear from them soon! They interview Thurs and Fri and only had post-Dec 1st dates when I called. When I called, they had Thurs interviews in Dec but the earliest Fri interview was in Jan.
 
Interview: 11/19 with University of Nebraska College of Dentistry -- just got my call like 20 minutes ago & going shopping for clothes later today! 🙂

Midwestern U-Illinois rejection via snail mail yesterday. That makes 5 rejections and 1 interview from OSU. At least I feel like my interview at OSU went really well, and it's my number 1 choice to begin with.

I scared to check the mail every day. :scared:

But on the upside, an interview at OSU seems to often result in acceptance (more so than other schools)! :luck:

yeah i got rejected from MWU Illinois too yesterday, via snail mail.
kinda sad, knowing i'm not competitive enough for a brand new school haha

You were probably rejected b/c they know you are OVERLY qualified applicant and probably wont attend that school. You are too darn good for them.

Harvard is finally giving out interviews. I got mine Monday. They're inviting people to come ASAP this weekend and they have around 6 interview days in December. They're playing catchup.

UoP invite also on Wednesday. They haven't gotten to the alternate spot interviews yet. Keep the hope alive!
 
I also got an email from Colorado saying my application will be rereviewed later on. Anyone else get that?

eh? i am "overly qualified"? my gpa's below average, my DAT is above average, and I'm an international applicant and NOT a minority.
My choices of schools is very limited, and I would take whatever one accepts me!

I think it is because you are International !! They have this rule that as an International, you have to have the whole $350K in the bank account before the start of the first year.

I have a feeling that they don't think that many people will be able to do that.
 
Whewwww.. I really don't know why I haven't heard back from NYUCD. it seems like people who got their apps mailed later than mine (8/6) got interviews... I called them two days ago and the lady would say that "I'm not in front of the computer, so I don't know, but probably your app is still under review"...

What is your stat like?
 
I just got a UW secondary email today, I didn't think I would hear from them it's been so long. They give you a couple weeks to fill it out at least and the deadline is Dec. 15th.
 
UPenn rejection via snail mail yesterday (11/17)

NYUCD interview invite via email this morning (11/18) and scheduled for 12/9. (FYI: they said they have available spots during the first two weeks of December) Anyone else scheduled for the 9th?

Still no status update from UoP on my aadsas page.

I met someone in my grad program that did that. She got into dental school last cycle, but decided to do a masters and reapply to see if she could get into a better one this cycle...
 
just got NYU for Nov. 30! I probably won't make Dec. 1 right 🙁

check out predents, looks like someone last year interviewed on dec 1st and got accepted on the 5th. there was also someone who interviewed on the 30th of nov but didnt update their record. :luck:
 
Does anyone know how often Tufts send out their interview invitations...? Maybe they are already done sending out invitations?? :scared:

I have had 2 interviews: one in my state which gives preference to IS and i'm at their Undergrad school now, and another at NYU. I'm terrified for Dec 1st!:xf: I don't have the time to go through previous posts/stuff like that on here, so can anyone give me any insight on previous applicants who have had only 2 interviews, and their acceptance rates? Or any idea on how many people NYU interviews per seat?
My gpa is pretty low, and DAT wasn't amazing ..applied to 10 schools, rejected from 1 so far (application was in much later than they had asked), but no other interviews 🙁

Also- did anyone else send in a check to Tufts and it still say "not received" on aadsas? I sent it in Oct 26th...its been a while.

I sincerely doubt it they interview usually all the way through march....and i am not just saying that because i want an interview there and don't have one yet lol....but srsly it says somewhere on their website or something that they have a lengthy interview process.
 
Oh, sorry. I meant snail mail... dctim211, you never got anything from PENN saying your application was complete through snail mail? They just sent a rejection letter?

lol your position is better than mine

my fee payment is still "not received" since early August... :scared: Called them and they told me everything is in so don't worry about the AADSAS update.

I think you should call them.

Congrats on the invite to UW! I just got a rejection letter from them a couple of days ago. I'm not too disappointed because I figured it was a long shot. Good luck!
 
Any news from USN ? The first set of interviews was suppose to go out today !!
 
Just received a phone call from Dr. Bill Harman, interview at USN on December 10th!! Yeah baby!!!!!
