Hi April 2006 MCATers,

Some posters have requested that we have one serious thread where only announcements and information about the April 2006 MCAT score release are posted. This thread is it. After the scores are released (on JUNE 20TH!!!), y'all can post your scores in here as well. But in the meantime, please while away the time in the Official April 2006 thread so that we can avoid cluttering this one up with unrelated posts. As always, please remember that false score release posts and threads are a no-no, and good luck to everyone waiting. 🙂

PS: 10
VR: 11
BS: 13

1. Your Form (If you remember): BG (i think)

2. Your Practice Score Range: 34-38 by the end

3. What you used to Study: Princeton Review Classroom course, Audio Osmosis

4. How do you feel right now? That's the lowest score I've ever gotten on PS and I knew I messed it up the day of the test...really wish I didn't lose those 2 or 3 points...a 36-37 would have looked real nice...nothing unexpected I suppose.

35R, friends. I am pleasantly pleased!! Congrats to all and good luck! :luck:

in the same boat, not sure if this 7 is gonna fly - debating about a retake

Talk with REL or with the other USF admissions staff that I gave you info for a long time back. Also talk with the other Florida schools and see what their take is on the matter.

You might not need to retake it, and they may tell you to go ahead and apply with the caveat that you may be high tier waitlisted at first but still be in a position where you'll get in. I'd make an appointment as soon as possible with them. Good luck.

Contratulations Everyone! It has been a long rough wait and it sure is nice to see the finish.

My scores: 13 VR, 7 PS, 10 BS, R WS (30R)

I am very excited about the VR of course, but am concerned about the PS. I havn't had Physics in 10 years, literally. So it was rough. Do you think this will fly with a mid-tier school? Have to re-take? I am happy with a 30 but would appreciate any thoughts about the unbalance.

Congrats!!! A very decent score!!!

Tough decision, 32Q is a good score depending on the rest of your app.

11VR, 11PS, 10BS, P

1. Your Form (If you remember): Don't remember sorry

2. Your Practice Score Range: 30-35

3. What you used to Study:

G-Chem: Kaplan
Physics: Nova physics (this book is great)
Bio: Kaplan
Orgo: EK
Verbal: EK

4. How do you feel right now? Awesome!!!

33Q!!!

11 VR
10 PS
12 BS

WOOOO. That 12 came out of nowhere, and I expected a little higher in verbal, but I am NOT complaining.

CONGRATS ALL!!
😀 😀 😀

can you guys believe it's over already? well i guess it's actually just begun, but we have our scores! this is such a weird feeling... 😀

My MCAT score sure shows that reading, writing, and understanding are beyond my level...but at the same time I am DAMN good at science!!!
VR 11
PS 14
WS M (WTF??)
BS 13 (Better than ANY practice)
So I got a 38M

Congrats to all of you who just 'finished'. Now you get to start on the year+ long journey we call the 'application process'!

Hey guys can we keep the tradition from last year:

Here are the things I want you to fill out:
1. Your Form (If you remember):
2. Your Practice Score Range:
3. What you used to Study
4. How do you feel right now????? Ecstatic, Neutral, Disappointed, etc.
Any other comments you'd like to make.

42 O: 14/14/14
1. AN
2. 34-39
3. Kaplan
4. Stunned in an insanely happy way. I must have lucked out with some guesses on the BS; I had no right to expect anything better than an 11 on that section, and I was hoping 12-13 on the others. Anything that pulls up the 2.8 GPA I graduated with is good!

32R

PS: 11
VR: 11
BS: 10
WS: R

1. Your Form: EM

2. Your Practice Score Range: None attempted

3. What you used to Study: Got "The Gold Standard MCAT" for christmas. Read through it ~15 times, did practice exams week before actual test.

4. How do you feel? Awfully good. I've never taken organic chem before, so I just kinda winged it (and did pretty badly, EM had lots!), more later, it's bar time!!!

33R

11/11/11

Never got that low on any Kaplan or AAMC practice test in VR. But, topped out at 10 on all practice tests in PS. Pretty pleased.

37Q

13 PS, 12's on VR, BS

1. Your Form (If you remember): BL
2. Your Practice Score Range: 26-33
3. What you used to Study: PR
4. How do you feel right now????? Pleased, cause I studied my tail off, but still a bit nervous b/c my undergrad gpa is 2.84. I have reason to believe I now have a chance, but not a strong one.

Thanks to all the posters on the countdown thread! Y'all kept me afloat. 😍

VR: 7
BS: 13
PS: 11
31O <-- (Princeton instructors used to give me Ns).

1. Your Form (If you remember): No Idea what so ever.

2. Your Practice Score Range: Started 21 (V=3!), Last: 32 (same spread, 14 bio..)

3. What you used to Study:

a. Princeton Material / Classes
b. Exam Krackers Audio Osmosis
c. Exam Krackers Course / Material (Bio is insane good!)

Verbal: did lots of passages, but not enough I guess
G-Chem: Exam Krackers mainly
Physics: EK
Bio: Princeton/EK/Major (EK is more than enough)
Orgo: Pulled an all nighter night before MCAT studied Lab Techniques (EK book). Didn't really study Orgo.
(I started studying 1 year prior to the MCAT. I sat through the August one for "experience," don't recommend it.)

4. How do you feel right now? Confused. My parents tell me its a great score. I don't know if it is or not. I don't know. Should I be happy? I don't know if I can raise my verbal if I took it again. I didn't know what to expect. I'm confused, but definitely not sad or upset. (Not happy either). Writting Personal Statement... so maybe thats why I'm not happy right now. Can't be too happy while filling out AMCAS.

35M
PS 11
VR 11
BS 13

1. Your Form (If you remember): AH?

2. Your Practice Score Range: 27 diagnostic. Got 36,36,34 on last 3 Kaplan fulllengths.

3. What you used to Study: Kaplan and EK

4. How do you feel right now????? So f***in' happy its over! Go non-trads!

What's with all the low writing scores????????

12VR, 12PS, 11BS, P

1. Your Form (If you remember): AG (horrendous orgo section with tons of genetics experiments...probably why I did lower on BS than on all my practice sections. Hardest BS I ever saw.)

2. Your Practice Score Range: 32-35

3. What you used to Study:

G-Chem: EK
Physics: EK
Bio: Ek
Orgo: EK
Verbal: EK

Screw Kaplan. Huge waste of time and money. I went to one class, had a Greek teacher who hardly knew English, said forget this. Got my 75% refund (hurt a little), bought all the EK books, and didn't look back. I think my score speaks to EK's quality (and to the Lord's goodness). Many of my friends who took Kaplan didn't finish one or more sections.

4. How do you feel right now? Incredible that I have a 35, but slightly disappointed in my BS score considering it was only a point higher than my FIRST AAMC test I took cold turkey and 1-2 points lower than what I was scoring consistently. So glad it's finally all over.

premed machine is sitting in some tower somewhere laughing at all of us who scored below a 43T

3. What you used to Study:TPR, EK 101

4. How do you feel? GODDDDDDDAAAAAAMMMMMNNNNNIIIIITTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😡 😡

Matched lowest score ever on verbal and was averaging 10's and 11's with a couple of 12's thrown in on the EK book. Getting the regrade but I really think I must have misbubbled or some **** so I get to have another run in August. Yeah for me. 🙄

Congrats to all who busted their ass studying for this thing and got the scores they wanted, I'll catch up with y'all in the fall.

Peace,

Score: 30O

14 VR
8 BS
8 PS

1. I had form AR

2. I started with a 14 on my TPR diag, and I'm not kidding. I got a 20 on AAMC #8 and a 26 on AAMC #7

3. I took the TPR class and also used EK materials.

4. I'm happy with my score, and I honestly can't believe my verbal score. My highest practice verbal was a 10. I am really worried about my unbalanced score, but overall I'm really excited. I honestly never thought I would ever score higher than mid 20s.

1. Your Form (If you remember): AG

2. Your Practice Score Range: solid 35's...PS was always my lowest section--the best i got in a practice was a 12 so the 14 came out of left-field but i'm not complaining 🙂

3. What you used to Study: kaplan class and aamc tests

4. How do you feel right now????? Ecstatic, Neutral, Disappointed, etc.
Ecstatic. OVERJOYED!!!! when i looked at the screen i starterd screaming/hyperventilating/crying--my mom thought i was going to pass out...a little peeved about the O in writing...but overall i am ecstatic!!!

hhahahaha no he got a 39 and hurled himself from the nearest precipice

So my breakdown was
PS-9
VR-10
BS-9 (which is bull**** cause I was scoring 12's consistently in bio)
WS Q

28Q......ok so congrats to all of you who achieved your goals this time around. I must have misbubbled or something cause i don't understand my bio score. I have a 3.93 GPA and I attend to a very good college. Don't wanna take it again but will do whatever it takes. I would love some feedback. congrats again to all!

PS 10

i m very upset. cant believe i got only 10 in BS. Do u guys think I have shot with a 3.9 gpa? I m so frustrated right now. Sigh!

Score: 41R (12VR, 15PS, 14BS)
1. Your Form (If you remember): CK ? (I know there was a C)

2. Your Practice Score Range: averaged probably around a 37 for the last 3 weeks. My last and highest was a 39 on AAMC 8.

3. What you used to Study: Kaplan, AAMC tests, kaplan books, kaplan class but that was kind of useless

4. How do you feel right now? Ecstatic, Neutral, Disappointed, etc.
Somewhere between ecstatic and insane.....I was going nuts after I got the score and I had to go out for a run to release the energy....I don't think anyone is sleeping in my building right now...

well, I was hoping for the mid-30s range, but I know I didn't study hard enough to earn such a score.

32 P

phys sci: 11
vebal: 11
bio: 10
writing - P

good enough... I have good grades & experiences, so I should be doing alright for somewhere decient.

Score 380
P - 15 <- HOLY CRAP
V - 11 <- CAN'T COMPLAIN
B - 12 <- A little lower than what I avg. on practive test but I walked out of the test knowing I made some stupid mistakes so I'm not complaining

Form: AT

Practice Test Range = avg. a 37 on the Kaplan full lengths

What I used to study = Kaplan, AAMC tests

How I feel?
I feel great. I don't ever have to look at this stupid test again and I can teach every section for Kaplan this fall

31O
PS 11
VR 08
BS 12

For the 8 in verbal is about par for the all my practices.... never my strong subject as an engineer.

1. Your Form (If you remember): BK

2. Your Practice Score Range: Dont recall exactly - 9R was pretty close to these scores for sure

3. What you used to Study: TPR and examkrakers. Did all of the TRP Workbook and hit some of the more problem areas 3 or 4 times. JUST DO Problems LOTS of problems!!!

4. Relieved & HAPPY!!! For sure!!!

Good LUCK ALL

Congratulations to everyone!!! 🙂 👍
Best of luck with applications :luck:
I am a little sad 🙁

34R

PS: 11
VR: 12
BS: 11

1. Your Form (If you remember): ???? I forget

2. Your Practice Score Range: 37 on last 3 practice tests

3. What you used to Study: Princeton Review Classroom course

4. How do you feel right now? I'm sad. 🙁 I guess it's a decent score, but it is worse than my practice tests. That hurts 👎. I thought people often do better on the real thing. On the day of the test I thought I did very well in Bio, as in better than in practice, and I thought I totally rocked Verbal (14 or 15 seemed realistic to hope for in verbal). I was hoping for a 38 or 39.

So, who is retaking the exam in August? I am thinking about it. Before score release I said 38 and above no retake, 35 and below retake 36-37 tough call. Now I am not sure what to do with the 34. It was easier to say if I scored below 35 I would retake before I knew I scored 34. 🙄

+pity+ Sorry to whine about a decent score. I really needed a good score. I come from an unsual background (returning to med school at 32) and my undergrad grades were not stellar. 😳

1. Form CK or KR or QR... Who knows?
2. Practice score: 27-31
3. Kaplan Classroom

4. Im pretty pumped right now... So whats the consensus on the low Writing sections???? I hope its not a big deal. Of course I had to ruin my MCAT somehow! At least it wasn't in an important part.

38P 😀

12 PS
14 VR
12 BS

Kaplan all the way.

P.S. yes I am a lurker and have been following the posts since the day of the exam. Hope that all of you got more than you expected from your scores too! Good luck to everyone during the next phase.

****

I had form CK and got a 31Q

HOWEVER, my breakdown is HORRIBLE!!

14 PS, 12 BS, 5 VR....freaking Bullcrap I tell you.

Any suggestions...I have a 3.9 GPA and solid resume.

PS 11
VR 09
BS 13

13 in BS was my best score ever and I am ecstatic about that. PS was average and VR I'm happy about. Overall I am very pleased. Writing sample I could care less about because I only practiced it twice and writing sample shouldn't have much (if any) effect on admissions.

1. Your Form (If you remember): AG
2. Your Practice Score Range: 32 on 6 exams (Kaplan & AAMC) and 35 on AAMC 9
3. What you used to Study: Kaplan, Examcrackers, and independent studying. Kaplan is awful except for the books, which are good compliments to Examcrackers though. Examcrackers is the way to go and I wish I found them earlier (found them with a month to go in studying)
4. I'm very happy that the phase of MCATs is over and I just want to get into one of the 125 allopathetic schools.

Do remember, the people on SDN are freaks (in a good way) and are in the tip-top percentile. Anybody with a 30 and above fairs a good chance of getting into medical school. People shouldn't be so god damn choosey about what school they get into. What do you call a person who graduates from the worst medical school? A doctor.

Anyways, Good luck to all.
