ok, don't take this the wrong way, but I just had to say this.

This thread makes me horny <img border="0" alt="[Lovey]" title="" src="graemlins/lovey.gif" /> . And so does the Sinai thread in the Allopathic forum. This is my dream school.

Now do 2 letter of recs from doctors there and a case report and volunteering there give me a better chance at an interview? Have they sent out pre-interview rejections yet?

Dra. Foxy, maybe you should write a letter to them showing your interest. Hey it definitely wouldn't hurt.

I also don't think they have sent out pre-int. rejections yet.

I think there is still hope.

E'01 do you have an idea on Sinai's admissions process?? I've been waiting seven weeks for a decision and right now I'm kind of losing hope of getting in. Do you know if Sinai's class is full??

Vinsanity I wish I could tell you - but I have no clue as to what the admissions office is doing. All I know is that they are still interviewing since I see bunch of students on tours. Sorry I couldn't be more of help!

Actually I hate to think it - but maybe the process for URMs is different. They DID match both my interviewers by race (I'm Black) and I don't think that was coincidental. Maybe they are filling the URM and non-URM pools at different rates and times.

Actually, I might be in the URM group because I am Puerto Rican. My interviewers also seem to have been matched for me.

So I called them up two weeks ago and asked about my status and the lady told me I had been placed on the alternate's list and that something had been sent to me that I needed to fill out and send back. Well, I never received anything so today I called to check they sent it to the right address. It turns out I had never been placed on the alternate list and nothing had been sent to me. In fact, my app is currently with the committee and no decision has been made yet. So making the appropriate corrections to our list, deleting myself from the "waitlists" and adding to the "waiting to hear."

vinsanity, I interviewed in early November and found out last week that I was waitlisted. It took awhile for them to make a decision I guess. At least I now know where I stand.

Does anyone know if Mt. Sinai will let you know where you stand on the wait list? I called today but they are closed.

No idea Dr. L. calling them would probably be the best thing to do. Try calling them on monday.

As far as alternate list position at Sinai, it is technically a ranked waitlist such that each applicant has an assigned numerical score, but they do not adhere to that score strictly when they pull from the waitlist.

Kmy, are you a current student at Sinai?? Do you know how they select their students?? Their decisions seem really random. I interviewed about seven weeks ago and I still haven't heard a decision yet. Do you think my chances of getting in are slim??
