For all of you who took the exam in May:

This is the official score release thread for the May 2007 MCAT dates. Feel free to post serious information and announcements about the impending score release. You can post your scores in here when the time comes as well.

This post also serves as a warning to remind you guys that fake threads stating "SCORES ARE UP" will give you an automatic post hold for one week.

Best of luck to everyone waiting! :luck:

32Q
PS: 10 VR: 10 BS:12

I'm so happy, this was the highest of my practice scores which ranged 27-31
No more MCAT!!!! I can sell my ****!!!!

Just fyi my first diag was an 18
I was scoring 24's for like 2 months in utter frustration
Went up to 25-29 in the next month

Aug 16th MCAT

PS- 13
VR- 12
BS- 11
WS- Q

I feel like I'm the only person who did the worst on the bio section! Anyway, I am so so sooo happy with my score. I took the test early (before junior year) just in case I had to retake, but now I'm done with the MCAT forever 😀

Congrats to everyone else too!

aug 16
13 ps
8 verbal
11 bs

8 verbal sucks (was really hoping/thought i would get a 9 at least) but overall 32Q is good for me

previous mcat : 27N

PS: 9; a little dissapointed
VR: 11; a little surprised
BS: 13; about what I expected
WS: L dont care

33 L; overall the score i expected.

April 2006 (10,10,9) L (PS,VR, BS) WS

WOW 11 in verbal and L in writing, incredibly wierd🙂

I was really, really excited to see this kind of result, seeing as it's a 9 point gain from my last reported MCAT. What do you think the adcoms will think about a drop in WS from S to N?

30-O
VR 11
PS 9
BS 10

I'm so excited to have this behind me. I really studied hard so that I only would have to take it once and I'm pretty happy with my score.

i think SDN seduced me into thinking i could get a higher score... like everyone else.... :laugh:

has anyone ever gotten a 45 in the recent years...? not like in SDN specifically, but in general?

Ps-10, Vr-11, Bs-10 Ws-P

Can everyone take a look at my md apps, and let me know what my chances should be like?

I might as well post here too

31O

PS10 VR10 BS11 WSO

(the O kind of sucks, but i'm hoping it does not mean much overall) Does my 10 confirm that I am not inept at English? 😛

Aug 2006: 9V, 11P, 11B P-->31P

Apr 2007: 7V, 11P, 13B S-->31S

Sep 2007: 11V, 12P, 10B R-->33R

I'm not too sure what happened on the BS section since I thought I did the best on that. Then again, I'm not too sure what happened on the VR section since I had a rough time on that. The only relatively consistent score I've had has been PS.

I sure wish the med schools I am applying to would consider the highest from each section...11V, 12P, 13 B S--->36S 😎

Anyway, I'm content with my scores and now I hope I get some interview invites!

I had a similar encounter with that WS drop while everything else improved.
Last year: VR = 8, PS = 14, BS = 12, WS = Q
This year: VR = 9, PS = 15, BS = 14, WS = ... M
In all of my practice essays, I've been scoring in the P/Q range (according to my princeton review tutor). I think I f'ed up big somewhere (like read the prompt in the wrong way or something).

Hi everyone,

Let me fill you in on my background. I am a biochemistry major with a 3.99 GPA. I took the Kaplan course and consistently scored between 30 and 35. (normally like 10-12 physical 10-12 bio and 10-11 on verbal reasoning).

I took the MCAT in Sep and felt I did comparativly to the practice Kaplan. I felt I probably got a 12 Physical 10-11 verbal and 11 on the Bio.

I got my scores today and it was a 8 Physical 9 Verbal and 8 Bio - Q in the writing section. Thats a 25Q!

I noticed that the SS# on my THx page was not the number i entered, but 999-99-9999. Could this be an error that my have attribute to my suprisingly low score?

Also I know that there is a .0001% chance that there was some error in the grading since it was comptuer based, but do you think I should get it handgraded? What is your advise? The plan right now is to get it hand graded -after I find out what the deal was with my SSN - I would then study for the test and take it a 2nd time sometime in the summer.

The main reason I was so suprised with the scores was not just the low numbers on Physical and Bio, but I thought my essays were horrendous and I ended up with a Q which was not expected.

Thanks for reading the long thread, your advise appreciated.

Haha...yeah I don't write well under pressure. I need time to collect my scattered thoughts. Plus everyone says writing section doesn't matter.

The L did come up in one of my interviews.

I also had 999-99-999 for my SSN. I think it happens to everyone who doesn't enter their SSN when you register for the MCAT. Are you sure you entered it? It wasn't a required field.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother getting it hand graded. Unfortunately, these score drops happen to the best of us and it is simply about the curve of people that took it with you that day. Good uck with your app/retake.

Because of the social security number I would suspect that you have a different person's score! I would honestly get it regraded...and look into it a bit more.

11/15/14Q

Only read this page so I assume we're doing a quick blurb about ourselves?

My AAMC test averages were between 37-38, usually with Verbal dipping down to a 10 and PS dipping down to a 14.

I was a math/econ BS/BA double major in undergrad and did a post-bacc @ Harvard (HES), which I blame for part of my MCAT score - they prepared me very well. I was predicting somewhere around a 35 and was pleasantly surprised.

Feel free to ask - not really sure what else we're posting in this thread. 🙂

33M

10 = ps, 10 = vr 13 = bs

apparently I am not a good writer, but anyways... I am a little shocked with my results. My highest AAMC practice exam score was a 29, so I was praying to the MCAT gods for at least a 30 (guess the altar with the sacrificial lamb paid off). Ivy undergrad, hist/bio double major, urm. shooting for mayo... guess I should start praying again cause that's quite a reach. 😎

test date = sept 15
VR=13
BS=13
PS=14
writing =Q

I got my test scores finally! I was soooo nervous. Because it was a little last minute. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go into medicine but decided it's a good idea to get the pre-reqs and MCAT out of the way. So I was planning for an early Sept test date and studied ~ a week in August. But when I tried to register there were no more spots. So I kinda went back to not studying. And then my friend told me they opened up more test dates like 10 days before the test. And so I tried to study again. I actually didn't get to everything I wanted to cuz it was so rushed. But I guess I hit all the main points.....lol.....or I was lucky. Writing in particular I was concerned cuz I hate writing and I didn't really practice and on the day of, I couldn't think of what to write. But for me at least Q is good.....so I'm really happy. Now I have to decide if I'm going thru with applications. 🙂

15PS 11VR 14BS Writing - S
40S
My GPA: 3.3

Compared to practice test scores, PS was 2 points higher, BS was on the mark or one point lower, and VR went down 2 points. On practice tests I was a consistent 13 in VR, and my diagnostic for verbal was 12. So its unfortunate that I let the difficulty of the sept. 7th verbal section get to me to drop me below my diag score.

My GPA blows because I was able to get straight As in highschool without effort, and that trend unfortunately did not continue to University. With such an ingrained tradition of laziness university killed me. I always had the potential, never had the direction or the drive until the last 1.5 years. I worked my ass off for the MCAT, learned to distill test taking strategies by taking a massive amount of timed full lengths (22 total) in order to learn to attack the test itself. Knowing the material really is only 50% of the battle on the MCAT. If you want the 99th percentil, you have to learn to attack the test structure and question types themselves.
So here I am, I got my act together, and now I have a real shot (Thank god). I am going to murder medical school when I get there...hope that I see all of you someday in the hospital. Good luck to all.

For MCAT preparation:
I studied 40hrs a week (approx) for 4 months, and took the test on Septemeber 7th.
I took 22 full length exams, and had access to the older 'long' versions of the AAMC originals so I had some extra passages to practice with.
My AAMC practice trend was: 33 34 36 38 37 38 40 40 on 3CBT - 10CBT
I did a HUGE amount of post-game analysis. Figured out which question types I was sucking at, and learned to use POE on questions like you would not believe. You can get good enough at POE in PS that sometimes you can eliminate answers choices and answer questions without reading the question stem. Simliarly, in verbal you can sometimes answer specific question types without reading the passage or the question stem. I also had an advantage for this exam because my major (joint major in physics and physiology) is pretty much the best preparation you can have for the MCAT.

I graduated in two years with two degrees (biology and psychology w/ a chem minor) in 2005, took my first mcat (didn't study) and got a 19O.My undergraduate GPA suffered as a result of the high course load and was a 3.52 cum, however my science was a 3.07. I then took a year off of school and became a highs school teacher in a foreign country. When I arrived back in the U.S. I began a master's degree in biomedical sciences and have 1 pending first author paper coming up. My advisor is chair of a department at the medical school, and has written me an awesome recommendation letter along with 3 other professors. I studied a month for the mcat this year and recieved a 27R (VR 09, PS 07, BS 11). I have had many volunteering experiences including shadowing, research, and community work. I was also president of an organization. My current graduate GPA is a 4.0. Does anyone think I have any chance at getting accepted into an American school with my stats despite applying late (mid-October)?????

After waiting all these years and going through teaching and grad school, why don't you take another year to improve your MCAT?

With your MCAT/GPA you do not have a shot at US MD schools, but may have a shot at DO.

I think you might have a shot due your graduate degree and your ECs. I'd call the adcoms of your state school after this admission period and get their advice. You should really consider DO schools or raising your MCAT.

With your MCAT/GPA you do not have a shot at US MD schools, but may have a shot at DO.

I mean there are many things adcoms look for, and considering that the average MCAT is a 30 that means for every person that got a 33, someone probably got a 27 or 28, hence it being called an average. I recently spoke with the dean of admissions at my school, and he said that my interview and recommendation letters are my tipping point, and that they have historically accepted people in the range of 26-40, it just depends on your personality, EC, and your "mitigating circumstances". He said the major drawback to my application was the 7 in PS😡, however it is well known that the only MCAT score that is highly correlated with USMLE pass rate is the BS score, so he said that was a plus. So to say absolutely no shot for allopathic medicine is being a little pessimistic I think. I also believe it proves your up to the pressure of the medical school curriculum to finish 153 credit hours in 3 years with a 3.51 cum(one of which was during high school). Lets be honest here, I believe anyone can get a 4.0 and 36+ MCAT if they spread out there classes properly (4+ years) and spend months preparing for the exam; and if medicals schools are only concerned with generic run of the mill graduates, then I would have made 2 major mistakes in my past (however I do think it is very important to prepare for exams more adequately than I usually do). I was also told that grade trends are something they consider, as long as they are positive. So after speaking with him, I do feel slightly better. I would like to thank you however for taking the time to give me your input.

I was so disappointed when I got my score for April. But it motivated me to study really hard. I still can't believe my score. My goal was to get 30. No more MCAT for me.

jeez... insane improvement
