I had them all complete by mid-July if I remember quickly. I did them in really no order if I remember correctly. I think I did them as follows:

UTSW, UT San Antonio, TCOM, A&M, & Tech

Sort of did the essays and everything I thought was easiest for me to write about and eliminated them that way. I know some people finished secondaries according to who sent out invites first.

so the secondaries dont have to be in also in order to be called for an interview?
 
If I didn't put my pin on my money order only my name is this bad?
 
No, you must complete your secondaries before receiving an interview. I had turn around time from about a week and a half to little over a month. Good luck!

P.S. I once heard an urban legend that there was a girl who applied to all the Texas Schools, and only received an interview from UT-H. Luckily, that was where she matched, so all went well. One day a fellow underclassman was asking questions concerning what she wrote on her secondaries. She was like... What are secondaries? Heard it was true, but might be one of those pre-med myths.
 
If anyone's TMDSAS has been processed and trasmitted to the schools I was wondering:

1. When was your app fee, photos, and cert page received?

2. When was your app processed and transmitted to the schools?

Everything was recieved on may 14 except my LOR's and mcat score. The application was sent to schools on the 23rd of this month without all of my LOR.

Sweet! So they don't have to wait for the LOR to transmit the app?

They have received my MCAT score, transcripts, and online app...they one thing missing on my "status of docs" page is the LOR.

Looks like you went out with the first batch--congrats on having it in so early!

Nope! I thought my appl was being held up because of my LOR but I checked yesterday and it had already been sent.
 
when is the first batch sent out? I submitted on June 20th but my application hasnt been processed yet. Will I still likely be considered for the first round of interviews?
 
I submitted on June 17th, and they received my app fee, photos, and cert page on June 21st--my app has not been processed yet either.

I sure hope we are still considered for the first round of interviews--I believe the adcoms convene around mid-July, so our apps should be there by then....

Can anybody else shed any light? 😳

i am trying to post my PS on tmdsas but it doesnt allow me to use the tab key for paragraph indentions. it this normal? i dont want to submit and for the adcoms to thikng i dont know thing about grammar.
 
yep that's normal. just press the space bar 2-4 times, but be consistent across all your paragraphs. also, watch out for symbols - especially apostrophes and hyphens - if you wrote your PS in Microsoft Word. These characters will come out funky or merely as extra spaces on your TMDSAS form. You can check to see if this has happened to you by saving it and then going back to it.

How did you all classify your independent studies?

as a biol class?

we get 4 cred for a BIO395 course

Also, what about a BIO391 Teaching assist: for Bio
would that be under Bio coursework?


and why dont they count astronomy as a BCPM?
 
also , can we just put 00000 for the course ID# for AP credit? there is no # on my transcript - it only says AP BIO CREDIT - 4.0 HRS

I think different schools require different things. Like UT Austin, they won't release my recs until they get 3 teacher recs to write a committee one for me. And right now I just need the 2 recs.. so I'm kind of stuck.

I had the same question. Those classes are classified as "other science"

Astronomy is an "other science" as well I believe. You might want to email TMDSAS directly just to be sure.

astronomy counted as physics for me on AMCAS, though im not sure about tmdsas yet

yeah - TMDSAS explictly states that Astronomy does not count as a BCPM course, which sucks since AMCAS does - but it really shouldnt make too much difference in the end.

but do the "other science" cources get counted in the sci GPA?

also, could a "reason and writing at the college" be counted as english? or does it have to be in the ENGLISH dept? that class was just writing papers -

also, did you all just put 00000 for the ID# of AP credits?

I emailed this same question to TMDSAS, and they said it must be in the english department. Ask them to make sure.

Does TMDSAS only send two of your recommendation letters to the schools and require you to send the rest of them to each of the schools separately yourself?

Also I'm retaking the MCAT in August so do schools look at your application before they get those scores or do they hold off until they get them in mid October.

If I send in my application do they send it to the schools in batches or send in the order that they get them. In other words if I'm retaking in August will it help me to send it now versus let's say August.

As far as I know, you can only send the committee letter OR 2 letters of recommendation. I believe any additional letters must be sent yourself. I'm not sure if you need to though, don't medical schools prefer a single compiled committee letter?

I've heard some schools grant interviews before your scores come in. One girl at my school was interveiwed at UTH before they got her scores.

I have a question for everyone: Why do they need our high school class rank and SAT scores??
 
Im also retaking and contacted all of the schools but Baylor. All of them consider you for an interview before the next set of scores except A&M.
 
How long does it take TMDSAS take to process your application? I turned in my stuff on 6/29/04 and my stuff has not been processed. What is the deal? by the way all my other things (photos, money, sigend page and lor are in) are in.
 
Has anyone noticed on the formatted/printable version if Ethnicity in the Supplemental data request section is displayed? I selected it from the dropdown menu in the application but it doesn't show in the printable version. Or does anyone know if it's intentionally not shown?

I just checked mine and it's not shown either. I dunno, I just think that the TMDSAS site is a bit sloppy compared to AMCAS and this was probably not done on purpose.

Last year it took TMDSAS several weeks to process my application and I had all the forms, fees, transcripts, and photos in by the end of May. Be patient because it can take them awhile. Despite the delay, I still interviewed at five schools in Texas.

Hi all:

I just wanted to point out that you can check the status of your application (even if it hasn't been submitted yet) at the following link:


https://utdirect.utexas.edu/nlogon/mdac/mdstat.WBX

You can use this to check whether your LORs, MCAT scores, and transcripts have been received, etc.

Does anyone know the approximate turn around time from when they receive your supporting docs to when they actually post it as received on the status page?

For me it was usually very quick: on the order of days. However, the later one waits to apply, the larger the flood of documents, and hence........
 
I have all my stuff turned in and my prof said he sent his rec in last week and I still don't see any update on my status list yet for his rec (that's all i'm missing). And I don't want to call and harrass them yet caue I thought that maybe they were just slow but I'll give it another week and see. Thanks

"other science" courses do count in the science gpa. They just emailed me back.

I emailed them about this awhile back, and they said it is still there---they will get their "computer programmer" to fix it "soon"

Thanks, it's not really a big deal. I just found it odd.
 
now my trancript section has a "C", but my mcat section is all of a sudden incomplete... the "C" is gone. somehow, the app changed and it now says that its waiting for august mcat results. i didnt enter that in the first time, someone on the other side changed it.

weird, ill send an email tomorrow if the problem is still there. but the fact that something is changing makes me think that theyre processing it.
 
there's definitely some movement on my app, part of my applicant profile has been filled out, but the gpa part is still showing all 0s.
 
Nothing filled out on my app profile and all 0's as well.

I am glad to see this thread is getting some action. It is about time. I have been a little slow on the application side of things. I just had my transcripts sent and I am almost done with my personal statement. My goal is to be finished by the end of the week.

Did you guys take a lot of time when filling out the "Chronological Activities" part of the application. That is all I have left to do and I am wondering how specific I should be.

hold up...they shouldnt be "waiting" for August MCAT scores to process should they. I am planning on retaking, but they sure as hell send it out and not wait for my august scores. I hope I dont get a headache about this, I wish they would just process my application already. Its been excactly a month!

Movement on my app profile as well! Everything is filled out except for GPA area, which has all 0's.

Also, my transcripts now have "C" for complete in the documents received page!

they said a shipment will go out this week and my application will be in it. Im thinkin most of us who have submitted over the past month will finally have our apps processed. FINALLY!
 
Hey I was just wondering how long after applications are sent to schools can interviews come out? My application was sent on tuesday, so i was just wondering how long I should expect to wait. On that note, any new interviews out there?

I don't have any invites yet either, but app was transmitted to the schools 1 day ago

Depends on the school & when they start interviewing:

From last year it took about three weeks to get my first one, and I had both primary and secondary in around the same time.

Some of my friends heard sooner, and others later.
