Can you add a 4th letter of recommendation to TMDSAS at this point? I have a supervisor willing to write a strong letter that would also include some important updates on how I have spent time since applying, but not sure if it can still upload/if schools would still consider it.

I don’t believe so, as the deadline for supporting documents and activity descriptions has passed. If you would like to email each school with an update on your activities, that is your prerogative.

Alright, thank you for the quick response!

I have a question about waitlists after match day. I prematched with a school that I most likely will rank last. Say I get waitlisted by my #1, what happens after? When would my match with my last choice be binding? I'm a little confused on what the April 30th deadline is for. I guess by what date would I know if I have a chance at my top choice? Definitely don't want to lose my prematched spot if it means hoping to get off the waitlist though.

Match Day will show you one of two things, since you have a pre-match offer:
A) you match to some school you ranked higher
B) you match to your pre-match school.

Getting offered a WL spot won't happen instantly, but at some time soon after Match Day schools you ranked higher than your match school may email you: if you want to be on their WL, say so by replying to their email.
I say may because some schools only create a smaller or selective WL. It is up to them.

You are allowed to wait on the WL until May 15th only - if you have no offers from a TMDSAS WL by then, your currently held acceptance is binding.

Thank you so much for the reply! So accepting a WL offer does not affect the match I already have, right? And I would have until May 15 to possibly get off the WL?

correct and correct.
Also, let's say someone has a Match and is later offered acceptance from a WL.
They do not HAVE TO take that acceptance offer; they can think about it and either accept or decline.

If they do want to accept a new offer after a Match, they would need to:
1) accept the new offer
2) write to their former school through official channels to say "they regret withdrawing but have an offer that better meets their goals" or some such clear statement of their intentions.

correct and correct.

If you click "save and submit preferences" on TMDSAS rank list does that submit your rank list and you cannot change it? I know we have until February 18th, but I am afraid to click the "save and submit preferences" button because what if it does not let me go back and change it.... has anyone clicked it and still been able to go back and change their preferences?

You can change it until Feb 18. Maybe you have one more interview or are waiting for a school to show up on your portal.
For right now it is just “saving” and on Feb 18 after 5 pm you won’t be able to save or submit.
You can do it as soon as you want.

Oh one more hint: take a screen shot of your list right before your final submission, for your records.

Thanks to all for the helpful responses above in this thread. If I have a pre-match offer to a school I’m ranking #3 (and only that school,) is it worth sending a letter of intent to the school I’m ranking #1? Since the waitlist isn’t a sure thing, I’m afraid if I wait until after match day, I may not even be offered a spot on the waitlist and I’ll no longer be able to express to that school that it’s my top choice, with the hopes of being admitted. Advice?

It depends on which school you want to send your LOI to. Some accept them and some do not, so research their rules.
Rank it #1 for sure on your rank list.

Are we supposed to be able to see our pre matches on our TMDSAS account? If so, where is there like a tab for it similar to the interview/rank list tab? I cannot find any of my pre matches on TMDSAS

You will see all the schools where you interviewed in the rank list tab. You can rank prematch schools or schools with no prematch at will. If you rank un prematched schools higher, you might match to one of those, or if not you will get the prematched school you ranked highest.

Do your prematch schools appear on the rank list among other schools where you interviewed?

For pre-matched OOS applicants, do we need to do anything before the Texas Match? I know we don't participate in the Match, but I wanted to be sure I'm not missing any important deadlines. (I did not see anything on the deadlines listed on the website).

Also, if we have multiple pre-match offers, we have until April to finalize our decisions, correct?

I am still super torn between two schools and don't feel ready to decide yet so I'm hoping that yes, we do have a couple more months to ponder our decisions.

Thanks in advance! And good luck to all the TX applicants in the Match!

Carefully read your offer letters to see when they ask for your decision. Check the school websites also.
If there is nothing else stated you will narrow your schools down to 3 by April 15 and to one by April 30.

I must impress upon all of you pre-meds in the TMDSAS thread that year in and year out (even when I was a pre-med) how fortunate you all are and I was to have wysdoc as the go to expert on everything TMDSAS. I loved her previous cartoon avatar of a female doc in white coat and even more so her more upgraded "CGI/metaverse" one and congratulate her on becoming a SDN admin. She provides advice and knowledge about TMDSAS that is second to none. She knows her "s**t!" 😊

Aw thanks @DV-T
Are you MS4 already?

Hey y'all, this is a random and very specific question- for those of y'all that have taken transfer credits from ACC, have you had trouble getting your transcript from them to TMDSAS? I've requested twice since December and TMDSAS still hasn't received it...

Try messaging TMDSAS in your portal, could be they have just not entered its receipt yet

New Data Presentation style from TMDSAS/TXHES

Check out this new data bank where you can look at applicants, matriculants, and those interviewed from a variety of demographic standpoints.
It takes a little practice but is fun to play around with.
Notice there are 4 tabs on the bottom, to see GPA distribution, test scores, demographic and map.

On each tab you can further filter/funnel the information you see by clicking a square up on top.
For example: while in the GPA tab, check the Texas Resident box to see GPA distribution for in-state applicants. You can further funnel by also clicking the box for Accepted. Click the black box again to uncheck it, and click others to see more things.
Maybe you want to see whether the GPA for OOS Accepted people is higher.
Reset by unchecking all your boxes until none are blackened in. Have fun with it!

Once again, TMDSAS schools love love love high undergrad GPAs (3.81) and relatively average MCAT scores of those who matriculate/offered (511.3)

It's crazy how even in the last few years how significantly more competitive applicants have become. The average MCAT of those accepted increased by 4 points since 2016 and the average GPA of those accepted since 2011 has increased by 0.2. I can't even imagine the changes in the next 10 years from now.

I also find it interesting how both reapplicants and non-trads have significantly lower average accepted statistics. I'm sure this is obvious, but life experience and diversity of ECs clearly play a major part in acceptance, and I imagine it isn't so heavily focused on stats as others might suggest. Of course, stats are still very important. But schools clearly value who you are as an individual besides your grades. It sounds obvious, but I wish I had come to this realization sooner. This was very cool of TMDSAS to provide.
There’s a lot of data to digest in there, that’s for sure.
I think nontrads may have a hard time raising their GPA when maybe averaging in more classes on to a large number of credits. But as you pointed out, their life experiences are also considered.
The TMDSAS director pointed out that this year’s GPAs might be artificially high because so many applicants had a number of P/F classes during the pandemic school changes. A Pass in a class will count as a prerequisite, but won’t get averaged in to the GPA. If people would have gotten some Bs or Cs in those classes, their GPAs would have been a bit lower.

Hey y'all
If you don't use Facebook, you missed today's Valentine card from TMDSAS
🥰

Don't forget, the deadline to rank all the schools where you have interviewed is THIS FRIDAY Feb 18th before 5 pm.

Does the link still work? Nothing pops up when I click the medical report.

These statistics are so disheartening it's making me question even reapplying next cycle. With a GPA below 3.7 it feels impossible to achieve your dreams even with a good MCAT.

Those matriculant GPAs are averages, so don't fret. Do reasonably well on the MCAT, get dynamite LORs, have a good PS, check all the other boxes, and work on interviewing skills. You'll be alright...

I can't promise you anything, but they do also look at trends. As a nontrad my cGPA is like a 3.5 (I finished my original undergrad with a 3.3). I have a strong sGPA (3.8), but that was all in my recent coursework. If you have an upward trend you still have a shot, don't count yourself out before you even apply.

Okay, that's a wrap, y'all.
I hope you all submitted your rank lists by 5 pm today on the TMDSAS portal - it's all over now but the waiting.
I changed my avatar just now to a good luck one which I'll leave up until Match Day. Then wysdoc will probably retreat back behind the laptop screen once again.

Hey y’all! I’m actually not applying this cycle but had a quick q:

a BUNCH of TMDSAS schools are visiting my college tomorrow, what’s the best way to make the most of this time? obvs dress nice and try to engage, but I have pretty much no experience with this kinda thing so even super basic advice would be very appreciated

I would recommend just listening openly and see how each school describes itself, their similarities and differences. Then afterwards sit down & make notes for yourself to refer to later when you do apply. Follow the schools you like and see if they have upcoming application workshops or online webinars.

it looks like they changed the deadline date? it now says February 21st for me. not sure why though
Maybe it's so the folks that interviewed at Foster on the 17th can rank. Don't quote me on it, though. Mine is also open.

If you don't have a match on match day, is there still a possibility to match afterwards if someone rejects their spot and that seat opens up? If so, would you get notified through the tmdsas match or will the school reach out?

One of the messages you might see on your portal on Match Day is "No Match".
This is very disappointing of course, and there is still a chance to gain admission later in the spring if people leave their seats for various reasons.
After Match Day, all offers are between you and the individual schools, and don't run through the TMDSAS Match portal.

Fairly soon after Match Day, schools will form their Wait Lists and should reach out to you directly, via email or school portal.
If offered a place to wait on a WL, respond to that school and say you would like be on it (or not, as you wish).
If you have no other Texas school acceptances, you could get in from a WL all the way up to orientation day for school.

If you did get a Match on Match Day, but are waiting around on a WL for the chance to get in to a school you had ranked higher, you can only come off the WL until May 15th.

This may be a strange question, but does anyone know what the TMDSAS portal will look like once the results are released on match day?

How to View Match Results:

To view your match results, log in to the application.  On the right-hand side of the screen, under [Pending Actions], click on [School Rank Preference]. If you matched to a school, the school name will be listed.

If you did not match to a school, keep in mind that the standard rolling admissions will begin after the match process and continue through the beginning of orientation at each medical school.  You will be contacted directly by a medical school if you are moved to their alternate list or made an offer after the match process.

(From the TMDSAS web page)

Does the result still come out at midnight like back in the day ?
