ortho post interview thoughts

What is the advantage to partnering with a GP? Why not simply have your own building? I know these are noob questions, just curious!

It's really difficult getting GP referrals nowadays when GPs do Invisalign, 6 months smiles, hire in-house specialists and increased competition exists with more chains and group practices compared to the past.

OL,

What is a suggested population: ortho ratio to have enough patients?
thanx

Say you did decide to start your own practice. How does one get any referrals? Say you are in a town that already has a few orthodontists, with them already having a referral base, do you just go to all the dentists there and beg for a few referrals? Seems daunting to me…….

Yes, solicit yourself directly to dentists.
-Also take advantage of selling yourself at public gatherings (like the fair, local cultural events, etc..)
-Get a website
-Get onto yelp

I think one of the easiest ways to increase your success in ortho these days is to have Saturday and evening hours. I think A LOT of people would like to stop by the ortho on their way home from work or school (leaving a bit early) and simply not go back. Also on Saturday. You could work W-Sat Noon to 8pm or something.
