It's saturday and the priority deadline is tommorrow, so I can't call her. That's okay. I just included it in the science gpa according to pharmcas' guidelines.

I know the priority deadline is 10/1 but if you send everything thing afterwards, then does that mean that they won't look at it until 12/1? Or when they do look at the non-priority applicants, do they at least review them in the order they were received?

I got interview request finally and I got interviews at 3 schools now set up. I hope everything doesn't conflict because of time schedule.

Hey Congratulations! What schools did you get interview requests from? Is Pacific one of them? Sounds like you are going to be busy!

WOW - you got an interview w/ Pacific??? That's great news - I didn't know they would be sending them out this soon... Hopefully more will be rolling in.

When did you send in your application?

congrats on the interview

i have a question for everybody, how can you check if Pacific U has recieved your LOR and transcripts. I submitted my online application two days ago and sent my LOR and transcripts in like a week ago. i hope i'm not missing anything else in the process.

In the confirmation email Pacific u sent you - click on the link - and then on the grad application.

it should say status: payment accepted, data sent, received, and confirmed.

I am at work - so I cant access my other mail - but the exact type is written in an early post I made concerning the same question.

Glad to hear your stuff is in... Welcome to the waiting game... 😀

Hey All - I'm not really sure about GPS101's interview (just joined, 1st post), but the timing is pretty close. Last year, the priority deadline was Nov 1st. Interview invites came 4 days afterwards. I know that Mindy510 received her invite on Nov 4th, a few more came on the 5th.

If last year is any indication of this year. We should be hearing of invites for the 1st session this week, with interviews actually taking place around Oct 20 or 21.

I turned in my app so late - that Im certain I wont be in the first group - but hopefully some of us will...

Yeah...I wish he'd sign back on and confirm. It could be a UofP confusion. I haven't heard anything, but hopefully we will all hear in a couple of days. At this point I'd love to hear even if it's a rejection - I'm just tired of waiting!

Before I begin let me just say: I got all my Pacific app stuff in last Friday! Horray!

OK now that that is over😀
Hey folks,

I concur and too think GPS101 is confused. Like you said Pharm he likely got a UoP invite. I don't think Pacific Pharm has invited yet. I think we will all here within the next 3-4 weeks but hopefully sooner.

Any advice from you folks on this next issue would be appreciated. I am starting to consider applying to other schools besides just Pacific and USN. I do really really like the 3 year programs and block curriculum at these schools among other things. I am a bit concerned though with 1) the reputation of the programs and 2) the rushed nature of 3yr vs. 4 yr. which likely will not allow me an opportunity to work as I much as might like to on the side. The 1st issue concerns me more than the second.

For these reasons I am starting to consider applying to some of the top programs to keep my options open. I am looking at the top 20 programs on the list ~above~ provided. My reasoning is that if I can go to one of these programs that I may have a better chance at getting a top-notch residency and/or clinical job. I am only looking at non-pcat programs and preferably ones that don't cost too much (i.e., can gain state residency tuition and/or cost of living is low).

Any thoughts/advice?

How hard is Pharmcas to do if I haven't done it yet? I, of course, didn't have to do it for Pacific and USN!

CONGRATS on getting your app in - it was important for us to get it in early - and I think for the most part we accomplished that.

As to your concerns about 3yr accelerated programs - I concur with your fears. Residencies for the most part seem to be based off of GPA and school prestige. Pacific will give you neither of those. I actually just posted about this in another pharmacy forum (residency forum I think). I think there are other ways to tackle the residency issue however. Working from within a hospital - and then receiving a residency is possible. I am looking to join the military - which in turn will provide a residency. There is always more than one way to skin a cat.

To your point about applying to other schools - I say absolutely. Pharm47 is applying to 4 or 5 (I think), and I am applying to 4 or 5 as well. It makes no sense to pin all of your hopes for the following year on only 2 schools. If you are competitive - you should defnitely apply. It takes some leg work on your part - but in the end will provide you with some options.

Just something that I found interesting. A couple of people did apply just before the priority deadline last year and showed up at the first round of interviewes - so there is still hope 😀

thanks for your thoughts.

I'm looking into UCSF.

I may apply to Idaho State and/or LECOM as the more safety schools.

anyone else have thoughts on all of this?

Hey, I had two questions. First off, I submitted my application online on friday and mailed off my transcripts and LORs. How will I know when they've been received my stuff? Also, does Pacific have a supplemental application?

search this thread as the answer to your first question has been answered already. Pacific doesn't have a supplemental.

congrats on getting your app in and best wishes.

Hi everyone!

So, is it just me or is anyone else having a hard time staying focused on work, school.. etc, or like me-- obsessing about whether or when we will hear some news from Pacific? The anticipation is killing me! LOL. I have been a nervous wreck ever since I submitted my application a couple of weeks ago. I started this whole process thinking I was a pretty good candidate, but now I am second guessing everything. It must be just last minute jitters. I am wondering how many applicants have applied and made the first priority deadline. Anyway, I just had to vent. I must get back to finishing my Ochem lab report! Good luck to all.... I can't wait to start seeing the posts stating, "Hey! I just recieved an interview invite!" Bye, for now.

I can't wait to see those posts too!

I have a feeling and think that Pacific has got a lot more apps than even they anticipated. They were smart to follow USN's lead with the 3 year blockr curriculum and not requiring the PCAT or Pharmcas. I bet they are collecting a boat load of $95 admissions fees🙂

I was actually looking into Idaho State too. What do you know about the school? I was looking on their website and couldn't find out any info. regarding how many applicants they receive each year. I would be applying as an out of state student... and I think only 20% of those accepted are out of state. Pacific is definitely my first choice.... but I am starting to search for additional schools to apply to. I am thinking USN is pretty difficult to get into. They don't require pharmacy experience or LOR. They make their decisions soley on GPA, courseload.. etc. Pacific, on the other hand, requires pharmacy experience and LOR, which is why I have a better chance getting in at Pacific. I have tons of pharmacy hours. Plus, at Idaho State, they also require a Pharmacist LOR... so experience is a plus there as well. Let me know if you have any other info about Idaho. It would be nice to get into Pacific so we wouldn't have to worry about applying elsewhere.... but that would be too easy. 🙁

If you can go to Idaho State U, go there, stay there for one year and declare that you are an Idaho resident (of course there are tons of paperworks). I bet it'll be a lot cheaper than Pacific U.

Hey everyone!

I just got a phone call and email from Vanessa.....and I am soooo happy. I was picked for an interview! The interviews will be held on Oct. 28. She will be sending a more detailed schedule regarding the day of the interview toward the end of the week. Hopefully you all heard something! Vanessa is going to be out of town starting tomorrow until the 15th of October. Good luck!

Thanks! Let's see.. I submitted my application on Sept. 19 and it was confirmed the next day. I don't really know if it matters when you submitted it... as long as you made the Oct. 1 deadline.

I am so nervous... I have not wanted something this bad in a very long time (like Channukah of 1992). I dont think I am nearly as competitive as I thought I was. Applying to pharm school has been a very humbling experience. What time did you receive the email/call. Did she say whether or not she was calling anyone else???

O man now its even more nerve racking hearing that she's beginning the process of calling people for interviews!!! 😳

I know exactly how you feel. I am going to be 30 in Nov... out of school for years, and decided to go back to school with the encouragement of the Pharmacists I worked with. So it has been very humbling and scary for me to start something this big. I told myself if I didn't get in this year, I would have a good chance trying again next year. I am fortunate to have an interview; I wasn't sure if my stats would be good enough. Anyway, she called me at 9:00 central time which is 7:00 Pacific time. Just 2 hours ago. I actually didn't get to talk to her. I just missed the call. She left a message telling me to check my email, and that she was hoping to have been able to reach me. I tried calling her back several times but I kept getting her voicemail stating she was on the phone. Then, the last time I called, her voicemail said she would be out of town until the 15th of Oct. The email I received congratulated me, and stated the interview day would be Oct. 28. It also said that I would be receiving an official letter later this week explaining the interview day.. time, schedule of events.. etc. Hope this helps..

Just got back from A&P class to a voicemail and email inviting me to the October 28th interview! Anyone want USC/OSU tickets? I'm not missing the interview for a football game!

If for free?! I'll take them if it's they're playing in LA.

Submitted Sept 4 (snail mailed packet Sept1). Confirmed around Sept 13-15. Thanks!

I apologize for not viewing this thread earlier. I usually avoid threads that have more than 2 pages b/c my eyes hurt from catching up (which I did.)

I too just got an interview for Pacific. This is my 2nd interview invite already so I am VERY excited. (I have a MCV at Midwestern CCP, not a true interview).

In case ppl are curious, I completed my online appl back in mid August and everything was completed towards the 3rd week of August. Yes I was VERY early because I had a lot of free time on my hands. Vanessa has been GREAT in terms of helping me along the way with questions.

Anybody know if Portland is the best airport to use for Hillsboro? I'm coming from San Francisco and I'm trying to book ASAP!

I am more than happy right now and I know you guys who applied early all have a great chance. Due to my "low" stat's, I want to keep them private for the meantime. When/IF I get accepted into a school, I will make a new post detailing the STRUGGLES I went through. *prays for an acceptance for XMAS present this year!* 🙂

Good luck everyone!

Hi and Congrats!
I think I would definitely use the Portland airport.. but who knows, maybe the Hillsboro airport would be fine too. I know it is much smaller. You may want to check prices. Myself, I will be doing the drive. I could use the relaxation and scenery.

Sometimes "STRUGGLES" can make us wiser and more focused on doing well in life.

When is my turn the get the invitation call? 🙂

When is my turn the get the invitation call? 🙂

I agree. I guess I should have got my stuff off earlier than Friday🙁 I do wish they would have given more explanation on how they use their preferred deadline. It appears those who got their stuff in weeks before the deadline have been given preference while those of us who just met the deadline are still waiting.
That being said I do vey much congratulate all of you (Eddie, Pharm, and Ammarha-way to be super proactive) that got an early interview and wish you the best. May the rest of us hear something soon as well🙂

Ammarha, check your PM box as you should soon get one from me about ISU.

Above and G - Don't worry!! I'm sure if you aren't included in this interview session, you will be in the next! You made the priority deadline - so you are in good shape!

Hey G.. thanks alot for the PM. That info is extremely helpful. If things don't work out with Pacific (praying hard they do :scared: ), I will maybe look more into ISU as a backup.

Also, to everyone who hasn't heard anything yet... don't get too down just yet. It's still early and there are more interview sessions coming up. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I was confirmed in the same week as Pharm47.... I've been praying since I put in my application (and my attendance to church become 100% when I need something).

Ammarha (you're welcome on the PM) and Pharm thanks for the encouragement. If we don't get to join you folks in the first group I hope you'll be gracious enough to help us prepare for our interviews which will hopefully be in the 2nd or 3rd group. Anyone know when the next round of interviews will be?

Later ya'll...I'm heading on a much needed vacation🙂

I wonder since she's out of town does it mean that pacific has already invited their first batch of interviewees? HMMM...

As much as it pains me to say it - I think so. We have a good group here, so hopefully more will come over the next couple of months. Thanks alot for all of the words of encouragement - both from those that have interviews and those that do not. It feels better knowing there are other people in the world going through the same thing as me.

Keep the chins up - Lets focus on what can be done now, not on the things that cannot be changed. I pray to the G man that I eventually get a call, but right now I am buckling down on this semester's course work.

Take care guys 🙂

ps - have a good vacation G

For some reason, I'm still optimistic. I was kinda down, but I thought... there is no way they could have reviewed all preferred applicants (if they start reviewing after Oct 1).

I keep on working other applications.

Man I hope so... we really do have a good group here - I know we cant all get in, but it would be nice.

I think your right about not looking at everyone just yet. Vanessa said she would look at the apps in the order they were received - and from there start selecting the interview groups. So hopefully we haven't been looked at - or they are holding on our apps until they can view a larger group, and then give us the nod...

My stats are average - which makes me worried. Here's to hoping 👍

Sego - where else are you applying?

This application thing is getting too costly...dont you guys think so???:meanie:

If what you said is true.... then I may have to wait for the next round of interview.... I sent my complete online application and the required documents before Pharm47 and Ammarha. The thing is that both got their invitation on the same day as eddie who sent it back in August. So.... is the school that quick in reviewing all of them?

I hope the next batch is not as competitive as this one.

I applied to almost all private schools in California.

Sadly - its only going to get harder... As far as being passed over Sego - no one can be sure except for the adcom. I do think there is screening criteria - such as whether or not you have, or will have a BA/BS by fall. 80% of the class last year had one, and I think that percentage may go up this year. They may revisit us later on. Receiving an outright rejection is a bad sign, otherwise we wait and hope.

Afn... don't worry about the money - it sucks, but then its an investment. I'm not giving up until I've accomplished my goals. No matter how long or painfully embarrassing the road gets... A couple more years wont hurt, but sooner is definitely better.

I like it when you post. It is always positive and very supportive. Most importantly I like how the post is always updated! It gives me something new to read about instead of clicking the refresh button 50 times to see if anyone else has posted. I know that sounds stupid but I am just going crazy waiting for a response as well!

I hope they haven't reviewed all the applications yet. If they use whether or not you have a degree as a screening criteria that means I definitely got passed up!!! shucks...I guess we'll see what happens...

I hope the first round of interviews are still in process. I got my official letter from Paicific about my completed application on September 25th. But I know there are alot of applications ahead of mine so I will just have to wait my turn. I think they should give each application a number according to when it was recieved. They should then show the status of each applicant in terms of how the admissions commitee views each application. This idea isn't really practical however it would solve alot of problems applicants currently encounter regards to their status. I'm checking my email constantly and hope something will eventually appear. Everyone else good luck and congradulations to those who have been invited already. 🙂
