I cant stand this radio silence
Let your heart not be troubled... at least not yet. Most programs start notifying during the last week in July and will continue to have rolling invitations through mid to late August.I cant stand this radio silence
I have been checking this thread, seemed like I should do the right thing and contribute. Not sure where the existing invites should go in this new format so I will leave them at the top.

Possibly too they invite a lot of DO’s and IMG’s before looking at some low profile AMG apps. No one is sure how exactly it works. Moreover it’s likely different strokes for different programsIm pretty sure they rank their applicants as they come. They must have some kind of tier system where they organize people from most desirable to least desirable. I'm sure they also refuse certain candidates outright before they even look at the pool (by step scores, etc, etc). They send out invites and wait for them to respond to the interviews. Lots of those more desirable candidates will tend to apply to a bit more than they are willing to interview for and end up cancelling interviews. They then interview the first wave, they realize who fits and who doesn't and probably at that point they move on to the next set of people they set aside... wash, rinse and repeat. After a few rounds they simply invite a bunch of extra people (DO's and IMG's) as a means to have more potential candidates for the match in case their first choices end up matching elsewhere, that way they don't have to struggle with finding ppl outside of the match.
At least that's what I envision..
The silence is starting to get to me. I thought I would be an OK candidate and at least get some interviews, but am starting to question that. I'm a US MD grad (USMLE 250s/250s/230s), MPH, one first author publication and a couple of poster presentations). The only thing that makes me a little non-traditional is that I graduated from residency (large, well-regarded east coast academic medical center) 5+ years ago, and have been working as a hospitalist since then. I didn't think the fact that I graduated more than a few years ago would be a big deal, but maybe it is? Thoughts would be appreciated.

Dead silence here so far, I am afraid i threw my money away
Radio silence here.. came in with low expectations..
I have less than average scores on USMLE with no fails and spent about 6 years prior to starting residency. No chief, only part of CLER committee. Had letters from director of PCCM rotation; PD, APD and one of the attendings with whom I did most of my work with.
I have 3 poster publications (2 CHEST, 1ATS, 1 on ACP regional conference as well as 1 on sponsoring institution symposium); About 4 other case reports with posters on that same symposium. All of my papers are pertaining PCCM. BTW, I’m IMG-US.
I have a project cleared by feasibility but that is pending other approvals. I am ENLS and PALS certified (don’t know If it helps to have in addition to BLS and ACLS).
I haven’t received anything yet. Do you think the gap and the exams will get in the way, should I prepare for not finding at least one program who will interview?
