did everyone send their notification of acceptance to the tech standards email as well? it says to send the tech standards packet to that email but doesn’t say where to send the notification sheet?

I’m confused into those they reject you. So if you sent your app in March they can put you on the rejection list they have but just notify you in August? I’m resending updated mcat scores I wonder if they would even look at my application if they put me on the rejection list

I doubt they have a rejection list. They just prob won’t officially send rejection letters till August. They are getting back to people quick thou and keep the hope. My application was complete May 22 and got the acceptance email May 28. So if you have a complete application they are def looking and evaluating your file. It’s def not too late AT All to send new info etc

Quick question, I’m probably really late but looking to apply in the next couple of days for this program and I’m obviously interested because of their connection to the DO program. So do people use the personal statement for med school or write a completely different one for biomedical science?

I used my personal statement for med school and changed the last paragraph to mention biomedical sciences at pcom and how it would help me!

Yea I basically used essays from secondaries and added stuff about biomedical science and why it would be helpful for my goals

Hi, I'm applying to PCOM-PA and my application is just waiting on my transcript. My GradCas says they arrived (a week ago) but it hasn't updated on my PCOM portal yet. Is that unusual or about how long does it take for GradCas to forward the transcript?

Pretty sure you also have to send a transcript to PCOM. GradCAS doesn’t forward the one you sent to them - or at least they didn’t for me 🙂

I sent my transcript directly to GradCas and GradCas had it for like a week before I actually submitted my app and paid the app fee. After I paid the fee the PCOM portal updated my transcript column the next day. It took them the longest to process my LOR. I applied for PCOM-GA

I applied and was accepted to PCOM-PA. As long as you received confirmation of receipt from GradCAS, you're fine! It takes a bit for the admissions office to update the portals. From an admissions email - "Please be advised that an application fee is required to begin the processing of materials to an applicant record. Also note that it takes at least 15 business days (possibly longer depending on volume) for application materials to be added to an applicant record once the fee is received and processed."

Best of luck!

Did u hear anything back I’m in he same boat
No updates on GradCAS nor PCOM's application portal. They've had every part of my application since 2/18, and still no word. Honestly, at this point I am considering this as they rejected me since they don't send out formal rejection letters until the 1st day of classes.

Hello! I will be going to GA-PCOM for masters in biomedical sciences this fall. Has there been a Facebook page set up for those who have decided to go?

When does orientation start? Is it the 5th of August? (GA campus)
Also I'm considering purchasing an iPad.. any thoughts?

So with the new campus opening in August, will students in the BioMed program have an opportunity to interview at all 3 of the campuses? I'm assuming both the conditional acceptance as well as the guaranteed interview roll over to South Georgia as well?

Looking for a female roommate . Can direct message me if interested. Will be in the area next week looking at apartments

For the science gpa that is calculated it is calculated like how allopathic medical school calf gpa including all retakes and math science or how pcom calculus their science gpa
Did you ever find out how the science gpa is calculated??

Just got accepted into this program and I was hoping that the acceptance package would have more information about the classes and more about the tuition. Does anyone have any information

Course information and tuition is listed on the biomed PCOM page. Classes are listed under curriculum and theres a tuition section as well

Anyone heard about the "Bootcamp" that's potentially being offered this year? I have seen anything posted on the website or gotten an email.. just heard from some other students.

Are anyone else’s loans not showing up on their student account? They were all there last week and now one’s missing?

Does anyone know does this program offer guranteed admission into the DO program as long as you meet the requirements on the website?

As far as I know yes (have a few friends there now as med students and I went to open house). It technically isnt called guaranteed acceptance its conditional acceptance because you still have to interview well, so I guess they could find a reason to reject you if you really mess up the interview lol. But the GPA requirements also include undergrad, so it's impossible for someone who had a 2.9 to get the conditional acceptance after the first yr because even with a perfect 4.0 it's only 29 credits and you would be at about a 3.12ish. However if they continue to do a second yr then they would meet the conditional acceptance requirements for biomed yr 2 students. Also I'm fairly certain for the conditional acceptance MCAT score also requires at least 125 in every section. One of my friends from undergrad just finished her MS1 yr and said there were several previous biomed students in her class. Hope that helps!

Thank you that’s super helpful. What did they think of the program?

I have heard nothing but good things! I also shadowed at geisinger Danville a rotation spot for PCOM students and asked the the chief anesthesiologist how PCOM students do in clinical and he said good things. I was able to shadow him because it was through a special program with my undergrad institution that is affiliated with geisinger. I also met a 4th year orthopedic resident through the program who was PCOM alum and he said he had no trouble getting interviews for ortho residency he said just score well on boards and it can be done. He just recommended taking both COMLEX and USMLE if you want a really competitive specialty, but he also said all of the material overlaps from COMLEX to USMLE minus OMM specific stuff so it isnt all that bad.
Thank you! What did your friends think of the boomed program?

Hi! First post!
I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on getting an iPad for note taking in the program or would a laptop suffice?

Thanks!

Just got mine and it's absolutely amazing! Worth it

Congratulations to all the accepted students!

Are there any stats on how many masters students actually get accepted or matriculate into PCOM? I've read mixed responses on this the past few years. Some said it's not worth it because (anecdotally) it's less than 30%, but they couldn't cite any sources so I didn't really trust them.

at the open house they said they don’t have specific numbers of how many they accept from the masters - it’s more about your performance and individual application

Thanks for reply. That sounds like an answer any SMP would give, to be honest.

I guess it's a fact that the linkage between the masters program and PCOM is significantly weaker than the masters/post-bacc programs linked with VCOM and LECOM. I wanted to give PCOM masters a shot because I would rather attend PCOM over the other two schools, but I'm just not sure if the risk is worth it :/

They just started the conditional acceptance so that’s why the linkage was worse years ago to my understanding.

Ah, that could be true. The conditional acceptance is definitely more convincing than a mere interview, which practically all SMPs provide for formality.

I wonder if the 3.2 SGPA requirement for the conditional acceptance needs to be met by the time of application. I fall a bit short currently, but definitely can get over 3.2 with one year worth of science courses in the program (assuming I do well, of course... which is a big assumption lmao).

When I was at the open house last year, they told us that out of 75 total students in the cohort, 24 first-years and 31 second-years were accepted into the DO program.

Also, for those applying to biomed right now or during upcoming cycles: they showed us stats for accepted students.

25th percentile / 50th percentile / 75th percentile
  • GPA - 3.11 / 3.28 / 3.46
  • GRE - 302 / 311 / 317
  • MCAT - 493 / 497 / 504

Thanks for the numbers. I mean 55/75 is much better than what I've heard in the past, except I'm honestly not liking the idea of that second year. It would be awesome to get in after the first year.

I'm in an awkward situation because my SGPA will most likely not be enough for conditional acceptance after the first year (it would be if math counted as science like it does for MD schools...) but my MCAT is (505). I feel like I'm one of those students they might force to do a second year for the acceptance :/

pro! 11 inch, the 12.9 was WAY too big

check for Prime day/ 4th of july sales. I got mine for $150 off last weekend from best buy
And the program needed for exams, ExamSoft, works on iPad? I just want to make sure I buy something worthwhile.

Does anyone have numbers for the GA campus??

I just applied now I hope that they are not a full capacity (crossing my fingers), should I contact them that if I haven't sent in a transcript or MCAT yet? Also I applied to their DO program as well, but waiting on my MCAT score which comes out in Aug. 2nd If I don't get a good score score; I am just going to withdraw my app from the DO program and continue with the Biomedical vice versa is that allowed or no??

You can interview at both schools
Oh yeah? So if you go to PA for biomed and you meet the conditional acceptance you can choose to go to GA for med school? Does anyone know for those that meet the conditional acceptance are they more likely to get accepted post interview? I’m just worried about meeting the conditional acceptance and still getting rejected.

Are you applying for the 2019 cohort that starts in a few weeks? I’m surprised the app is still open.
