I'm in the same position as you with similar stats! still waiting to hear back and it's been a couple of weeks now.

For those of you that attended the Philly orientation, did anyone mention there being any more available seats?
 
Nobody has mentioned there being anymore seats or anything of that sorts. We literally start class on Monday but who knows maybe they'll accept ya'll still? I'd call admissions

I am worried that if I do get accepted on the first day of class, hypothetically speaking, then I have to find an accomo

I called admissions because the only thing left in my portal to be marked as "received" were my LORs. They said they accept till the day of. Usually my portal resets at 9pm everyday with updates. This processing stuff takes soooooooooo longggggggggg. I just hope for the best at this point.

I just checked the FB groups for both and GA has only 50, not sure how representative it is of "available" seats. Could be a rough estimate...?
 
At the Philly campus we have 93 kids and they said it’s their largest class. No idea if they’re still accepting

Did you contact your recommenders to ask if they were sent? I had to hound mine, and they got them in on 7/30. I was told this Monday I was accepted.

If it is the FB page that you are getting that number, I have yet to join so it is more like 94.

They literally called me this past Monday and told me I was in and had to make a decision by Tuesday. I was also sent the email and the official letter in the mail.

I got my letters in thurs/fri this week because they screwed me over. They told me they turned it in when they did not. I called admissions/had a back and forth with Kevin. My portal is complete. I just am waiting for a decision. Im so worried cause it is so late

I had a back and forth too with my recommenders. Sometimes Pupper320 you have to be somewhat aggressive with making sure they take care of business. You can do it politely ALWAYS!!! But, just check in with your professors. Sometimes people don't even write back. I had a professor who promised to write a letter tell me the 19th she couldn't do it so I had to scramble. You just need 1 letter for this program. So once you have one letter they will review your stuff.

I scrambled on Thurs and Fri and got them in! I hope they come out with a decision tomorrow, I have been extremely anxious

Just try to take a deep breath. I know the feeling I was literally like that at the end of July. I finally made the conscious decision to just put it out there in the world and let it go. I went to the Jersey shore and found out a week ago today. You've got this!!
 
Goodluck you guys, hopefully if you haven't been accepted yet you get an answer today. We start classes this afternoon and our first exam is in 2 weeks!

Can someone give an honest review regarding the Pcom GA Biomed program? I have heard mixed things from people. The biggest complaints are usually not a strong linkage and classes are overly hard. Would you say that is valid?

Thus far the classes have not been "overly hard". First two exams were completely fair with ample time to study. I think this program and it's faculty were very forthcoming and honest regarding the workload... and they go above and beyond to ensure you get the help you need (so long as you make it known you are struggling or need help).

Regarding linkage the conditional acceptance was just implement and from my understanding and many others, so long as you meet all the criteria you are guaranteed a spot. I've found that the second year students have all re-iterated the same things I said above. Trust me I'm really not trying to shill this program but I've found what I consider to be my second home here. I don't feel like a number like I did previously in undergrad and it really does feel like the professors care.

That's good to hear. I will also look into possibly attending this program at GA PCOM campus.
 
Is this the first year the conditional acceptance is being offered versus just a guaranteed interview?

Interesting I didn’t know they had a conditional acceptance. I took a look at their website and it looks like you need a 3.3 in the program. Do you think a 3.3 GPA is fairly possible to obtain with hard work? My GF went to Lecom’s post Bach and she felt they purposely made the tests and material more difficult then need be. I’m from FL so I would be interested in living in ATL. You mentioned the tests were pretty fair. Would you say they pretty much layout the material you will need to know? Also you mentioned the workload. Is it pretty heavy? Really appreciate your viewpoints.

It's brand new as of this year. I really do believe the tests (so far) have been fair and from what I've heard from the 2nd year students as well. Everything is laid out on the powerpoints/during lectures, nothing tricky or overtly difficult in my opinion. I have a study group so we quizzed each other based off of outlines we made of the course material which helped us tremendously. You get pretty close with your cohort since everyone's in the same boat.

Regarding workload it isn't too heavy (like I said as of yet since I just started), and I don't feel like I'm taking on too much at any one given time.

Both are offered, but the guaranteed interview is for those with a 3.0 in the program. So if you dont make the 3.3 you still have a shot (in theory)
 
Those of you accepted and attending, do you plan on applying to medical school during your second year so you can start as soon as you’re finished with the M.S.?

On their website, it says that if you have certain requirements fulfilled by the first year, you can have conditional acceptance to PCOM. So, is that acceptance valid the following year or after the completion of the 2 year program?

Hey there! Anyone here who did the PCOM-MBS (Philadelphia campus) program with an aim to get into their DO Program? How was your experience? Did you get accepted into their DO program as they say on their website for "guaranteed admission?" If you don't mind, please do share your stats during the program /MCAT score. All help will be much appreciated!
 
I submitted my application on October 14th for fall 2020. My portal still says it hasn't received my transcript. I contacted admissions and they confirmed receiving it. do they start accepting in early as November?
 
I did email admissions. They were really informative and said to have patience. They do have my transcript. It still is not processed on the portal yet tho. I guess its a waiting game.
 
Is it still pretty early on in the application cycle? My professor has been a thorn in getting a letter of recommendation, really holding me back. I have GRE scores of 162Q, 160V, 5.5 Writing, idk if this makes me competitive.

my biggest worry right now is that I have a lot of hours volunteering, but not many shadowing/volunteering in hospitals. I plan on volunteering next semester but just haven't been able to because of time constraints.
 
@Yeezysallonyoursofa I would start working on your ECs now. Let's say you get accepted into the PCOM biomedical program, you still should apply to other medical schools in the future. Work on it now. On their page, the emphasis is on GPA, MCAT, LORs, essay, pre-reqs, obviously a bachelor's, and then other consideration. Which probably includes ECs. Just start working on it now, I am not familiar with how they look at apps. You will definitely need volunteering and shadowing experience even when you are taking the program to apply broadly. You don't want to put all your eggs in one basket. Good luck.
 
For the personal statement, are you guys uploading a 500 word statement or a regular medical school type statement? I'm a career changer and have a regular statement for medical schools, but I'm not sure how to approach this 500 word one. It looks like the only essay they require,
 
I know the website says one LOR but how many are people actually sending? Does sending more then one actually help?
 
Does anyone have any insight on which masters program is more beneficial between the PCOM GA biomedical one and Merer preclinical sciences? I really just want to do 1 year and then matriculate into medical school, but after reading the past threads regarding the linkage I'm a little worried.

LECOM and VCOM have one year master programs with good linkage but between Mercer versus PCOM, I'd pick PCOM cause they have the conditional acceptance

Yea I was looking preferably into PCOM GA and MErcer since I'm from Georgia and want to stay in GA and continue here for med school as well. I liked the conditional acceptance part of PCOM but unfortunately, my AACOMAS sgpa is a 2.97, while my overall is a 3.3 and for the conditional acceptance the website said the AACOMAS sgpa has to be a 3.2, so I only qualify for the guaranteed interview.
Any insight on how the coniditional acceptance and guaranteed interview processes are, since term 1 is complete?
 
Has anyone completed their application for PCOM? When do they start sending acceptance letters out? I have heard early as December.

I sent my application last Friday. And The only thing I’m waiting for them to upload is my MCAT score. I sent it to them three weeks ago. So hopefully tomorrow it will be marked completed.

what other master programs are you guys applying to? I am applying to drexel MMS , GSBS, RUTGERS MBS as of now.

Did you submit your MCAT to GradCAS or PCOM directly? I applied for their DO program, but i'm also applying for the masters in case I don't get in. They have my MCAT already bc of the DO application, but I'm not sure how to send it for this, or if I even need to.
