Same here. I submitted mine on 12/9, gpa verified on 12/22 (they emailed applications this day btw) and and now it's finally emailed. Nova just sent me the supplemental information. Now I gotta go through the process of sending out Fall 2008 transcripts... wich means schools are gonna wait even longer to look at my application. Fun times.
at least you have already taken the PCAT...I will be taking that on Jan 24th....but everything else is done at least.

Pharmdapps is right, it only depends on when you e-submit not when PharmCAS actually sends it out.
Yeah, I guess, but I'll be right there with ya. When pcats were taken over by pearson I think that 79 dropped to a 74... go figure lol.
1) when did pearson take over?
2) how do you know you went from a 79 to 74? did pearson just mailed you and said Hey, you actually have a 74?????
3) Why is pearson dropping your grade????

If you took the PCAT before June 2008, your score will be re-scaled according to a new set of scores. I think for the most part, it has affected people by lowering their scores.
I took the PCAT's the first time last january and got a decent grade and recently took it again in August and got the same score. Go figure... 🙂
I called pearson today and they told me that the PCAT gets re-scaled every 4 years. The lady on the phone told me that the PCAT gets harder and harder every year and re-scaling makes it fair for the people that takes it now versus 2 years ago. Which seems fair to me.

you have enough deductions to itemize your expenses via 1040? I don't think they are since they're not part of the "job search" category, BUT if you have a spouse that was concurrently looking for a job, travel/hotel might be partially deductible.
Even so you're looking at a threshold of at least 7.5% of your AGI, I doubt many people spend that much. The max you can spend is close to $2k on pharmcas...with a 7.5% AGI calc, you'd be making less than $30k hitting that threshold. In that case...you're just better off taking the std. deduction unless you're doing something funky like schedule C.

i actually read this and couldn't find anything related to application fees...it is a condition of acceptance but technically not a condition of enrollment, though it is implied in the process. i stand by my no answer as you are not yet an enrolled student incurring these fees.
and i stand corrected, you can deduct tuition/fees even if you don't itemize. but that's for later when you enroll.

I was wondering if Pharmcas accidentally does not count a science class as science but as something else, is there a way to petition it or would I just send a simple email to ask them to look over that particular class again?
Also, what usually happens to classes that are science-based (ie/ an evolution and ecology class) but is titled as Anthropology? Would it get calculated as a social science or a science? My understanding when I called Pharmcas was that they looked at the title and went from there?

I think it depends on what class you're looking at. For evolution, I would assume it's under biology at your school (it is at mine), and I'm pretty sure my course was under the biology heading. I took an astronomy course that was science but wasn't recognized as adequate for science credit (ie. for non-science majors), which was classified as "other." If you have a question about how PharmCAS has classified your courses, contact them asap to get clarification. Be very specific about your issue because they are contacted a lot every day, and it will help them solve your problem.
I think what you plan on doing will work well. I would mention the research under work experience (even though I guess you were not paid for it, maybe mention that), then you can refer to your publications in the description box. If you want to make it more obvious, then I do not see any problem with mentioning the specific publications in the Honors section as well. Having an article published is definitely an honor.
i'd try and mention it at an interview, best place i think would probably be in your essay. "i even published a paper bla bla
you'll definitely get a chance to mention it during an interview. most schools will ask you if theres anything you would want them to know about you (that possibly isnt on your app already).
Yeah, that's where I put mine. I also incorporated it into my personal essay and my supplemental essays. I put:
Name of Award: Co-Author of publication: Dismuke et al (2008)
Organization: British Journal of Ophthalmology
And of course the date. I'm sure that should be fine. Because the space for "Name of Award is too short, I stated the name in the essay. How awesome does it feel to be a published author?😀

One quick note--I thought the math was calculated separate from science GPA. And I thought Behavioral / Science was counted OUTSIDE of the science courses...
So just to re-iterate, the TOTAL science GPA includes ALL science AND other sciences courses taken during undergrad AND grad, correct? If anyone has a breakdown of the categories which are tabulated on the actual PHARMCAS application, that would be great!

It's on their website actually. I'm pretty sure they do separate undergrad and grad GPAs, but that info is on there too.
I see the information. I just didn't know if there were TOTAL overall science GPA calculations which combines undergrad and grad science courses...Do you remember that on your pharmcas GPA calculation print-out?

I didn't have any grad courses, so I don't know. If you are unclear about the GPAs, send PharmCAS an e-mail about it.

It is calculated under math. It shouldn't affect your science GPA.

~when you take classes at a CC-- all of them are going to be freshman and or sophomore level, right? (1000 being freshman..2000 being soph?)
~Say at school X physiology has a prereq that is required-- but school Y does not require it. When asked if it is a pre-req.... you should put that it is a pre req when they ask..right? (i'm pretty sure..but just wanted to verify before I messed anything up =P) 😕😕

Pre-requisite? I don't remember PharmCAS ever asking for the student to designate whether a course is a pre-requisite. I think all you need to do is designate is it is a science course, what type, and if there's a lab involved. The transcript section of PharmCAS only needs you to input your complete academic history (including any college-level courses you took in high school) and then that information is sent to the schools you designate; they figure out if you have all the pre-requisites or not.

Generally 1 refers to freshman level, 2 refers to sophomore, etc. Anything above 4 is graduate and professional level, which includes independent research.oohh okay! awesome =) I felt like I had seen that somewhere but I wasn't sure.. thanx!

PharmCAS asks the applicant to indicate whether the course is Lower-division (Fr/So) or Upper-division (Jr/Sr). I took some of my prereqs at a CC and the CC academic counselor said CC classes are considered Lower-division (Fr/So). You don't need to worry about identifying whether a course is a prereq or not on the PharmCAS application. Just find out whether the courses are considered lower-division or upper-division in the institution you completed them at.
Don't worry if you mislabel them because PharmCAS will correct them for you. For all that money that you're forking over to them, might as well put them to work. 🙂

The academic history portion is gotta be the most tedious section ever. : / Once June comes around, make sure to get all of your transcripts in once they open up including study abroad credits, community college, high school dual enrollment, and current college. At some point you may feel the urge to slam your head against the wall... : /
Yeah... I actually started doing it last year [before I decided to wait a year to apply] and OMG.. it took me like 2 hours I think.

yes... tedious for SURE. especially when you have >100 credits to input.

I know how you feel. Including planned courses, I had 130 or so credits to input. By about halfway, I was about ready to slam my head against the wall.
There, there... it's okay...To make matter worse, my internet cut out while I was in the middle of saving it. I ended up losing everything that I entered!!! I had to start all over!! 126 credits!!! URRGGRGR
I was about to smash the modem in pieces!! LOL
