Post Bacc vs MS vs creating your own post bacc

Hello

I'm in a position where I have absolutely no idea what to do. I had a very low undergrad gpa (<3.0), so I was applying to postbaccs, and was accepted into a 2 year MS program for applied life sciences, but I don't know if I should take this route or just take courses on my own.

How possible is it to dig myself out of this hole, and still get into a DO or MD school?

If I were you, I'd try to go to an SMP. You won't generally be able to with a 2.5, but if you have a 2.9 or so, then you might. Your" <3.0 "doesn't help us all that much, be more precise in your GPA and we can help more.

If its a super low GPA, you need a few post-bac. courses to prove you can handle a SMP.

I will disagree. I think that applicants who are significantly subpar need at least a year of PB to build up/retake the prereqs, and advanced classes prior to considering SMP.
A single year of SMP does not show the needed academic stamina needed for medical school, not too mention the cost. I typically advise 30-45-credits in PB, possible application, then SMP

Not to mention that way more SMPs will consider admitting you, OP, if you demonstrate excellent academics with full-time upper-level sciences and can get your GPA over the 3.0 mark. You might figure out how many credits of A-grades it would take to beat that benchmark.
