Wildlife officials said the feathered Lazarus had been shot by a hunter and put into his refrigerator for two days. That's when the hunter's wife opened the door and the duck lifted his head, giving her a scare.

The man's wife "was going to check on the refrigerator because it hadn't been working right and when she opened the door, it looked up at her," said Laina Whipple, a receptionist at Killearn Animal Hospital. "She freaked out and told the daughter to take it to the hospital right then and there."

The hospital's staff had the daughter take the 1-pound female ring-neck to Goose Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, where it has been treated since Tuesday for wounds to its wing and leg.

Sanctuary veterinarian David Hale said it has about a 75 percent chance of survival, but probably will not ever be well enough to be released back into the wild.

He said the duck, which has a low metabolism, could have survived in a big enough refrigerator, especially if the door was opened and closed several times.

You guys a new thread also might have been started because they've implemented new posting limits on threads to 1000 posts not 10000 posts due to the fact that 10k posts were backing the server. Some of you may have noticed my post count went down by a 1000 posts or so. That's because they had to delete the oversized 10k threads cuz they were trying to clean the server.

I believe the 1000 rule limit was just very recently instituted.

Oh, not lying. But I was merely talking about posting shoe pics? 😕

And it was still around last year under the original domain name (pre rSDN), but it's not working now.

BTW, your advice on taming the lizard really sucked. It's more fun to do it by hand, not outsource it. 👎 (I wasn't trying to be gross there, just sayin...)

P.S. I'm wasting time on here right now because I have to be in this lab for another 20 minutes cuz I work at the computer lab on campus. Gotta be back at the other computer lab at 4 after class and be there til 9pm. But that has a proper desk to study at and a separate office so I can get stuff done.

Plus when I got here, half of my shift my coworker was here so my desk was taken up and there was a lot of noise so I figured I'd be on SDN and wait for him to leave. But I thought he'd be gone when his shift was over. Turned out he was here with his friend well past the time his class started so by the time he got up and all the noise ceased down and everything else, it was already like 15 minutes til I have to leave and I don't forsee much getting done in 15 minutes.

Guess that's why I'm going post crazy right now. Had I known he was going to be here for long, I would have logged in my hours and stepped out.

Well I'll answer some of those questions. Regular because I don't see the point of decaf coffee if the point of coffee is to wake you up. Same goes for tea, except green tea and herbal teas.

Ice cream flavor.......mmmmm I'd say its a tie between butter pecan, mint choclate chip, and chocolate. But I like those marble slab kind of places like cold stones, maggie moos, etc. which allow you to mix whatever in your icecream.

Fav. song....not really sure. I like a mix of things from the 80's and early 90's and some alternative/ska kind of music. But can't say there's a favorite or few favorites because it really depends what I'm in the mood to listen to.

I also like several indian songs. Most of my fav. from there would be songs from movies that were made in the period of 1998-2001.

I was walking to work this morning at some guy asked me for change and I didn't have it -- which was a low point for me, I'll admit, -- but I'm a research asssitant appyling to medical school, suckah... you do the math. Anyway, he got mad and like morphed into all these dudes:

A long walk along a sandy beach, waves brushing against the shore, sun setting against a backdrop of seagulls flying in the distance...

A dinner at a small french restaurant in old Quebec that takes it's time to serve it's courses. The dim glow of candles, deep gazes, lively chatter, and a lot of laughter. Being completely authentic with each other and genuinely appreciating and enjoying each other's presence; none of that stupid, trying-to-impress-people stuff. Drinking bordeaux wine and finishing with some decadent dessert.

Watching the moonlit night together, hand-in-hand, slow dancing with each delightful step, in an empty, cobble-stoned street somewhere next to a lake. Seeing what playful dancing might be next... 😉

Flying to this beautiful small village I know in Mexico, south of Mexico City, up in the mountains. Walking down the dirt roads, sitting under the twisted, old trees, seeing the pyramid ruins. I have friends there that have cool houses built into the trees. We'd hike up there through the beautiful high-desert-like setting deep into the mountains. Listen to them play indigenous music to a large fire and dance together. Hopefully stay at the village overnight (😉 ).

Any flavor that is fresh, really. I like fresh, home made ice cream. My favorite was this coffee gelato I had in a small mediterranean restaurant in a small town in the Southern Californian valley.

Instinctively, T.Rex, but probably some stupid rich person's cute little dog... Those bastards live the good life... no school, no work, they wear $300 sweaters and diamond-studded collars..

We meet in the ocean trying to catch some waves (him: hot guy with an accent, a 6-pack, and a surfboard, me: boogie board or skim board - im scared of sharks). We agree to meet back on the beach that night. Get some ice cream and go to the Boardwalk Amusement Park, ride the ferris wheel. I'll pretend to be scared so I can hold his hand 😀. Then we walk to a pizza place, grab a slice and a soda, and eat while walking down the boardwalk, laughing at other people. We hold our shoes in our hand and walk down the beach along the water's edge as the tide is coming in. We throw stranded crabs back into the ocean. We hold hands and walk until we find a quiet part of the beach to stop and sit for a few minutes, playing with the sand as we talk. Of course, talking leads to other things, and he tries to get in my pants, and then I say "What kind of girl do you take me for? You think I'm going to put out on the first date just b/c you have a sexy Australian accent and a six-pack and you surf? That might have worked on all the other girls you picked up at the beach this summer, but not me! I'll bet you won't ever call me again after you get what you want!"

And then I think about it and realize that he is way too hot for me and I will never shag anything that sexy ever again, so I put out, its just as amazing as i imagined it would be, and he never calls me again. But I'll still have that picture of him to show everyone that I can get guys out of my league. Besides, guys that gorgeous are usually not LTR material.

I never said it had a happy ending. But then again, I have a fear of committment, so whatever.

You should have said partially on SDN and partially on keeping yourself out of debt in med school and buying a home. That would be better.

I'd use part of it to keep me out of debt and then invest the remainder of it.

I'm bored and at work. I found out tonight that there a many people who have never seen the end of the world flash thing online... if you haven't seen it, it is a must.

If I were an animal I would be my cat. She just sleeps, eats and goes crazy every once in awhile and has no responsibility besides hitting the cat box.

Perfect first date would involve food, drinks and a comedy club.

I can't pick one favorite song but it would probably be something by Flogging Molly

Screw coffee! I am a full out 24 oz energy drink consumer. (I work nights and 8am-3pm class followed by an 8 hour shift is hard to do on coffee alone)

Mint chip ice cream or kemps moose tracks.

If I won a million dollars I would probably pee my pants then decide what to do from there.

I remember when I first came to Pre-allo. I was warned in the MCAT threads about how harsh and unfriendly the pre-allo's were. Constantly arguing over pointless topics, trolling to get a rise out of people, squashing the noobs for asking what are my chances, and in general gunning to come out ahead of eachother. Uh ... wait a minute ...

Actually I have found this place to be very friendly and extremely supportive. And I am really glad that there are so many different personalities on here 🙂

It's been a while since there's been a good topic on pre-allo IMO. The trolls have been hibernating this winter i suppose. Everything is either havard v. wash U, what are my chances, MDs dont get paid alot, etc. I admit that trolling has its entertainment value at times. 😀

also, you just got into med school so you're untouchable now. Anything people say won't matter because you're in already 🙂
A true gunner doesn't post on SDN because it wont help his/her chances of doing better in med school.
