Congrats Emiloo! That's wonderful news!

Congrats Em!

Rave: I started my New Year's resolution a few days early and I'm down a pound already. Probably mostly water, but don't care, it's the right direction! And as another rave, Canada had a perfect record in the first round of the World Jrs and got a bye into the semifinal.

Congrats Emiloo! What a great way to end 2012! 😍

Woohoo!!! 🙂 🙂

Happy for you my incognito friend..You have been very nice nad supportive to many strangers here in SDN..and thus deserve good things!!!

Congratulations

Picked out new glasses this morning! I would post a pic if they didn't photograph so horribly. Plus the vet left early from work today I don't have to go in this afternoon. So instead I'm going to go get my hair cut, which I haven't done in probably 2 years (I've just been cutting it myself). Hopefully nothing goes terribly wrong so I don't look scary for my interview this weekend!

Just got done with my first driving lesson. Parallel parked on the first try and was told I'm a pretty good driver. Hopefully getting my license next week! My mom is taking me to work this weekend because she is visiting, so hopefully no more biking to work at all!

(Also, what's with this smiley??? :naughty: )

It's kinda creepy.

And parallel parking sucks. I think I've parallel parked once maybe, in the years since I got my license. I avoid it; if there's anywhere else to park, I will find it.

I totally failed parallel parking on my driving test. Like, not even close. I think I did everything else right... and I got my license... but I still can't parallel park.

The way he explained it to me made it super easy, so I'm not too worried about it anymore for the test. Especially since we're borrowing that same car for the test so I can do it literally the same way he showed me.

guess you can cross Penn off the application list (or don't bring a car).

I never learned how to parallel park... didn't need to.

Yup, so glad the CA license didn't require parallel parking.

Nowadays, it's not so much that I absolutely can't do it as much as it's the deep anxiety that comes with needing to hover slowly looking for spots with annoyed cars riding up my ass, and then the performance anxiety that comes with wanting to do it in one try on a busy street.

That's my problem. It makes me really nervous to keep other people waiting..

yall need to care less about that crap. if it's gonna take you awhile just get your ass end into the spot and let people go around and do your OCD noob straightening yourself out in your own little space.

I'm pretty good at parallel parking but Minnerbelle saying that CA doesn't require parallel parking just explained a lot to me regarding the situation here when people have to parallel park.

I can parallel park like a pro.... it was def required in MI... and I learned rather well and can do it in one movement usually without adjustments

Some of us are just sensitive souls with the need to please everyone issues, ya know?

See that's not a prob so much if the road has enough room, and I definitely do the awkward turtle half hanging out in the street thing with blinkers on and waiting till the traffic dies down. But that's not an option in a lot of the itty bitty boston/cambridge streets... which is pretty much the only place that I have to do such a dangerous maneuver. I avoid street parking like the plague if at all possible.

lol it's true. Written test is pretty hard actually, but the driving test is like eh. I probably shouldn't have gotten a license... But seriously, never once had to parallel park while living in silicon valley. SF probably, but I also avoided that city like the plague as well.

I hate parallel parking with a passion. I can do it, but I avoid it if I can. NC doesn't require it during the license exam thank goodness. On campus and downtown are the only places I've ever had to parallel honestly.

Thanks! 😍
I'm on cloud nine. He proposed in the middle of this bridge in the background in front of a waterfall (for everyone besides Kpowell who already saw it) 😉
He did it Saturday. :biglove:
I cannot get a picture of the ring that does it any justice. I just love it. And I love him. And yay!!! 😀

I totally missed all of this excitement on SDN and on FB until I saw it yesterday!! CONGRATS!!! So excited for you!!

😍 😀 :biglove:

Come live in downtown-ish San Diego for a week and you'll learn reeeeal quick :naughty: (this smily make me giggle)

Spent the day with friends at Holiday in the Park at Six Flags, and there were no lines for anything! And now I can gorge myself on the delicious cake balls I made yesterday 😀

I made an incredibly complicated dinner, which was really frustrating while I was working on it, but it was sooooo good. We had a bunch of blood oranges on the tree at my house, so I did a pork loin with blood orange sauce, and the recipe said that would go well with roasted fingerling potatoes, so I did those with a chive pesto. Plus garlic spinach for green stuff. Yummy! 😀

Sounds Delish!

I'm sure it was delicious. (Though personally I'm not a citrus fan. I'm actually a fairly picky eater). I've been making great food the past couple of days too. Though nothing so complex. Last night was spinach and mushroom risotto. The night before was roasted eggplant pesto pasta with feta cheese. So yummy.

Also got my "Santa" present yesterday (one of the downsides of living 2500 miles from home). It's a Samsung Galaxy SBlaze. I knew I was getting a smartphone for Christmas. I learned it was an Android phone when my mom and brother started using facebook on their phones. However, I never expected such a nice phone. It's pretty awesome.

Just checked my mileage account, and I have over 100,000 miles to use for flights to externships! This means I may actually be able to add one that would have been unaffordable otherwise 🙂

So glad for that engine trouble that led to the emergency landing (not really, more of a precautionary thing because the check engine light came on or something) that led to the apology miles! Was a lil scary/annoying at the time, but hey at least I got something out of it.
