Surprise pups at the zoo yesterday! The zoo director fosters lots of dogs and she had one that was pregnant. We took rads and they looked like they needed 5-10 more days to cook. Then an hour later she started having contractions and popped out all 5 within 2.5 hours! She's a chihuahua so 5 was a lot and it was a miracle she didn't need a C section!

Awwww the lil brown and white one has super cute cow like markings!

Yay! I got three A's and a B this quarter (that my professors reported so far)!

I know I'm getting two more A's and I'll probably eat a C for English, but I'm totally okay with this. I just need to bring my last semester GPA up a little. ^^

Wow, 5 Chihuahua pups! How tiny are they?? I love Chis. I'm usually a big dog person, but a well raised Chi is a delight - my older sister has one that I keep threatening to kidnap.

i've been threatening to steal my mom's long-haired chihuahua since we got him 5 years ago. i tried my hardest to convince her not to get a puppy from a pet store- why give $ to a puppy mill when you can to go to a shelter and save an animal's life? but then she brought home this tiny, sweet, adorable little thing and...😍

So tiny! Probably 3.5in long? The zoo director was kind of peeved because she had a super nice set up at home and didn't get to use it. The mom is really really nice. Definitely nervous, but not in the usual I'm going to bite off your face way. She was totally ok with me touching her babies and getting them cleaned off, but if I moved them too far away she would pick them up and put them right next to her. And then use them as a pillow.

Watching 5 dogs and 2 kids while their parents are at the Bon Jovi concert.. This is a Rave bc the kids are in bed and the dogs are cuddling either with me or each other as I watch the last installment of the Twilight series ( 😀 😍 )

In case people didn't see it on FB ( 😉 ) I was accepted to my top choice grad school today! Application season is over for me and I can finally relax!!!

A bit, anyways. 😉

Off to finish up this paper...can celebrate next week since it'll be Spring Break!

Congrats to nohika & Coquette!!

Mine's minor (today wasn't great) but someone sent the hospital a huge Edible Fruits basket. I got 2 pineapple flowers to enjoy, other marvelous fresh fruit and walked some horses. Working in large animal still intimidates me a LOT but I love the chance to learn. I sorta want a horse....Plus the llamas were cute, talking to one another 😍

YAYYYYY NOHIKA!!!!! I am so so excited for you! You must be so relieved!

Hopefully this continues to be a rave but my cat Noam Chomsky is having exploratory surgery tomorrow! I can't wait. I'm crossing my fingers it isn't lymphoma but it will just be sooo nice to know what the heck is actually going on in there. He's had GI problems now for months and we have tried absolutely everything and looked into everything (diet change, novel protein diet, copious amounts of bloodwork, ultrasounds, radiographs, barium study, ultrasounds with a specialist, FIV re-check, fecal floats, famotidine, metoclopramide, cerenia, steroids, B12 injection, I'm sure I'm forgetting something....).

Noam Chomsky (the cat) is also a grumpy old man (although only ten years old) and does NOT under any circumstances let me pick him up or hold him. But when he's coming out of anesthesia he has no choice in the matter and I get to cuddle him like a baby  😍

I absolutely love his name!!

Congrats Nohika and Coquette!! 😀

My rave is that it is Friday.
I just want to relax and take a break from all things stressful. May open up an Etsy account for my bracelets.

And I may be getting two hairless rats... people do not like the red eyes that my girls have. Getting a pair of dark-eyed hairless would be pretty funny.

Found the type of guinea pig cage I've been planning on building for $80 with shipping when they normally sell for like $140. So excited to get my guy a bigger house and then hopefully get him a friend.

It feels so nice to pull out my spring clothes and pack for Disney World next week!

collected bone marrow from a boar today. like the brazilian vet who has a crush on me showed me how to do it and let me get some (we'd already hit our target and the animal was dead). Still, awesome, how many people have done that in their lives?

Noam did great in surgery! It was a long one - he was under for 90 minutes or so but his vitals were good the entire time so thankfully, no scares 🙂 It will take a few days to get the cyto results back but I'm just glad he did so well. I left him at the clinic to get some cage rest (so my other cats aren't driving him crazy) and I miss him already 😳

After surgery, warming up in the incubator:

(which we call the cat microwave  )

he looks so adorable in the little box! like a cute little baby you just want to scoop up and snuggle 🙂 glad it went well and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

My vet is going to do our cat's dental procedure for free. :biglove: This is a procedure we would not and have not been able to afford. I want to write her the biggest thank you and he hasn't even been pre-examined yet.

This should cheer everyone up!

After a regimen of ibuprofen that I was sure would destroy my liver but was recommended by a health care professional, my mouth is back to normal. (mostly, I still can't jack my jaw way open but I can open it more than a half inch and my teeth fit back together)

If I pack fast enough during my lunch break and after work, I get to go home today. Already made the car super comfy for the dog. Now I just need my stuff.

Gonna miss my kittens though but at least I have a great petsitter where I don't have to spend a ton of money. ($35 for 5 days of feeding and litter box cleaning. Wouldn't have been able to afford the $150 for the pet hotel thing.)

Any idea what was wrong with it?

Inflammation had caused my jaw to be pushed out of socket on the left side. I clench my jaw a lot.

Yikes. That sounds like a good time... Don't do that!

SO and I just had the most yummy homecooked meal that we figured to be only about 3.50$ a piece. I love learning to cook. I wish I had done it sooner. 🙂

Also, right before dinner my labramutt decided to puke all over the floor. This would normally be terrible but turns out she was harboring HUGE chunks of kong and one of my bracelets. She would have NEVER passed them. Thank goodness she puked them up! I dont know what possessed her to eat her toy or my bracelet, she 3 1/2 years old and hasnt destroyed anything for years. WTH!? 😕

Partial snow day (at least for my rotation)!

Sorry about your dog. At least she got it up instead of waiting until she needed surgery.

Just wanted to say that eating in can be cheap and healthy and yummy. My husband and I have been doing this lately and we pay around $60-80 a week in groceries. It works out to about $5 a day per person, snacks and meals. I always though we were spending a little more than we needed to on groceries (see all the pinterest pins about feeding a family of 4 for that much). But once I did the math I was very happy. We also tend to eat fresh produce and whole grain/organic. I'm sure people could do it cheaper, but I like what I'm eating now and don't want to lose quality.

I love cooking. This week's grocery bill was $32.- fruits, veggies, cheese and yogurt. About every 4-5 weeks I end up with a bigger bill (~80ish)when I have to stock up on things I buy in bulk (beans/grains, chicken, tilapia, whatever fruits/veggies I keep frozen, and paper goods). Makes it so much easier to cook healthy knowing I already have a lot of whole foods laying around and very little junk. It took some time and money to get well stocked, of course, but I would just add a few things to every week's grocery list to spread it out a bit.

If you are shopping just for the week for just one or two people, use the little carrying baskets and not a big cart. It helps me prevent myself from throwing random things I don't really need in there.

On the food note - I made quinoa/sweet potato/chickpea patties in a chipotle/avocado sauce the other day. And even leftover they are sooooo good. It's hard to stop after one! Need to make more and freeze them.

Pinterest is great for finding new recipes. And I've been willing to try new foods lately, which is amazing coming from a picky person. Also I find it helps to make breakfast over the weekends for the upcoming week. It saves time in the morning and I make sure I get something healthy to start my day. I think we only spent $60 this past week. Maybe $65, but when I'm paying about $5 for a head of cauliflower (huge one and really fresh) I don't mind. Also milk is not cheap, but my breakfast doesn't last without and my husband who doesn't like breakfast will drink it in the mornings rather than eat most days. We go through a gallon and a half to two gallons a week. I love my milk. 😍

spent my afternoon with baby goats = 😍

And after that, I jumped my project pony for the second time! Nothing big, nothing fancy, just a log ~2 feet up but he barely even considers that a jump  Every time I ride him, I realize just how talented he really is. He's got all the training there and will be amazinggg once he's back in shape. I'll be a little sad when his owner finally finds a buyer for him, even though there are a dozen other horses I can ride. This guy is fun and we just "get" each other.

I love the feeling of riding one that you just click with. 🙂 That's great that you get to work with so many project ponies! 👍 I haven't ridden at all since leaving undergrad with the team and my school training project last spring and I miss it a ton. It's got to be a great stress-reliever for you!

Make Nekkid buy him for you. She is turning into a horse hoarder anyways!
