Simultaneously jealous of you and excited for you. Congrats! That will be an awesome opportunity! 😍

Given the changes to Davis's admissions criteria, I actually have a solid chance of getting to the interview portion (which is where I'm setting my sights). :soexcited: This is assuming nothing changes before I apply in 2015, but hey... 🙄

That's awesome news, congrats!!

Thanks guys 😀. I'm pretty stoked about it. I really enjoy the weekends at my clinic... Meaning the days no other vet is open and we are pretty much the ER clinic. However, I'm kind of over some of the drama at my hospital.. Hopefully this works out and they will take me on for the summer before heading off to school in July. 😍

Probably going riding tomorrow. First time since last summer. I'm incredibly excited.

went to get my hair cut this morning (4 inches off!) and the haircutter remarked that my hair seemed a lot healthier and stronger since last time I had it cut (which was a while ago). yay!
don't know what I changed (she suggested I'm eating better, but eh, not sure), though I don't care, let's just go with it!

also, this thread was two away from going to the second page. c'mon folks, even little things are still worth getting excited about!

Bf is on spring break this week, so we decided we're going to spend the week doing fun things together. Tuesday night we went shopping and then he cooked us a tasty dinner. Yesterday we went to the mall, toured a local brewery, and had dinner out. Today we spent the afternoon at the aquarium and tonight bf is going to cook lemon chicken stir fry for dinner.

It's been a good week. 😀

So much yummy food! 🙂 👍

concert tonight, tomorrow road trip to Florida! seafood, alcohol, beaches, hiking and another concert! then off to nawlins for savma. gonna be an awesome spring break even if I am already feeling guilty about abandoning my pups for so long 🙂

Met a guy about a month ago. It was one of those serendipitous weird time in my life things. Things are going really well. We might have gone one day without talking in some way. Last weekend he invited me and the puppy over and cooked me dinner. He played chase and wrestled with lily. It was adorable. I have like a high school style crush. It's pretty awesome. He called me last night. We talked for forty minutes and only hung up cause his phone was dying. :xf: this one may be kinda normal.

So it's annual review time at my hospital and our raises were to be submitted last week... My boss never talked to me so I was under the impression I did not get a raise.. Sooo I sent my résumé / cover letter to the 2 ER clinics in my area. Within 24 hrs I was contacted to have an interview at both places 😀

Then today my boss comes to me and let's me know I did in fact get a raise 😱 .. I told her about the ER clinic interviews and she took it really well! Wheeew! If I get one of the jobs she said she will work with my schedule as best she can to keep me on the payroll lol

Had an AMAZING ride on my horse after not being on him for about a month and he worked better today than the last time I rode. The ride and beautiful weather really lifted my mood and I finally feel at peace about life!

My orange cat (Noam Chomsky) doesn't have lymphoma! :highfive::clap::highfive:

The biopsies showed some helicobacter and we've got an official IBD diagnoses now. I wish it was something we could actually cure rather than manage but at least now we know what we're up against!

Edited to add 2nd rave: thank GOD for my vet clinic. For some insane reason they give employees free vet care (we pay for drugs and supplies at cost) and boy have I taken advantage of it. I can't even begin to imagine what his exploratory surgery + biopsies would have cost if I didn't work there...

YAY. :highfive: That's wonderful news!

Today is my birthday, and I have gotten fantastic presents!

First, I woke up to find that my SO had set up a treasure hunt with clues all over the house to lead me to my present from him: a novel by one of my favorite authors.

Then, I got a box from my sister that was full of yarn and a book called "Knit your own cat"

My mom sent me a little enameled metal hummingbird, which was cool enough, but then she also got a local nursery to deliver a dwarf meyer lemon tree to my front porch!😀 I have a little tree!

And finally, I got a phone call from a local bakery "to confirm that someone will be at the address to receive a delivery at 5." I hope said baked good comes with a card saying who ordered it! I'm guessing it's the friend who I signed up for weekly cookie delivery for a month for her birthday. But we shall see...

I am getting back $700 for tax returns- all of which I will use to make a payment on my school loan! It also looks like I can return some of the money I took out for living expenses🙂. One small step at a time to start paying off this beast, might as well start now..

I've been killing my midterms. Repro on Thursday was my highest score yet 🙂

Washbucket, that sounds like an amazing birthday!

It was! My SO took me out to dinner, too, and today we're going to visit my Aunt who lives ~2 hours drive away. She is going to cook us dinner, and she is an excellent cook. I'm doing pretty dang good on the food this birthday.😀

It was a dozen assorted cupcakes, and was indeed from that friend. Tasty tasty cupcakes.

We meet with our breeder tomorrow. If all goes well we may be the proud new owners of a blue merle smooth collie puppy. They will be born in May/June!!!!!

I'm super excited for you, but hearing the word collie just makes me shudder. haha We have a lot of them in the guide dog program and they're so loud. haha

done with my 5 midterms! :soexcited:

did my first SCUBA dive today! it was so much fun! we snorkeled at a beautiful reef for a while and then went to the underwater sculpture park in grenada 😀 😍

!! i <3 collies - but as a rough coat enthusiast, i just have to say ewwwww smooth 😉 but congrats on your potential new addition! they're such wonder dogs (though i'm 3/4ths of the way through pathology and it is shocking how often collies show up on the breed predisposition list for like everything!)

I started an internship at a zoo today. I am pleased, but physically very tired. I have two more nine hour days in a row before I take a "break" (I have class on Tuesday).

Standing less than three feet away from a timber wolf and letting a group of pronghorns circle and sniff me is, admittedly, better than a desk-based internship. The pay won't be better though, but this is the fist year that this zoo is even offering stipends to its interns. I should not complain. Some money trumps no-money.

That's pretty darn cool! 🙂

My rave:

After striking out with the emergency clinic (they aren't hiring at the moment) and the veterinary assistant position (he told me upfront that my availability was an issue, as I work at the dental clinic the days they most need someone, and on his follow-up phone call said that it was more or less my availability that made me impossible to hire at that time), my shelter is now allowing their volunteers to work with the shelter veterinarian. The first info sesh will either be next month or in the summertime, but I spoke with the coordinator and explained my situation and I'm basically being saved a spot. :soexcited: All they require me to do/have is 10 hours of volunteering with their youth program that I'm working for. Super excited to get involved in shelter med, and the veterinarian as everyone describes her seems like an amazing teacher. Apparently she often lets staff observe even if they're not volunteering, so it sounds like I could get some good experience with her, especially since they train you as fast as your capabilities allow. I'm hoping that this means I'll have more opportunities to learn certain tools of the trade.

Just purchased a Vera Bradley comforter for my bed for vet school next year. It was on sale AND I had a coupon! 😍 I haven't even bought the bed yet but I'm SUPER excited about the comforter! Indigo Pop is the color if anyone was curious... Oh the little things in life

COOL! I did the same (bought bedding and everything before buying my bed). That's what's nice about a sluggish economy. You an wait for the best sales and get get a lot of stuff for vet school in the next several months.

SO's gma wanted a firmer bed...SO elected ours. I was perturbed at first (how you gonna just give my bed away?) until I realized she has the one that SO had when we first met. When he moves from his moms to his dads it just sorta disappeared. Goodbye uncomfortable mattress, hello $3000 work of sleep art. And now both parties are sleeping like rocks.

This amount of luxury is new to me, and I could get used to it.

We met with our breeder. She's fantastic and was everything we were looking for in a breeder. We also met her dogs and they were just so sweet and loving. A smooth collie is the perfect choice for us. We both prefer the look of a rough collie but the smooth collies are so much lower maintainence (grooming wise).

So now we wait for her female to come into heat and see what comes out!

love love smooth collies!

just googled collie puppy pictures and omg, too cute.

We are going to try to hold out for a smooth blue merle baby boy. His name will be Odin.

Tehe, that's my sister's boyfriend's name! I absolutely love the name and the breed. I hope we'll get pictures when you finally have him! 😍

Got a B on a test that I was pretty sure I failed. Like, was considering preemptively emailing my advisor and telling him I suck. wow. I'm really good at half-assed guessing.

I did that during the Anesthesia midterm. Convinced I had like a 60 on it because there was a whole lot of guessing going on. As it turned out, I did pretty damn well. I glanced at the mark, double checked it and then handed it back to the secretary before the mark changed.

that is an *awesome* cat name. i'm glad he's ok!

I decided to go shopping for a new interview outfit to give me that extra bit of confidence for my UCVM interview this weekend. I found a really nice pant suit, top to go with it and a sweater at the Banana Republic Factory store for $120! I love outlets! 😀

My SO proposed yesterday! It was a complete surprise. Today we move into our new rental. 😍 So happy!

My interview at the ER / specialty clinic is tomorrow, I'm super excited !!

Thanks y'all 😀 I'm super stoked. This clinic has 20 doctors on staff, the majority of which are board certified in their respective fields. This is an Amazing opportunity to get more experience and do some networking for the future! :xf: :xf:
