I finally get to go to sleep for a few hours! :soexcited: So sleep deprived this week, it ain't even funny. Tomorrow, after work, I am going to crash for probably 15 hours. And it will be sweet.

Second to last weekend of this job. And I'm not working next Saturday (which is a rant - horse show is coming up and we still don't have a medic), so only three days left most likely.

Posting on the right thread this time...

Just passed my first science class ever with an A-. :soexcited: It's not a pre-req, but still. This proves to everyone who said I couldn't that I can pass an upper division class. Yes, this counted towards my psych major, but being a cognitive requirement, it contained more neuroscience and anatomy than anything. And I passed it!

I have a rave - just something I was pondering and wanted to share.

I may hate vet school sometimes... well, most of the time... but I have one professor that I can go talk to about anything, anytime, and basically just talk **** with whenever I need to vent, and I have three friends that I have made that I know will be my friends for the rest of my life, no matter what. And I'm thankful for that.

😍

94% on my bio lab practical! 😀

These guys made my night awful but then their squeaking made it all worth it. Also lets play guess the breed.

Breed: Mom looks like a light brindle and there are some brindle puppies (dark), then white and brown and a couple of light tan ones.... almost want to say shepherd but all of the shepherds that I can think of that are those colors usually have longer fur.... my mind went straight to mastiff but I have never seen a brown and white mastiff.... are these pure-bred puppies?

I'm really not great with puppies, but... I'm going to throw "Boxer" into the ring? 😛

Had orientation today at my new job, and it went Awesome!! I can't wait to get started!! Working in the ICU starting next Wed, and working the ER shift next Sun, mon, & Tues. we pretty much work 3-4 days on, 5-6 days off.. Leaving plenty of time to pick up OT and to work at my current job. I'm pretty stoked!!

They are purebred dogs and hint number one is that yes brindle is a very common color in the breed.

This is the whole reason I wanted to get into an ER clinic.. I love the Saturday/ Sunday pace at my current clinic. We are the only clinic with extended weekend hours so we see a Lot of emergencies.. Now I will only be seeing Emergencies and I'm super excited about it!!!! Oh and I'm super excited to work with board certified doctors in all sorts of specialties.. They have oncologists, neurologists, Derm, anesthesiologist, ER/CC , SX.. I'm so excited!

I work in that kind of situation now it is AMAZING! I am technically the ICU/ER assistant, but on Thursdays and Fridays I help with the specialties a lot because they are super busy and need extra hands. I get too see a lot of awesome specialty cases that way, but I also get a ton of variety from working in the ICU/ER. It's great. Coolest thing I've ever done: One of our internists let me place the PEG tube in a cat once. It was SO COOL! Enjoy your new job and take it all in! I bet you will LOVE it!

Thanks 😀 I am super pumped :soexcited:

I put a jacket on that I hadn't worn in about two months (it was in the back of my car...) and it was waayy more loose on me! I've been losing weight steadily for a while and it was really nice to feel it make a difference. 😀

I got two more birthday presents! (my birthday was a little over a week ago). Apparently shipping was wonky, so they didn't get here till yesterday.

My SO's parents sent me a bunch of variegated superwash Merino roving, which I am dying to spin, but I'm not good enough with a drop spindle yet. It's so beautiful, and it's giving me lots of motivation to practice.

My Dad got me the current edition of Saunders Comprehensive Veterinary Dictionary! It's so SHINY. I've been leafing through it and it's so cool. I already found a joke, too, which I will quote part of here:

"Brunus edwardii the urban, companion animal bear, noted for its low food requirements...Called also Ursus theodorus (USA) and Pooh, Paddington, or Brideshead bear (UK)."

Hee hee hee.

this was almost a rant, but yay for american airlines for working with me to fix a problem! when i come back to grenada, i schedule my first leg so that its late enough that i dont have to get up super duper early, but so that i have a few hours between landing in miami and leaving for grenada. i'm a super super anxious flier.

so today i get an email saying they've moved my 11a flight back to 12:50p giving me just over an hour in miami before i leave again. not cool. very stressful, plus i travel with an ESA who will need a potty break (outside of security) - not really feasible in about an hour.

i called AA to ask if i could change it and they said sure no problem. :wow: back to basically the original time! yay!! no hassle, no money, no nothing!

I think I feel way too flattered and get way too giddy over when I get complimented on my patient handling skills. 😳 But it really makes me feel proud of myself and all that I've achieved that I'm being trusted with more and more at work!

Had an awesome day! Got to sleep in and play with puppy. Then wings and beer with friends and introduced to a good looking single guy. :naughty:

Aww. I did rather disastrously on my last anatomy practical (really, it was quite bad) and one of the anatomy assistant profs just caught me and asked me if I wanted tutoring. It was kind of a one-off thing and I usually do fine, but I really appreciate the support system our school has. 😍

Oh man, it absolutely makes my day when someone compliments my patient handling skills. Right there with ya 😀

Hockey. If you don't know what it means, you probably don't care.

Lol I don't know anything about any sport. Someone was like "are you rooting for Kaepernick in the super bowl?" And I was just like 😕 and they were like "only the most famous football player to come from your university!!!" Lol

So jealous! I'm a Pens fan, but I have a soft spot for Iginla.

Coquette, I just wanted to bring this back to say that you had better take good care of him!!! Calgary is going to miss him.

This is not a rave unless you're a Pens fan.

I have a good rave!!! 😀

It was discovered about a month ago that my uncle had a large mass on his thyroid gland... they were finally able to remove it and they have found that the mass is NOT CANCER!!! 😀 *Happy Dance*

He is a tough man and even for his age (mid-80's) and other medical problems, he did great through the surgery and is recovering well... such a relief... I am sure my aunt feels like the weight of the world has been lifted off of her... 🙂

I like how my grandfather is somehow convinced I become a DVM through licensing but I go to school to get my PhD in Veterinarian.

And yes, this is a Rave. It honestly made my day.

Jarome Iginla is a Penguin. 😍

😍

Also because I'm a horrible person I love that Boston fans are all butthurt now. Serves them right. :meanie:

But what I really came here to rave about:

My hockey org is taking 2 teams to our annual state championship tournament and I was asked to captain one of them. It may end up being the very last tournament I play in with these girls (depending on how they fall during senior year and what I end up doing afterwards), so it really means a lot to me that they would make that gesture. 🙂

I got into an argument with my husband's uncle one time. He kept trying to tell me that vets go to med school and when they graduate you just pick whether you want to work with humans or animals. He didn't believe me when I said that's not how it works. He then told me if I could reattach the head of the turkey they just slaughtered and make it walk again that he would pay for my school.
