for a moment I was tempted to say "yup" when you asked "mine?" and "accidentally" steal the page :meanie:

hey, whatever happened to iatrosB? Did he decide to go into FM and abandon us completely?

I don't know. I even changed the sig to harass him and he hasn't commented. Maybe he's in a few rough months with his rotations. Those 3rd years abandoned us in here.

Hey, where is the speed limit 11?

I gotta go do the next step in my ELISA...

I found it quite funny too. I wish I knew.

Kind of like the signs:
Exit 7/8 mile ahead (who can measure that in their car)
Exit 1/10 mile ahead (I would hope a person can see it at this time and is ready to exit)

I think I'm pretty much done shopping for Christmas stuff. I'll take a look because I still need ideas for the little ones. What do you get a 16 year old that is at a mental age of 2-3? She's got all the Lego's, coloring books, crayons, and movies she needs. Trying to think of other interests, but I may have to just take her clothes shopping if I want to get her something practical. Then again, she has to try it on (weird fits for her), so online buying doesn't work. If you can come up with an idea, let me know.

Hi guys! Long time no see (uh... er... read)! I've been swallowed up by Ob/Gyn and then have spent the last few weeks on psych trying to get my head back together.

I'm currently sitting in my office at the VA inpatient psychiatry ward...

Never have I seen so many detox patients in my life...

This rotation has been pretty cool, though. We don't really have very many residents, so I get to write all the orders, get the meds, do the treatment plan, and anything else that needs done, so for the first time in third year I actually feel like I'm really having an impact (hopefully positive...) on patient care.

I don't feel like I'm just writing "extra" notes...

Nice to have you back ccfccp! Glad to hear things are better for you this rotation, and hopefully the rest will be more like this one! well, without all the psych and detox of course.

Hey, welcome back! I am on Psych, too. I kind of love it. I never knew it was so fun and interesting! Every rotation I do disproves stereotypes about other specialties in my mind.

At least I now know one specialty I have NO interest in.🙂

I still haven't lost my interest in the pelvic exam and the magic moment when the cervix pops into view 🙂

who is this? How about something educational like Leapfrog-type stuff? I love using amazon.com's age-specific suggestions

Hopefully some interest . . . If you like EM - lots of ob/gyn. But different. No repetitious C sections or inpatient silliness. And less grumpiness.

OK, back to USMLE Torture . . . I mean World - USMLE WORLD:meanie:

Maybe I should go waste time in a store and play with toys so I can see if she would be able to figure them out before giving up.

And of course as a stress-buster when I feel like it.

Just woke up and here's the series of thoughts:

What time is it...5:40.
Oops, why didn't my alarm go off.
I missed going to work out.
Maybe I should go work out right now.
It's dark outside.
Don't feel like getting up to go work out.
Oh wait, didn't I lay down for a nap?
Oh, it must me 540pm.
Aaaahhh...maybe I should lay here a little longer then.
No missed phone calls (was supposed to get one).
Ok, I'll check email and sdn now.

what is this, a poem?

if you had separated those out, we'd have 14 posts

Sorry, I still wasn't thinking at the time. Next time I'll try to do better. And no, it's not meant to be a poem. Just random thought processes my brain goes through.

And now it's time to take a nap. Give my face a rest for a few hours, then back to studying.

Back up again. Now for another serious question...what do you do if a person has an anaphylactic reaction to antihistamines? I have heard of this happening, but how do you treat them (I understand one of the main treatments for anaphylaxis is giving them an antihistamine)? Do you treat the ABC's and hope they survive or is there more you can do?

Woah, wierd. There's a post about something very similar on the main board. Did you have a patient like this or are you making up an "EM Worst Case Scenario" book? I would think Epi, IV steroids, and fluids.

I'm allergic to studying for step 2. I actually have a paradoxical drowsiness and an ADHD-type reaction. The only treatment that works is Easy Street Wheat. Wierd, huh?

Hey EM2B -

Is that you on the trapeze? I did a trapeze for the first time last year and it was super fun.

I found out my grandma was like this, which means there has to be others out there with this same problem too. I didn't know it was possible until I heard it, so then I got curious about how to treat them if you can't use one of the traditional meds.

That's me except step 1 and classes. Major drowsiness and major ADHD problem. I keep seeing flashes of bright light (or I think I do), so I always have to look for the source and never find it. I found I have to allow myself a nap in the middle of the day or I will be sleeping and/or not retaining a thing.

I think being on a trapeze would be great fun, but never even been that close to one. I like the idea of a big swing.

Now time to go work out and try to muster up some energy to study some more.
