The facebook group is prime once they create it!So, I think we're far enough into the cycle to bring this up. Where is everyone planning on living next year? Is there a better resources to network together and possibly find room mates?
Actually it is only going to have to take one of us to do it. I was just afraid to do it. I was looking at the other classes (2017 and 2018) and their admins are all students. I geuss we could always just email Katy and ask if it is ok that we start a group. The facebook group is prime once they create it!
Any students part of or interested in HPSP? I'm looking into it, specifically Air Force. I think rvucom has the most military students of any u.s. medical college - pretty cool
You are in your area for your entire 3rd year, and possibly part of fourth year. Most of fourth year is audition rotations, so they will be where ever it is you're hoping to do your residency.Does anyone know how long the 3rd and 4th year students generally stay in a certain location for rotations?
Parker is generally more expensive than south Aurora. They have a higher tax rate, so it drives up the costs a bit. I own a house in Aurora about 15mn from school, and there are plenty of students who rent their townhomes or houses to underclassmen. There are also some professors that have condos across the street that they rent out. Definitely wait for the FB pages to come up.Any current students/Denver natives have any insight or suggestions for housing? I've heard the Parker area is more pricey...
The Global Track and HPSP cannot be done together. The Global track requires that you do three international rotations in third and fourth year in order to graduate with the 'honors track' designation. It adds significant money to your loans because of the travel expenses. Also, some people find when they get there that they don't want the additional stress of any track. If the military is something you've considered in the past, it may still be a good option for you. The US military does a LOT of humanitarian work that is completely unrecognized by the press and public... Keep your options open! Also, you do NOT have to be in the global track to do the medical mission trips set up by the school.I was strongly considering it but have decided against it. I already have a habit of getting myself in over my head and over working myself, which everyone says is de rigueur for first and second year. I really want to reserve that six weeks off between OMS1 and OMS2, then ramp things up for the Great Boards Study Marathon. And from my understanding the International Medicine program is what attracted me to RVU in the first place and the two tracts are mutually exclusive.
You are correct about RVU having a lot of HPSP recipients. I believe somewhere I read that it has the most HPSP students of any school outside of UHSU.
Awesome. Congrats!! When was your interview?Accepted this afternoon!! loved rvucom!

If not currently in school, describe present activity and activity since you were last a full time student.
So I am a bit concerned about this question.
-Graduated in May
-Spent june pretty much recovering from surgery
-July-Sept MCAT study
-Spending time with family (I have 3 kids, didn't get a chance to spend time with family in undergrad)
-Oct-current studying for the MCAT.
What would I put for this question? Or should I forego sending a ii here?

Nah, you just graduated, you're fine. If it had been a few years since you were out of school and hadn't really done anything, then it could be a problem.
Disclaimer: I've nothing to do with, and no insider information with admissions. But I would be stunned if surgery, family time, and an MCAT since May was unacceptable.
As ACap said, this is for people who graduated and got a job for a couple years, not people who have had a gap year. You are still certainly welcome to put in things about studying and spending time with your family, but I would leave out information about your health.
Thank you so much guys! So technically I don't really need to write anything? I apologize about the late reply. MCAT next saturday and so I am quite exhausted and haven't been on SDN lately.
Hello All, this is my first time posting here so here it goes. I received an invite for an interview from RVUCOM! I'm excited because this is my first invite, although i am from far away. I am debating accepting the interview due to family and social pressures but besides the drama i thought i would ask what some of you thought the interview was like? Any specific questions or format that would be different from an average interview? Thanks!
Do any RVU students want to chime in on the RVU Institute of Surgical Simulation? What does this entail and is this something RVU students use? Also, do all students get to use the cut suit at some point?

I would say that if this is your only invite or if you have not received an acceptance then you really should take the opportunity and interview. If your family drama on the other hand is so significant that you can not accept an interview then you probably wouldn't come here in the end. Really you have to decide whether attending medical school is right for you now in your life. If you don't think you can fully commit yourself to the learning and studying that is required then don't spend the money and be regretful of your decision of attending medical school.Hello All, this is my first time posting here so here it goes. I think what they said was #1 school overall based on pass rate of COMLEX (99%), and #2 school overall based on COMLEX score. (unless I heard wrong, this was my understanding)
Congrats!! When did you interview?I was accepted last week!!! Can't wait to be out in Colorado with you guys!!!
I interviewed on the 13th of NovemberCongrats!! When did you interview?
To you and others in a similar situation, I'm withdrawing my acceptance today. Best of luck!Long time lurker, first time poster. I was placed on the alternate list. I'm trying to stay hopeful, but based on previous years' threads, movement from the list seems to vary widely. Not sure if anyone will reply to this, but to any current students: were you accepted from the alternate list? Did you send the school specific information?
Congrats to those of you who have been accepted! This school seems amazing and I am really hoping that I get a chance to be a part of the incoming class!
Were did you finally choose to go?To you and others in a similar situation, I'm withdrawing my acceptance today. Best of luck!
DMU unless I get in to the UofU. Then it will be a hard choice.Where did you finally choose to go?
I really liked DMU as well but the killer for me was its in Des Moines. To flat for this westerner. Good luck to ya and maybe we will see ya in residency or clinical rotations in the future.DMU unless I get in to the UofU. Then it will be a hard choice.
Did anyone pick RVUCOM over other acceptances? Can you tell me your decision process?
Hey there. I was accepted back in September, and I chose this school over the other school I was accepted to. I was actually fortunate enough to get a lot of interviews, but only interviewed at 4 schools (3 DO, 1 MD) because I fell in love with RVU.
First of all, I love the location. Enough said there.
Second, it was my first interview. Everyone else interviewing was so nice, and it felt like more of a corroboration than a competition to get a spot. My interviewers were excellent and I just felt that instant click.
Third, it is only an osteopathic school. Everyone that works there is working for you to succeed and to teach only osteopathic students which I think is great.
Fourth, I love the curriculum. Going over topics 3 times in total is amazing.
Fifth, I am entering the Air Force HPSP to pay for school, and RVU is the biggest school with military scholarship graduates out of all schools (MD and DO) besides the military medical school.
There are more reasons, but here are some for now!

There really isn't one. If there is a speaker on campus that you plan on attending, they ask that you look professional to make a good impression, but for day to day, it's up to each student!Thank you! I am so excited to interview.
There was info in the material they sent us home with. There is some specific requirements but they were fairly broad.is there a specific laptop requirement for the incoming class? or can we use whatever we want?

No, not mandatory attendance. Only special sessions and labs are mandatory. Yes, lectures are recorded, and they're posted to our interactive calendar within 15 minutes of the lecture finishing. Finally, I have bought 2 books so far for my first semester. I bought Netter's for anatomy and our OPP lab manual textbook. That's it, and it hasn't been a problem for me at all.Mandatory attendance here correct? Are video tapes recorded? If so, in what turn around time are they given to students? Do you have to buy books?
For me it was about 1 week, but I think officially it can be up to 3 or 4? They are normally very good about quick turnaround though.out of curiosity what's the average wait time for a replay from the school? This school looks amazing and the anticipation is killing me
Thanks for the reply I'm about to enter my fourth week waiting so I have my fingers crossedFor me it was about 1 week, but I think officially it can be up to 3 or 4? They are normally very good about quick turnaround though.
