Where are you coming from?
 
You won't have to necesarrily pay tolls.
But if you do they're ~$1 each since you won't have an ipass. Bring some change.

hmm...I can't help you then. I drove from Michigan. My inclination is that I-90 is not a toll road but I'm really not sure. Plenty of Chicagoans on SDN so I'm sure someone can help you out. Good luck at the interview :luck:
 
the tolls are under a dollar for all the those on 90 and 294...they should all be 40 cents


and yes, both 90 and 294 are toll roads. you'll hit like 4-5 tolls between ohare and north chicago.
 
I was 10 cents short for the booth and had to send the money in.

if you are coming from o'hare in the rush hour taking 90W to 294N i would give myself probably at least 2 hours. in good traffic its about a 1 hour drive...but give yourself that extra hour if there is bad weather or a car crash.

Thats where they store all the salt and snow clearing equipment for the brutal Chicago winters.
 
Fantastic! I really do not look forward to having to contend with such horrible weather...if I get in. But at least it will give me a great excuse to stay in and study.

Wow, I guess I'll see you there! 😉

I flew in today and took the 294 N from O'Hare; the 294 N eventually merged into the 94 W. I paid $1 to enter the 294, but that was the only toll I had to pay.

Anyways, sorry for hijacking the thread. Please carry on with whatever it was you were talking about before. 🙂

Yes, in fact I'll be crawling around in the vents at Rosalind Franklin during my extra day here just to see if I can hear someone else getting interviewed to give me that extra edge!

Actually, I just thought I'd use the extra day to check out Chicago. I'm off to get some pizza and White Castle 😉

Get some Lou Malnatis or Giordanos while youre in Chicago. Best pizza in the world!!!!

by my house.... giordanos was 50% off on mondays and those that have been to giordanos know that is a sweet deal because it brings down the price to regular pizza range. but now they cut it down to 30% off and its not even croweded anymore... just like 3 ppl there. its really sad.

whats worse, i am starting to prefer ginos east and lou malnatis. they have become worse in their service.

yet, sometimes, i find myself there (only on mondays).

Ehhh, White Castle. I thought I was in for a treat when I walked 6 blocks to get to a White Castle when I interviewed at Downstate. I would have to say that it makes McDonalds look like In-N-Out. Seriously, what type of pre-term fetus burgers are those jokers trying to pass off?

You hadn't been drinking, thats your problem. You have to be in the right "state of mind" to enjoy White Castle.
 
That explains why that one guy who the police killed in a White Castle parking lot awhile back was on PCP.
 
does anyone know when the next meeting is...when i went there on the 20th they said that i should expect something in mail within couple of weeks...i think the couple weeks are up!
 
The adcom is meeting friday (Tomorrow!!)

I think they do acceptances via snail mail; so next week some time.
 
You can call for a status update if they answer their phone. I will be doing that Monday.
 
For those who were asking about interview invite. I got invite for April 17th, I guess they are interviewing until may. Though it might be wait list spots.

i dont think they can announce the result of the meeting regarding your acceptance via phone (you have to wait for the snail mail) - from what ive read either earlier on this thread or another one...

also they usually send acceptance letters about a week after the meeting, so if accepted, you can expect a mail later next week or early next next week (depending on where you live)...

This is true. They won't release decisions over the phone. We will be notified if we are accepted via snail mail. So if they are meeting today, they might send letter out on Monday. I would get people in Chicago would hear as early as Wed next week :scared:

If you are the Chicagoland area or midwest, I would think next week. Really depends on if they send the letters or today or next week. Hopefully today :scared:
 
Do you think they will inform us if we are placed on hold?
 
from my understanding of their admissions process, u will only receive an acceptance letter if u are accepted...

for those who do not receive the letter are put on hold until the next meeting...

then the next, then the next, until orientations in july...

if u still are not accepted by then, thats when u finally get the rejection letter...


and regarding acceptance letters, i think they mail them out towards the end of next week...

so depending on ur location, u will probably receive them end of week of 12th or beginning of week of 19th (if accepted)...

3/6 you say?! i probably walked by you in the hallway - i saw a bunch of interviewees in their nice clothes walking around! 🙂

you know, actually, the weather in chicago has really mellowed out the last couple of years. we don't receive nearly as much snow as we used to, and it seems like it stays warmer longer and does not get as cold in the winter. hope that helps! they do a really good job of clearing the roads when snow does hit, and there is always the trains. i take the train sometimes when the weather is bad - i live pretty far away - 2 hour train ride for me! but if you live in the city or the closer burbs (arlington heights, skokie, vernon hills, libertyville) you will have no problem! 🙂

Actually, nevermind. I get my mail at my aunt's house (50 miles away) and she reads me the mail. I *thought* she knew I was waiting on the CMS decision this week or next week but she's old and....oh well. Anywho, my rejection letter was from UC Davis (my dream school, which is why there was no further *discussion*, she didn't want to bum me out) and I assumed it was CMS 'cause I wasn't expecting UCD till' week after next. So, I'm really sorry to freak y'all out. Believe me I know how taxing this process is. On a lighter note, we may be classmates and I'll allow one gloved punch to the jaw to anyone caused distress by my post. 😳
 
I interviewed on February 6th. I called two weeks ago, talked to Victor Castro, who told me to call back today or tomorrow.

I just got off the phone (like, twenty minutes of hold music!), and was told that no decision had been made on my file, and the next adcom meeting was in early April. ::sigh::
