Dr. Van and others...

a good news for u guys...

an SDN member (from another thread) was informed that RFU has only accepted 220 thus far in the process...

that means u guys have a good shot at getting accepted later on even if waitlisted right now...

last year or the year before (i dont know which one they provide on US News), they accepted 485 for 185 spots...

good luck!!!

i personally know 2 people with spots at RFU that will be giving them up on that deadline date.

Dr.Van 1 for you, 1 for me 🙂

when is the deadline that all the students holding on to multiple acceptances, have to drop all but one.

...and that same year, here are the stats on US News:

in-state: 1,240 applied, 104 interviewed, 102 accepted, 37 enrolled
out-of-state: 5,202 applied, 485 interviewed, 383 accepted, 148 enrolled

They said they are having another meeting in about 2 weeks. I haven't gotten accepted yet either🙁 . If I didn't get excepted the first time the committee met after my interview, is there really any hope that they will accept me the second time they meet (or during subsequent times). I interviewed Feb. 4

dude I don't mean to nitpick, but it's "accepted", not "excepted".

Sure there is. Unless they sent you a rejection letter, then your application is still under consideration. Most probably they haven't even gotten to your application yet.

who havent yet heard about an interview? Are they done inviting?

sorry but i think they're close to done (if not already done) inviting for interviews...

interviews were already set up for mid-april even a couple weeks ago...

Has anyone seen a RFU/CMS Class of 2011 thread? I can't find one anywhere.

Did you get those stats from the us news website? the 'premium online content' that u have to pay $15 for?
I was actually going to post a thread asking if anyone has this info, about RFU. Bc i read previously 98% of instate interviewees get in. That sounded like an enormous, inflated, way too good to be true figure.

so i was assuming classes would start july 30...since thats about when they started this year...but the match list e-mail said the second week in august...is that true? sweet news if it is.

they just instituted a "unified academic calendar" for the whole campus, so I think m1s will be starting a week or two later this year.

http://www.rosalindfranklin.edu/registrar/calendar.cfm

also - they usually put up the entire year's schedules (by term: Fall, Winter, Spring) as .pdf files accessible from a drop-down menu on the student portal page. wouldn't hurt to take a glance at this year's, just to get a feel for what the schedule's like. next year's probably won't come out until this summer, maybe july even.

yup, i paid 15 bucks for those numbers~
enjoy them for free!!! ^^

so, if two meetings have gone past and they "haven't made a decision on your application" (direct quote when i called). what does that mean? they were not able to give me a straight answer on what it means.

i wasn't overly impressed with rfu and won't be going there if i get in, but i still paid them a lot of money and want to hear back

you should withdraw. as you can see, lots of folks around here are anxious to hear from them because they actually want to attend, not because they feel their $100 should earn them a chance to have their ego boosted. if you know you're not going to matriculate at a school it's pointless to stay in the running.

i agree with moniker...
whats the point of waiting to see if u get accepted if ur just gonna withdraw anyway...
thats just being very selfish and inconsiderate...

I third this.
I was curious to see if i would get off the waitlist at a school in IA, but I knew i would never go there; and for so many others it was their #1. so i withdrew.
if you got in at other places, just assume that you're good enough for here too 👍

I'm just curious to know, are all medical school interview:acceptance ratios this high?!?!

Honestly, I'm still in disbelief. But after my interview today, if they were just trying to see if I wasn't insane and had a few ounces of motivation in me, I'd buy it.

yeah, i feel the same way. the interview was very lax. they didnt feel the need "to grill" and i was very happy abou that.

no... of all the schools ive checked stats for, this was by far the highest...

does anyone know when the next adcom meeting is?

I didn't get in anywhere else, but knew that I'd rather wait 1 more year than go to RFU so I withdrew my application. Now that I see those ratios, I wonder why they didn't tell me anything for 4 and a half months before I withdrew....

ive heard that they had accepted around 220 by the last meeting...

they usually accept almost 500 for the 185 spots...

acceptances keep going out until orientations (this year, early august)...

i think that there would have been a good chance of acceptance if u had not withdrawn (if u had ur interview already)...

and about ur decision to take another year for applications instead of going to RFU even if accepted...

there are only 125 MD med schools in US...

any med school is a good one...

RFU might not have the best reputation, but it still is a great school...

if i were in ur situation, i would have jumped at the opportunity to go to any med school...

plus there's no guarantee that u'll get in next year anyway...

glad you withdrew! you sound...less than desirable too.

Wow...the thought process of some pre-meds just boggles my mind. I seriously hope you had a legit reason to turn it down besides the same BS that always pollutes these boards about reputation, probation, etc. etc., b/c if not, I hope you don't kick yourself in the a$$ next year for letting go of an actual acceptance.

hey guys. this time last year i was exactly in your position. i had interviewed in jan, and by late march i was refreshing the sdn rfu adcom thread every other second. and here i am now, finishing up my first year at rfu.

let me say this place has really been great. i think the first 2 years are pretty similar anywhere, but i'm very glad i ended up here. good luck to those of you still waiting!

here's a link to the match list:

Didn't quite have that number in either plastics or optho this year. But we had a massive year with rads and EM (as usual).

Hi everyone,

After reading all the post from the beginning, I almost had a heart attack. You guys started freaking out since january!!! I got nothing until 1st week of march. My interview is on the 17th of April. I am happy that they are considering me.

Anyways, who is going on the 17th?

good luck everyone

I hope all the acceptance statistics above are correct.

That's exactly the right attitude! It's good to see such enthuisiasm on this thread. I hope all of you catch a break, like I did with CMS. Your career is what you make of it. Hard work pays off tremendously.
Also let me plug for our PM&R peeps on our match list: 10! By far the largest amount in recent memory for our school and I can't think of any other school that has produced as many. I believe we have an *excellent* PM&R rep out there! 👍

So, I think I will apply to the BMS program incase I dont get into the MD program. Is there anyone else who is thinking this.

So, are we all pretty much thinking that the next adcom meeting is going to be on the 6th? They said early April, but I'd really love it if they'd meet this Friday.

we did pretty good in a lot of things this year it seems? of course there were some specialties not represented (uro, path, plastics), but that's not too crazy. it looks like in the areas we did match, we matched well and abundantly.

i would guess the 6th...

they met on fridays for their past meetings...

good luck to all!!!

Hey everyone just letting you all know that I am going to be giving up my RFU spot here in the next week or so. I hope one of you guys waiting gets it. :luck:

where did u decide to go?

Has anyone emailed RFU yet; in terms of when the next adcom date is? I interviewed recently and my app hasn't been reviewed at all yet, so i can email them. altho I don't think they (or any other med schools) will be making many decisions until after that May 15 deadline date. Maybe a few acceptances to the superstars; but I don't really have my hopes up until after then.

I'll be traveling abroad for a month starting April 17, so does any info come via snail mail so my parents can open it for me; or should i request they send email correspondence to my dad so he can tell me whats up?

they havent had their meeting yet since ur interview...

they will be meeting early apirl...

if they decide to accept u during that meeting, u will be notified via snail mail in mid april...

if not, u will not be getting any notices in the mail...

instead u will be reviewed again at the next meeting...

if u do not get an acceptance letter before u leave the country, u should ask ur parents to look out for a letter from RFU, and send the letter of intent along with a $100 check for u (since u only have 2 weeks to send it in) if u get in, of course...

although that would mean forging ur signature...

or u can inform the admissions office that u'll be out of the country, and ask to give ur parents the right to sign the letter of intent should u be accepted...

april 6th... sigh, the days need to go faster.
