DrVan mentioned earlier that the meeting will be next week...

assuming this is so...

since they usually have their meetings on fridays, it will be on april 13...

since they mail out acceptance letters the following thurs (this has been so for the previous two meetings that i know of), it will most likely be postmarked april 19...

so for those of u waiting, start checking ur mailboxes april 20 or 21...

This is the only school I havent heard from, now that I got my VT rejection today.

Hey Bigdog, how are you?

Last I heard, it was going to be the Week of April 9th. I don't know for certain, but I believe they pushed the meeting till next week due to Good Friday. Good luck =)

by april 20 i'll be in the motherland (india) so maybe my parents can give me the best phone call of my life in the middle of the night when i'm there?!?!?

i just realized, one month without sdn and facebook. what am i going to do...

if u wont be in US to receive an acceptance letter should u be accepted (hopefully), either ur parents must forge ur signature on the letter of intent or u must call the admissions office to give ur parents the right to sign off the letter. good luck and enjoy ur stay in india!

Hey didn't realize you were desi. Have fun in India. I have never been back to the homeland 😳

I agree with I wannagomed, you better tie up some loose ends with the admissions people before you leave. Good luck🙂
 
a little off topic....but are there any sort of scholarships or anything that students can be offered? would they only be offered AFTER turning in the financial aid application? just curious since i just submitted my application..

Yeah i haven't been there in 7 years and i have a semester off cuz i finished undergrad early; so this is my time.
I didn't know you were desi either DrV; now i'm rooting for you even more! 🙂
yeah, i'll call up the admissions office and let them know i suppose.
maybe i should even write up a letter of intent for my parents to mail out....

altho i'll be back on may 15, the day all the people not going to RFU will be exposed, so if i mail it then that should be fine as well... thoughts?

side note- DrV and Samosas, thats all RFU needs- more desis. lol
 
Anyone have any pointers for interview? Mine is next week.

I havign particular trouble finding info on the school.
 
just relax. the interview wasnt so bad. i didnt get "grilled". but, nonetheless, be prepared for the ethical stuff.

I was there last summer. i went back after 10 years and it was good to go back...i wanted to stay there permanently but here i am.

i am assuming you a non-desi? if you are desi, you have had a quite a sheltered life.

when we say desi (equivalent of deshi), we mean belongin to the subcontinent.

literally, desi just means as stated above, "belonging to one country" but only a select few know what it means and so its relegated to meaning indian.

a term for indians used by indians.

its kinda like FUBU (For Us By Us) for brown ppl. in a sense of speaking.😀

I have an interview at RFU in the end of April and I am wondering if anyone knows whether or not there are any open slots. Do you think that this is most probably just for a spot on the waitlist? Also, how long did it take RFU to get back to those of you who have interviewed? I am wondering if I might hear back faster since it is going to be close to May 15 when all the movement happens. Thanks for any input.
 
if you have no other acceptance... its obvious you go. if you do, then i assume you should hear back within a month. i am pretty sure its for a spot and since there is a high turnover rate there, you have decent shot.

give them a call once or twice a month...anything more than that is probably sounding desparate. as far as i know...some schools document every contact you have with them (email/snail mail/phone)

at this point, i dont think calling to check ur status is gonna help...
decisions are made at the monthly meetings...
and even if u call right after a meeting, they will not give u a straight answer...
just sit tight and try to be patient...
u'll know when u get a snail mail...

I'm sure you're all darling, but I can tell you now that there should be no intraclass dating. A good reason why:

Last year's class at the school where I'm doing my undergrad had a couple who started dating the first week of classes. Sometime during their second year, they broke up, and it was a big to-do. The class is really small, and all PBL, so everyone spends a TON of time together and knows everybody's business.

So they're doing Urology, and they're all in lecture. The professor asks how long it takes a man to go through the full sexual sequence. Nobody raises their hand. Then, ex-girlfriend's hand slowly goes up, the professor calls on her, and she sheepishly answers something like, "...seven minutes?" Everybody's eyes shift from her, to ex-boyfriend.

And *that* is why you don't date people in your own medical school class 🙂

Wow this is one long waiting thread. How long have you been waiting since interview? I actually have my interview at CMS tomorrow morning. Anyone else interviewing there tomorrow? Anyway, :luck:

I had my interview on Feb. 20th....and still waiting to get an answer.
 
Hey Guji, I interviewed on Feb 22 and have heard nada. Not to worry, I dont think that we have even been reviewed yet, but hopefully this month brings us good news.
 
I had mine on Feb. 1st. Haven't heard anything either.
 
so, i called today to ask the lady when the adcom would meet again and she was nice but a little confused (i dont mean that in a bad way but like phoebe from friends confused). so she asks me my amcas id and then puts me on hold for 15 mins (no joke) and im thinkin why the **** is taking 15 mins to get my app? its never taken that long before, i hope they didnt lose it.:scared: :scared:
then she gets back on the phone and says, "i have completed the interview and that i havent been reviewed yet." so i was like, "i know that, but i wanted to know when the adcom was meeting." she said, "she didnt know."
i said thanks and hung up. i was happy that they didnt lose my happy but i was not happy that she kept me on the edge for 20 mins for the "i dont know."

oh well. wait i must.

So next year when we are all studyin at CMS can we call each other by our sdn names. Drcuriou, DrVanNost, Jcc, Guji, Samos etc.. HAHAHA I hope we all get in.:laugh: :scared:
 
You can count me in on the chase of an RFU acceptance...I went on a Feb8th interview and haven't heard back from them yet. Currently, I have a UIC acceptance, but for some reason, I really like RFU.👍

Pssssh. I sent in my damn UIC app in the beginning of October. I haven't heard anything. I call them, but they say it's being reviewed....everytime. I'm beginning to not like UIC. I applied for their undergrad program and never even heard from them. Neither an acceptance nor a rejection. I really think they are organizationally (word?) ******ed.
 
Come on! Someone please accept me!

will donate to SDN the first day of med school if i get accepted in the month of May, will donate if accepted in June (but not as much), and July (not as much as June)

doesn't not sound like a plan to me...i hate the MCAT (as if anyone does!)....my PS and BS will go up or stay the same...but the verbal will either go down or stay the same....
 
I'm pretty sure that my VR score has only to go up from how low it is. That's what's killing me right now. It's like a thorn that grows and grows....ahh!

I just interviewed today at RFU. I was impressed with the interview. Considering I found this site only a few months ago, I was surprised to find that most of the other interviewees were familiar with SDN. BTW, If you interviewed today, who are you (on SDN)? I'm the guy that gave four of you guys a ride to the airport. Let me know how things turn out for you guys. Good luck!
