I know there is another thread on this topic from 09, but the responses are not helpful.
I am fortunate to have been accepted to both and have a hard time choosing between the two. With many pro's and cons from each, it comes down to Temple providing a more comfortable M1 and M2 year (much nicer facilities/study lounges/library/lab/etc), and Rush providing better M3/M4 years, with regard to Cook County hospital and Rush University Hospital training. As of now I am interested in either Primary Care (IM) or Emergency Medicine. Temple has provided a rather generous financial aid package, and Rush has yet to offer a package, but I dont know how close they will come to each other, and if money should really play in to the decision (as it is far from a full ride).

Also, Rush's class size is about 128, while Temple's is around 200. Not sure how much of an issue that is. I don't think there is a real ranking difference between the two.

Thanks for your help

congrats! temple is in an area were you could get good clinical training based on the population. ive only heard great things about chicago as a big fun city. temple has center city nearby via subway. the new bulding at temple is really nice so that is something to consider

Pick Temple so I might be able to get of the WL at Rush 😉

Since Temple did offer you a good aid package that is something I would definitely consider (as I think Temple and Rush are pretty closely comparable schools), I've only heard good things about Temple. Although I didn't interview there, so really have no constructive input on Temple beyond hear-say.

Rush is definitely a great school though, and just as you are, I was super impressed with the clinical training at Rush.

Any idea if you would want to do a residency/practice in Chicago/Midwest or in Philly/PA? Probably not a big deal though overall.

Did you "like" one school more?

Sorry I can't be more helpful, either way you definitely can't go wrong!

for me it would come down to location, as the clinical training will be good at both schools if you want to work with an urban population. which city do you prefer, chicago or philly?

I agree with you, training at cook county hospital is hard to pass up; my clinical training at temple would be in pittsburg, great training as well at Alleghany General. And I really really liked Chicago while visiting there, especially compared to philly. Thanks for your response

Pick Rush so I can get off the waitlist at Temple 🙂

off topic, but when did you get your fin aid from Temple? They're really slacking with getting awards out.

Also, as far as your EM interests go, I think Temple is one of the best around for training in that field.
