Does anyone know if the Bethlehem or North Philly campus is more competitive? I know Bethlehem has fewer seats but I assume they also have fewer applicants.

I imagine Philly is less competitive because there’s less seats. The stlukes campus is very close knit and that includes the staff. I honestly just on a whim picked the one I felt matched my application better and got lucky. Pick the one that matches your application better.

@wysdoc

i don't think the questions have changed. all questions are required and have a 2,000 character (incl. spaces) limit

Secondary received...has anyone submitted and also have an issue with Casper being marked as "not received" although it's been sent to other schools? Unsure if the LKSOM staff have to manually mark it as received or not

Same here. My letters also show up as not received. I assume that they just need someone to manually check it off.

Thank you for the reassurance. I'm just so nervous!!

I'm still waiting and I'm from Philly and had my app verified before applications were transmitted to schools. I am receiving secondaries from various schools days after SDN users reported receiving them, it probably has something to do with how the system batches and sends them out, I wouldn't worry about it. I am a reapplicant and same thing happened to me with some schools last time but I eventually received them.

If you're anxious and worried you can start prewriting now so you can submit as soon as you receive their secondary!

Thankss :) Best of luck on your apps too~

I've already started drafting for some schools, so definitely on track for that.

secondaries received OOS but casper marked not received even though its been a month since i took it but my LORs are marked received

Does anyone know if it automatically submits your application after paying? I didn't get a confirmation email of submission but I can't edit my essays anymore. It also says that an action is required but the only thing I see is that I need to send them my casper test score, but other schools have received it so idk what to do help pwease.

For safesies, I'd honestly email both CASPer and Admissions. So many people have had a similar problem, so you're not the only one. If they say there's issues with sending/receiving things then I guess ask when things will be resolved.

no judgement but for clarification, you paid before you submitted the essays?

I submitted it yesterday, and I just got an email saying my app is complete and under review. Does this mean I will be hearing back about an interview/rejection soon? I'm wondering because I usually get the "app received" email right after I submit, but this time it was the next day. What's everyone's experience with this?

Previous applicants would know better, but I got that "app received" email a day after I submitted too, on a Sunday. Because it was over the weekend I am inclined to believe it was just an automatic update sent a little later rather than an actual sign of movement. But ofc, others probably know better, this is just my thought process

I received an email saying it was complete today after I submitted yesterday.

Subject line: LKSOM Application Update

It specifically says "Your application is now complete and has been placed under review"

Further instructions in the email show how to send an update and imply it may be a long process and that my application was submitted.

How much did you all write for the prompt about which campus. I feel like I don’t have that much to say, but I don’t want to come across as disinterested…

for a school with two separate why us essays, they have very little info on their website compared to most other schools:rolleyes:

Is anyone able to provide some info on the two campuses? I am struggling to determine which one I would prefer.

Does anybody know which campus is more competitive to get into?

I wasn’t sure though because more people apply to the philly campus
Would you rather apply to a medical school with 140 seats or one with 40 seats with your $100? I can't speak to the optics of how many people apply to Bethelem vs North philly but with the info we have, North philly seems to be the more enticing option.

Would also add that I haven't heard a single positive thing about the Bethelem campus from the people who go there. There are less resources since its not attached to the Temple mega hospital or research center.

Does anyone know if there is data available on admissions statistics between the two different campuses?

This doesn’t make any sense to me and I would definitely disagree. Harvard also has more seats than St. Luke’s, does that mean it’s easier to get into? Temple gets a million applicants each year because it’s in Philly and has relatively low mcat/gpa. Taking it out of Philly, I’d imagine the number of applicants plummets, and it should be a little easier to get accepted.

Terrible reasoning. Harvard example doesn't make sense lol, you're making it seem like the difference between North philly and LKSOm is the difference between harvard and temple. Their median MCAT is 520+. With the information we have, we have no reason to believe there is that drastic of a difference in the statistics across the two schools.

When there isn't that big of a difference in stats, you should apply to the school with more seats but you should make your own decision

Let me offer an informed (and maybe slightly biased) perspective on the St. Luke's campus, and feel free to message me.

If you want to live and work in an urban environment, apply to the Philly campus, Bethlehem is not for you. It's fairly small at 75k people, and neighboring Allentown is bigger at 125K people. For this reason St Luke's campus attracts a certain type of candidate and I would say 90% of the students are very happy with their choice. There are a lot of corn fields and Door Dash at 11 pm probably ain't happening. But in whatever limited free time you have there is a lot to do. The town has more festivals than anywhere I've ever been. Look into Musikfest which is happening right now it's pretty cool. If you're looking for concerts the local casino has a decent sized arena with some cool shows. Looking for sport events or other concerts on the weekend, Hershey and Philly are both under 90 minutes.

Regarding the hospital and neighboring facility I find it top notch. Yes I know what a big urban hospital looks like, I have a lot of clinical experience at one. There are almost no specialties or procedures here you would not be able to experience. I sat in on some really cool daVinci robotic procedures a few weeks ago. There's a level 1 trauma center. Any outpatient clinical rotations not at the hospital are just a few minutes away. As far as curriculum, you have access to the same material and lectures as the students in Philly as they're all recorded and no one goes to live lectures anyway. For fourth year the only rotation I wouldn't get to experience locally is opthamology, would have to do an away rotation for that.

As far as research goes, there are opportunities in almost every specialty. You are not going to get to do wet lab research, but if that's what you want to do then you should be at a different school and not even the Philly campus. You're going to be doing chart reviews, meta-analysis, systematic reviews, etc. No shortage of publication opportunities, the preceptors are super helpful in publication guidance.

I can't comment on the ratio of applicants per seat for the two campuses, not privvy.
For someone from an urban city, I don't think I would survive on this campus so luckily I made the right choice (for me) in north philly Lol.

I also think that should probably be the most important part of your decision to go to a specific school, not which campus is harder to get into. I wouldn't take spending 4 years in a place you might not like lightly
