Maybe a dumb question but are deposits due ON or BY April 15th? Like can we still accept our offer tomorrow? I’m going to commit but want to wait till the last moment so I can take full advantage of the 2 week rescission window in case I get off a waitlist
It says to details to pay will be given in "late spring". We can still accept our offer for now without payment.

But what happens if you hear back from a waitlist after 2 weeks and want to decline RVC? I am in the same boat.

Sorry I meant responding to the offer not the deposit. Like can I still accept my offer tomorrow or does it close tonight at midnight

I’m not sure entirely sure on this, but the deposit is not due until July. So if you revoke your offer before then I don’t believe they can force you to pay it. If you revoke your offer after you pay, then you lose it.

Personally, I am not worried about losing the deposit but I know this is a big factor for some applicants.

Does RVC wait till after deposit day to pull off the waitlists? Has anyone been pulled off yet?

Anyone else get the email about being on the hold list and to reach out by the 23rd if still interested? I presume movement will start after then? Is anyone not planning on staying on the waitlist and does anyone have any idea how many people declined their seat? Tyyy 🙂

Are you on the waitlist for 4 year and accepted to the 5 year? I didn't get that email.

Are you on the waitlist for 4 year and accepted to the 5 year? I didn't get that email.
Only waitlist for 4 year no acceptance for 5 yr! I got the email at 7:20 AM EST - it basically just asked if I am on the hold list and "
we expect to be able to make some decisions regarding the hold list in the next week or so and therefore want to ensure our records are up to date. Therefore, now that the VMCAS decision deadline has passed, can we ask if you would update us as to whether you wish to remain on our hold list, or if you have accepted an offer at another school or no longer wish to be considered by the RVC. We can then update our records and be in a position to make an offer to those who want one as quickly as possible should a space become available. The deadline for your response is 23rd April 2025. If we do not hear from you by this time we will assume you no longer want to be considered for a place at the RVC." thats so strange it didnt get sent to you perhaps check your spam or see if it comes tomorrow?

I received the email asking me to accept or deny the waitlist position on Tuesday, and I just declined my spot as I have accepted my seat at another university. I hope this brings good news to someone!

just wondering if anyone has heard from the waitlist yet? yesterday was the deadline to respond if you'd like to remain on the waitlist so im assuming it should start to move any day now!
and on another note - how many students from the US accepted their seat and plan on going with them being on probational accreditation with the AVMA? I have chosen to remain on the waitlist but it is intimidating to know that we wont know the updated status of the accreditation here until almost being done with Y1

I applied for the 4-year program and was placed on the waitlist for both the 4 and 5-year programs. I received an email pulling me off the waitlist for the 5-year program around 2 pm EST while still remaining on the 4-year waitlist. I accepted my offer! Good luck to all those still waiting!

They gave me until today to respond since they didn’t email me until Tuesday, so hopefully today was the last day to respond for everyone so they can get working on moving the waitlist! Best of luck, hopefully they get working on it quickly!!

Does anyone know what the email this morning meant with RVC saying they would facilitate students qualifying for the NAVLE if they lose their accreditation and what the pathway would look like if I am to get off the waitlist?
If anyone didnt get the email this is the bulk of it: "Current indications from the Council on Education (COE) indicate that, should an international school lose accreditation, graduates of that school who have yet to pass the NAVLE would be required to qualify for the NAVLE by alternative pathways until accreditation is regained. The RVC would facilitate this, if necessary. As a reminder, our RCVS (UK) and EAEVE (European) accreditations would be unaffected by the status of our AVMA accreditation."

I’m guessing they mean ECFVG or PAVE

Do we think that RVC is going to loose its accreditation this year?
I sure hope not - i hope they realize they are on the brink and add something to help NAVLE taking students. i applied there, loved the info session/interview and Im waitlisted and would LOVE to go there but its so hard to know if it would be a poor choice or not especially since we wont know till next April

I will be declining my 4 year program seat soon. Hope one of you all hears good news!
Sounds like a smart move. Unless by some miracle the numbers go up the school is going to lose accreditation. What this means for existing and new students is that you cannot be licensed in the US or Canada. Some people think there is a lot of time left but there is not and it is a bit of a hail mary at this point. The issue is primarily the UK and EU students who take the exam unprepared just to see what happens if they ever decide to migrate to the US. It is a pretty well known issue on campus. For close to 100K a year for NA students you need to think wisely

The real issue is that the US and Canadian students have an additional 4 year science degree, most from the US so they are very familiar with the format of the NAVLE and study as if their life depended on it, which it does in some ways. The UL and EU students pay almost nothing to attend and take the exam without understanding the impact it has had on the other students when they don't pass. After all they still get to practice in their home country without a hiccup.

anybody interested in working in north america after attending this school should be carefully reading their statement about AVMA accreditation which is publicly available on the RVC website.

especially important is this paragraph:
"What does it mean that the RVC is on probationary accreditation status with the AVMA?

The RVC currently holds probationary status and is actively seeking to regain full accreditation which it must do by April 2026. The consequences of losing accreditation are outlined on the AVMA website. Should a school lose accreditation, graduates of that school who have yet to pass the NAVLE would be required to qualify for the NAVLE by alternative pathways. RCVS (UK) and EAEVE (Europe) accreditations would be unaffected should AVMA accreditation be lost.

Pass rates for the NAVLE are an important aspect of accreditation and the only one of eleven standards in which the RVC is currently deficient."

that does not seem to be the case here.
This does not apply to schools in the UK. If they lose their accreditation you cannot sit for the US NAVLE and will have to go to RVC for four years and then apply through an alternative pathway as if you were a foreign born student. This will add multiple years to your Journey and you can forget about internships and surgical unless you are planning on spending most of your adult life in school

Yea that’s right. If an American school lost accreditation, the school is still required to finish out current students education and they can sit the NAVLE, but new incoming classes can’t or they aren’t allowed to take classes. It wouldn’t make sense to have other rules for European schools
Nope-- the rules are different even though it does not make a lot of sense. Once Accreditation is lost, you cannot practice in the US unless you apply just like a foreign resident.

Rvc has already published the potential consequences of losing accreditation on their website. Students who have not passed the navle will be required to proceed through ecfvg.

Also be aware that you will almost certainly not be able to transfer out of rvc to another vet school, or if you find a school they will want you to start over. I tried many times during my time at the school and the vast majority of schools wouldn't even entertain the idea because the curriculum was too different.
You are right on the money here.

It means you will have to get your degree then apply through the PACE or ECVFG process just like any other foreign educated person. You will not be allowed to sit for the NAVLE and cannot be licensed in the US or CA. The alternative pathway choices put at least two more years on your process and in that time you will not be able to get an internship in the US or proceed in the US for residency or surgical. It will be just as if you were born in another country

I declined my previously accepted offer to the 5 year program. So a spot will most likely open for someone on that waitlist.

I’m so torn. I just got off the waitlist for the 5 yr program, it is my dream to go to RVC but with accreditation issues I don’t know what to do.

Your loans don't wait for you to find a job to need to be paid off. You want to do an EXTRA year of vet school at a program that may very well not be able to get you a north American veterinary license just because it's rvc? If you aren't allowed to sit the navle, how do you start paying the annual interest on your 400k+ loan? You'd have to pay tens of thousands more dollars just to go through the additional licensing hoops, and you'd be delaying your first job for a period of time while you spend that extra money. I can't make it make sense in my head but maybe you come from a background where money is not an issue.

Maybe the school is that important, or maybe living arrangements/connections in London would make it more affordable than other schools, or maybe this is the only school they have been accepted to and not accepting means waiting another whole year of applications and maybe not getting in again, or maybe we have no idea about motivations for people. Its easy to understand being torn for these difficult life decisions.

How about we use kindness and instead of judgement.

What I said was not judgemental. Passing judgement would be saying "you're stupid for wanting to go to rvc". What I did was frame the decision for the person in a holistic way. That is being kind when the decision is fairly one sided.

Encouraging someone who wants to work in the US to go to a school that may not be able to get them licensed, to then drown in debt with no way to pay their way out, is not a kindness. Just because you don't like to hear it doesn't make it unkind or judgemental.

or maybe they are not from the US and there are different entry rules...but you've made your point.

Please take into consideration how you choose to phrase things. This is not the correct way to formulate a response or offer any sort of advice to someone clearly struggling with a major decision.

Does anyone know when we should expect to hear about NAVLE results? They were released this weekend but idk how long it takes for schools to post their class results

I think it can take weeks for schools to post this information. Personally, if it was me, I would not go to RVC because of the accreditation issue. Especially a 5 year program with an extra year of debt. If you do choose RVC, I think you should be VERYYYY careful about finances (more so than any other school) as you will have an extra year of loans and possible alternative pathways for licensing in the US. If coming back to the US is your goal, I think choosing a different school is in YOUR best interest. Good luck!

Edit; realizing you aren’t the student asking for help deciding on the 5 year program, apologies!! I will leave my response up just in case others wanna see 🙂

There’s no hurt in waiting to see their NAVLE results for this year first imo, but yeah I already am aware of that lolz 🙃

I totally agree! I’m more permanently jaded personally with how the school reacted/ the responses to the situation at hand. Now that we know if accreditation is terminated that students aren’t guaranteed to be able to sit for the NAVLE, I personally wouldn’t go abroad. Better scores 1 year doesn’t change the trajectory of the program BUT I understand the draw to RVC as a school, as it does previously have a great reputation. I just (personally!) wouldn’t want to put my ability to easily come back and practice in the US in jeopardy. I understand it being an incredibly hard decision though

Are any US students still accepting their seats at RVC? Im aware of the accrediting issue (clearly lol) so im very very hesitent but i just got an offer for the 5 yr program starting in September and I fell in love with the program but its so hard to give up an acceptance at a school still in good standing w the AVMA (SGU)

plz be nice while responding as i’m fully aware of the probation/highly probable loss of accreditation and still am leaning towards SGU but not completely ruling out RVC till i talk to ppl in a similar situation tysm 🙂

My worry is that last years rates weren’t like 75-79% falling short of the 80- they were 60% which is a large jump to make in 1 year. They have to jump 20% in one graduating class which is A LOT! I feel for RVC students who are the ones this has to fall on- it’s probably extremely stressful on top of an already stressful exam. Hoping the best for everyone 💘

For those of you still debating on going, the results look promising!! I’ve decided on a different program myself but am super excited that some of you will finally have peace after all. That 79.2 with a 0.85 interval is a straight-up miracle. This email was sent to current 3rd year students:

For those still waiting and looking for updates, a 4-year program applicant who just got an offer for the 5-year program this morning. I have since declined my spot.

Has anyone on the hold list received an update since the June 10th deadline passed a little while ago?
