Maybe a dumb question but are deposits due ON or BY April 15th? Like can we still accept our offer tomorrow? I’m going to commit but want to wait till the last moment so I can take full advantage of the 2 week rescission window in case I get off a waitlist

But what happens if you hear back from a waitlist after 2 weeks and want to decline RVC? I am in the same boat.

I’m not sure entirely sure on this, but the deposit is not due until July. So if you revoke your offer before then I don’t believe they can force you to pay it. If you revoke your offer after you pay, then you lose it.

Personally, I am not worried about losing the deposit but I know this is a big factor for some applicants.

Only waitlist for 4 year no acceptance for 5 yr! I got the email at 7:20 AM EST - it basically just asked if I am on the hold list and "
we expect to be able to make some decisions regarding the hold list in the next week or so and therefore want to ensure our records are up to date. Therefore, now that the VMCAS decision deadline has passed, can we ask if you would update us as to whether you wish to remain on our hold list, or if you have accepted an offer at another school or no longer wish to be considered by the RVC. We can then update our records and be in a position to make an offer to those who want one as quickly as possible should a space become available. The deadline for your response is 23rd April 2025. If we do not hear from you by this time we will assume you no longer want to be considered for a place at the RVC." thats so strange it didnt get sent to you perhaps check your spam or see if it comes tomorrow?

I received the email asking me to accept or deny the waitlist position on Tuesday, and I just declined my spot as I have accepted my seat at another university. I hope this brings good news to someone!

and on another note - how many students from the US accepted their seat and plan on going with them being on probational accreditation with the AVMA? I have chosen to remain on the waitlist but it is intimidating to know that we wont know the updated status of the accreditation here until almost being done with Y1

I applied for the 4-year program and was placed on the waitlist for both the 4 and 5-year programs. I received an email pulling me off the waitlist for the 5-year program around 2 pm EST while still remaining on the 4-year waitlist. I accepted my offer! Good luck to all those still waiting!

They gave me until today to respond since they didn’t email me until Tuesday, so hopefully today was the last day to respond for everyone so they can get working on moving the waitlist! Best of luck, hopefully they get working on it quickly!!

Does anyone know what the email this morning meant with RVC saying they would facilitate students qualifying for the NAVLE if they lose their accreditation and what the pathway would look like if I am to get off the waitlist?
If anyone didnt get the email this is the bulk of it: "Current indications from the Council on Education (COE) indicate that, should an international school lose accreditation, graduates of that school who have yet to pass the NAVLE would be required to qualify for the NAVLE by alternative pathways until accreditation is regained. The RVC would facilitate this, if necessary. As a reminder, our RCVS (UK) and EAEVE (European) accreditations would be unaffected by the status of our AVMA accreditation."

I sure hope not - i hope they realize they are on the brink and add something to help NAVLE taking students. i applied there, loved the info session/interview and Im waitlisted and would LOVE to go there but its so hard to know if it would be a poor choice or not especially since we wont know till next April

Sounds like a smart move. Unless by some miracle the numbers go up the school is going to lose accreditation. What this means for existing and new students is that you cannot be licensed in the US or Canada. Some people think there is a lot of time left but there is not and it is a bit of a hail mary at this point. The issue is primarily the UK and EU students who take the exam unprepared just to see what happens if they ever decide to migrate to the US. It is a pretty well known issue on campus. For close to 100K a year for NA students you need to think wisely

The real issue is that the US and Canadian students have an additional 4 year science degree, most from the US so they are very familiar with the format of the NAVLE and study as if their life depended on it, which it does in some ways. The UL and EU students pay almost nothing to attend and take the exam without understanding the impact it has had on the other students when they don't pass. After all they still get to practice in their home country without a hiccup.

anybody interested in working in north america after attending this school should be carefully reading their statement about AVMA accreditation which is publicly available on the RVC website.

The RVC currently holds probationary status and is actively seeking to regain full accreditation which it must do by April 2026. that does not seem to be the case here.

This does not apply to schools in the UK. If they lose their accreditation you cannot sit for the US NAVLE and will have to go to RVC for four years and then apply through an alternative pathway as if you were a foreign born student. This will add multiple years to your Journey and you can forget about internships and surgical unless you are planning on spending most of your adult life in school

Yea that’s right. If an American school lost accreditation, the school is still required to finish out current students education and they can sit the NAVLE, but new incoming classes can’t or they aren’t allowed to take classes. It wouldn’t make sense to have other rules for European schools

Nope-- the rules are different even though it does not make a lot of sense. Once Accreditation is lost, you cannot practice in the US unless you apply just like a foreign resident.

Rvc has already published the potential consequences of losing accreditation on their website. Students who have not passed the navle will be required to proceed through ecfvg.

Also be aware that you will almost certainly not be able to transfer out of rvc to another vet school, or if you find a school they will want you to start over. I tried many times during my time at the school and the vast majority of schools wouldn't even entertain the idea because the curriculum was too different.

It means you will have to get your degree then apply through the PACE or ECVFG process just like any other foreign educated person. You will not be allowed to sit for the NAVLE and cannot be licensed in the US or CA. The alternative pathway choices put at least two more years on your process and in that time you will not be able to get an internship in the US or proceed in the US for residency or surgical. It will be just as if you were born in another country

You want to do an EXTRA year of vet school at a program that may very well not be able to get you a north American veterinary license just because it's rvc? If you aren't allowed to sit the navle, how do you start paying the annual interest on your 400k+ loan? You'd have to pay tens of thousands more dollars just to go through the additional licensing hoops, and you'd be delaying your first job for a period of time while you spend that extra money. I can't make it make sense in my head but maybe you come from a background where money is not an issue.

Please take into consideration how you choose to phrase things. This is not the correct way to formulate a response or offer any sort of advice to someone clearly struggling with a major decision.
