Hi everyone! can't believe it's finally our turn to be applying this year, hope you have had a chance to have a look at the VMCAS app so far.

Just one I need to clarify for anyone applying to RVC this year...i wish i had found out sooner so I could clear up my summer schedule but eh, things happen.

RVC requires the general GRE this year.
note it wasn't required by last year's applicant's. I don't actually mind having to take the GRE, I just wish they had posted it online sooner. (it was edited in may or something) There was an entire section on the website that they had forgotten to change (it still said RVC applicants don't need to sit the GRE) as of yesterday night, so I had to email them at 3am last night just to clarify, and yes 😱😱 unfortunately they need it this year. ..
I'm wondering if there is a possibility that they will cancel this requirement due to the confusion? maybe?

Good Luck everyone!

That's weird. They required it the year I applied. I thought it was always a requirement...?

RVC would be #2 on my list (I actually wouldn't mind moving across the pond), but my Pittie isn't welcome in the UK 😡 so I'd never even apply. Hope all who want to attend get in and get to go...cheers!

I don't think they needed it in the past two years if I'm correct.. I wonder if that means there was an excess of applicants or if there weren't enough? for them to require the GRE. weird.. anyway, hey lei do you know about the taking of prereq courses ? I've got a bit of a dilemma here... I can either do the GRE several times (thus obtaining a better score) or do it just once and fit in my other required 4 credits of ochem.
I'm not sure whether they will look down on my application and reject me because im missing 4 credits of ochem.. Do you know if RVC is okay with students taking prereqs durin the actual application process and submitting their grades as "in progress"?ie Sept-April

and thanks ChittyBang! RVC is #1 on my list and always has been 😛

RVC has confirmed that they have received applications and will take ~4 weeks to process them..so early this year!! 🙂 :OOO *waiting game*

Wow, that's a pretty fast turn around, good to know. Aghhh my VMCAS is still being verified so they won't have that yet, sigh. But ahhh good luck! So nervous, RVC is my first choice since I'm already living in London, counting down the seconds to hearing back about it!

I got the email as well. I can't wait to hear back!

They are my number two school right now, but there is still time to persuade me from attending my IS 😉

just an update.. i'm not sure about their scheduling cause they initially said they would send out interview invites late oct- early nov.
however, i just called a few days ago and we can expect to hear a response late nov- early dec. so i assume early dec =[ the wait is killing me!

Well it's definitely late november.. So fingers crossed we start hearing soon. On the plus side, at least they don't have a Thanksgiving holiday so they'll still be doing admissions stuff this week!

Hi all,

I just got a conditional offer from RVC in my email without having to interview - it's obviously the first real offer I've gotten and I'm absolutely ecstatic. I will definitely be waiting on US schools but I was wondering if anyone else got an offer this week and is going to RVC's "Taster Day" in the US for offered applicants. I will probably be going to the one in NYC.

Let me know and I would love to see any of you there!

Wow, congrats! That's so exciting! I frantically checked my email after seeing this, and... nothing. So I'm holding out hope for a regular interview invite. :xf: When is the "Taster Day" date in NYC?

And would you mind posting your stats? Thanks!

Hey Everyone!

Bluesails- I was invited as well! I'll be going to the Taster Day in NYC too! I just got the email for it yesterday. I can't believe it!

I am attending the taster day in NYC as well!! SO SO excited!!!

congrats everyone! 🙂 im with everyone else on the anxious waiting for an interview invite hahha. though an invitation without having to interview was WAY out of the ballpark for me 🙁

Anybody get any news on interviews? One of my friends who is an EU candidate that applied through UCAS got his interview invite last Friday. Just getting nervous since it seems like acceptances/interviews were all sent on the same day last year (Dec 5th).

Also - for those of you who did get acceptances so far, was it for the 4 year or the 5 year program? Congrats again btw!

I got an interview and it was for the 5 year. I didn't even know they admitted without interviews. Congratulations!

My email didn't specify either the 4 or 5 year program... so I'm not sure?

I was also admitted direct admission. It did not specify the 4 or 5 year program. I emailed back about attending the Taster Day in New York, but never got a confirmation. Did anyone else get confirmation after responding to the email? I am worried that my email went into cyberspace.

No, I didn't! I was worried about that too, so yesterday I emailed the actual international email (international@rvc. Whatever it is...) confirming that my reply and everything went through- I haven't heard back anything from this yet, but I just did it last night

They can be rather slow in responses sometimes, at least they were when I was asking questions during working on my app, guessing its much worse now that they're probably being flooded with emails... Arghhh going mad over the wait, I really hope my app is still up for an interview invite 🙁

right back at you Cynthia... this is just about the most painful waiting i've ever done :scared:.. .. the last time i have been so frustrated with the wait.. was for the last harry potter movie to come out :=|:-):

I got a response back to my email confirming my spot! Idk if they're not emailing back individual confirmations, but I agree- they must be getting swamped!

I really want to email them and ask if there are any updates.. but at the same time, I don't want them to think I'm harrassing them, and end up with them sending me a rejection email lol.

I haven't gotten confirmation back yet either (after confirming my spot) and I emailed them again today just in case, since the deadline they gave us was the 8th. Whatever happens, my emails made it into their inbox.

Ooh gotcha, maybe a second set of invites will go out after the 8th then. Fingers crossed!

well one thing's for sure, :xf:there's still tomorrow cause it's the official "last day" of the week they said they were going to send notifications on ..... if so wow competition is awfully fierce this year.
one thing though, the nice lady who is the head of admissions (Margaret Kilyon) has recently retired less than a month ago (she's been doing it for almost 10 years now i think?), so I guess that might be a reason for the inconsistency..

Starting to go crazy! 😱 Really hoping they'll get the emails out at some point today!

Who said today was the last day for invites? Now I'm nervous!

😱 Omg you're right! It says "International applicants who applied through UCAS should hear from us within the next week. International applicants who applied through VMCAS will hear from us from today and through next week." That was posted on Nov. 29, so today is technically the last day of "next week".

What. The. Heck.

No idea. I'm sure we could analyze it a million different ways, but honestly there's no point in torturing ourselves. Until I receive a rejection email, I'm going to hold out hope!

Not sure if it helps at all, but RVC is always pretty slow at these kinds of things! The year I applied I think I got my acceptance like a full month after some other people had theirs. I know the wait is painful, but don't give up hope yet.

Still have never gotten any confirmation that they received my e-mails and nothing about the details of the Taster Day in New York. What about everyone else? Have you gotten anything firm? Just keeping fingers crossed that all is well.

First time poster- I will be at the Taster Day in NYC (hopefully)

Anyone else a little nervous about the "conditions" of the conditional offer? The only ones mentioned in the email were "passing your degree" and attending the Taster Day- I am currently enrolled in Biochem and looking at a B/B- assuming I do well on the final. Do you think they would rescind an offer if I were to get a C? I want to be excited but I am so terrified something is going to go wrong 🙁

Has anyone who was still waiting heard anything new? EU candidate interviews are next week, so guessing they're busy prepping for that, but I still can't help checking my email constantly haha.

Nope, nothing :/

nothing and the 3 month wait has been slowly killing me on the inside... hate to sound impatient but its really stressful ...

Pretty sure I saw some EU candidate interviews going on at Hawkshead this morning.. thought they weren't starting next till next week, so guess they're busy with that

Still so impatient though. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually have been dreading weekends now, since it means there's little chance of getting application updates!

I would assume if they said 'passing your degree', it just means you need to finish your bachelors successfully... which a C probably wouldn't hinder? But obviously better grades are always preferable. If you're super concerned, you could always email them directly and ask to further clarify the conditions of your offer in regards to grades you need to achieve.

Also - welcome to the forum! And congrats on your acceptance, you lucky duck 🙂

So I caved and finally emailed asking if there were any updates, and got a response saying that they're hoping to get all the responses out to this years cohort by Christmas break... Which is essentially within the next week and a half, ahh!

I'm attending the Taster Day in NYC as well! Glad to hear some of you haven't gotten a confirmation either.. I was starting to get a little nervous. I'm not sure if I should email them to confirm?? Also, does anyone know when we find out if we are accepted into the 4 or 5 year degree? Or previous Taster Day attendees, how long does it usually go!? Trying to figure out if I can get back to Boston and work the next day 👍

So I was just chatting with one of my EU candidate friends who's here for an interview in Camden today, he was told by someone they still had several interview invites to send out for interviews being done after Christmas, so there is still hope 🙂 Not too sure what the breakdown between EU/non-EU is, but I did have one Canadian friend who got notified of her interview invite in January last year, so even more reasons to be hopeful. 👍

Thank you so much for the encouragement Cyndia, it seems awfully weird though as none of my classmates have gotten an invite from RVC yet.
I really do hope that RVC has perhaps forgotten many more interview invites, or maybe they send them out as people reject them.

My theory is that RVC offers more interviews to people down the list as time goes on
(this is based on the assumption that people with 4.0 GPA's tend to accept their IS school as opposed to RVC)

Anyway I'm definitely in the same boat as you. so hang in there with me!! I am very thankful I've got a GEP invite to Edinburgh, but RVC has been my dream school since the beginning of undergrad as well so I'm just praying for that email everyday <3
