Ok plot twist I got accepted for January 2026!

I got into it this past summer for FA 2024 and then I would have started Jan 2025. I ultimately declined but they have about a class of 80-100 students and you'll be taking undergrad classes while on the island to prove you can handle the cirriculum and then you will matriculate into the next DVM class (if you pass FTV). You cannot use federal loans for the FTV program, you also need to pass a PVSCE exam in order to progress into the DVM class.

Here is more information: Foundation to Veterinary Program (FTV) Student Manual | St. George's University
thank you for the info!

I JUST got an acceptance. But it's an acceptance into their FTV program to then get into their Jan 2026 vet school...is anyone else also in that program?
Same!!! Glad the wait is over!!! And it’s not a no!
Congratulations

Do you have to live in a dorm at SGU your first year?? I saw somewhere that you did but also heard that you don’t. I’m panicking a little cause I fully planned on getting my own housing so I can bring my cat.

If you bring a pet you can get your own housing. That's what I plan on doing

Okay that’s what I thought I just got nervous when I saw somewhere that dorms are required first year. Is having an animal what makes you exempt or is it not really required?

I would email admissions if your worried about it and ask what the housing options are maybe

I think it is one of the things that can make you exempt, but yes it is generally required

They will allow you to live off-campus if you have a pet, spouse, or if you get permission from admissions (probably health reasons ors etc)

does anyone have any info regarding if SGU is on track to continue to be AVMA accredited this year? Just wondering since I saw this year they are due for another site visit to be reaccredited, thanks!

I think they are getting reevaluated in the spring. I bet if you email them and ask about it they will tell you when it’s happening

Has anyone accepted for August 2025 received any info on tuition/financial aid yet?

Just declined my seat as I got into other schools higher on my list! Good luck everyone!

Just found out I can’t even reapply now that my prerequisites are done for January term because some of my labs were online. I swear I didn’t notice that before.

Is there a FB group or anything for accepted applicants?

I hadn’t heard about new curriculum? Is it going to be anything like Ross weekly exams?

I have a good friend that is currently doing the new curriculum at SGU. We had over a 2 hour conversation about the school and island. She really enjoys the new curriculum and had nothing but good things to say. She has felt well prepared for all of her exams so far! After every exam they even ask the students to fill out a survey. It seems like they really do try to get students feedback and make it the best learning experience possible. You have 3 units Professional Skills, Clinical Skills, and Systems. The systems is then broken in to 3 modules. For first term those modules are
1-Vet Foundations
2- Infections/Immunity
3- cardio/respiratory
For systems you have a module exam once a month. So for example Vet Foundations would be February, Infections/Immunity would be March and then Cardio/Respiratory would be April. You have a cumulative final in May.
You Only have 3 finals for the term-Clinical Skills (OSCE), Professional Skills, and then your cumulative systems final.

just declined my seat for fall, hope someone else gets some good news!

hi! just saw you posted this, I took online lab classes and was still accepted so I wouldn't count yourself out yet!

If you do the veterinary foundations courses do they provide you with housing or do I need to find an apartment? I’ve tried contacting the school to ask but no one has gotten back to me.

Does anyone know how leasing/renting a car in Grenada is? How expensive it is and if its worth it?

Anyone who was accepted for Jan 2026 and waitlisted for August get pulled off the waitlist yet?

From what I’ve seen, it’s $300-$400 per month. I think you have to get a Grenadian license and I believe the rental typically includes insurance. Most say that it’s better to buy because you typically get what you paid back. They drive on the left so may take some adjustments. I personally do not not feel comfortable. But that may change.

Im a bit confused right now because im looking at the vetschoolbound cost of attendance and (i didnt apply to ross so it doesnt rlly apply to me but im curious) why the cost of living at ross is 32k a year versus cost of living at SGU/in Grenada is 132k? Should I really expect my COL in Grenada to come to 132k over the 3 yrs in the island is everything THAT much more expensive?
