Sullivan University Anyone?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Wes,

Thanks for posting your interview feedback - it was very helpful! I know those of us still facing interviews would appreciate others like you to do the same. There are only 4 feedback posts for Sullivan and yours is the only one that really provided any details. I plan to post mine after my interview on 10/29!

You're very welcome. Like I said, just very basic questions were asked to get to know you.

I just found out about Sullivan University through a friend so I am in the process of completing my application. I practically have everything done and ready to be submitted by Monday. It seems like I'm already late in the application process since many of you have been receiving interview invitations. About how many slots are still open at Sullivan?

Sullivan has a rolling admissions policy. They will take about 95 students this year, and I am unsure as to how many from last year that were waitlisted were awarded spots, it any.

So not really sure how many slots are left.

So you guys suggest that we send them 2 passport photos even though they didn't specify in the application requirements?

Also, what does it mean by "updated" immunizations? Does that mean that the shots I got when I was a baby is not valid to submit and I must get my polio, hepatitis, tetanus, and MMR again?

Some shots do not give good protection after a certain number of years. I got my records from my university, and the nurse told me to update a few shots while other shots are still good. :eek

Well I understand that some shots like the Tetanus is only good after 10 years or so, but it makes no sense to me to get the other shots again if my body is already immune or have made antibodies for them.

Pharmalicious,

I submitted my immunizations which were from when I was a child and the only shot it had from recent years was the one you need for college (Meningococcal Meningitis). I guess it was fine because I got an interview. If they require any additional if and when I get accepted then I'll deal with it then. Hope this helps!

when did you guys hear from the admissions about your interview? a week after you have submitted your application?

They told me that I just have to get my Hep B....but it didn't stop them from giving me an interview. I hate shots that you have to get in series. I always get to number 2 and forget....🙄

I heard about my interview a week after ALL my materials were in.

I am in my process of getting the Hep B as well. First two shots are down....then you have to wait 6 months.....I guess I'll have a string tied on my finger for 1/2 the year. 😎

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks to those of you who have recently provided interview feedback for Sullivan and I have a question. Two of the reviews mention a clinical question - can someone who has interviewed please expand on that or give an example? Thanks!

Good luck to those of you who are interviewing this week!😀

Ok quick question: So I know that men's dress has been brought up, but what about for us women? I was talking to a friend who is going to medical school, and she said to wear a dress skirt, because there may be more 'conservative' people interviewing you. Now, I don't know about anyone else, but I HATE wearing suit skirts. They aren't comfortable.

Any suggestions?

I'd go with a lady's suit. I had two women interviewing me and neither were in skirts. Also, when my wife interviews she is always in a suit, not a skirt.

I didn't have to redo every shot, only the ones that no longer provide good protection (maybe I'll be ok w/o any update, but i wouldn't risk) , and wherever you are taking your records from, they should let you know. If you are gonna be in healthcare environment, you are gonna get the shots updated sooner or later.

Question to everybody accepted. Did they send out an email saying congrats and the official acceptance letter is in the mail or just the formal letter that arrived in 1-2 weeks?

The suspense is killing me.

Man, after reading through some SUCOP interview feedbacks, I feel pretty lucky about my interview - it was more like a quick talk; no ethical questions, no tell me about yourself, no scenarios, just 1 interviewer instead of 2 like most have. But then, I am afraid that my feedback there can be misleading to others since it's not a typical representation of a SUCOP interview. What do you guys suggest? Remove it or just leave it there.

I don't get an official acceptance letter yet 🙁. It is a promise of acceptance note w/ some conditions I have to fulfill, and it was through email. I think so far most officially accepted ones receive the formal letter in 1-2 weeks like you said. When was your interview?

10/2 @ 11:30...Dr. Faccione said it would be about a week...was just hoping for sooner I guess.

i'm from california and i received a letter in the mail on wednesday the week after (3 business days).

Wes, let us know if you get an official letter.

Without a doubt. Even if I get rejected I'll let you guys know. I like the camaraderie on this board and will do my part to help us all suceed...even if I am the one that stumbles.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will be hawking my mail box for the next two weeks or so.

through email? you better check with the school because all the seats are filling up! I don't know if they could reserve a seat for you because it is not fair for other students who have everything completed. Again, you are not officially accepted if you didn't sign the agreement portion on the offical letter. I don't know how this will work. It is best to check with the school.

Do you know how many seats are left?

around 87-90 that is what the director said.....I think December will be the last month for interviews....we are 2/4 done.. a lot of students already got their seats. December people should hurry or else they have to be on the waiting list.

Are they extending offers to everyone that interviews?

nope.....first come first serve rule.......for example, the people who will interview near December will have a tough time because they need to have a competitive status to get accepted. I am lucky because I interviewed early. I am pretty sure they will interview at least 100 or more students. However, the class size is limited so some students have to be rejected. Don't worry you will make it!

For a moment, I went panic, and then I re-read the email and it does say that once SUCOP receives the transcript of course-work completion, SUCOP will send out the official letter. I know it's not very fair whether we like it or not, and that's life - exceptions are not for us students to make. I take whatever SUCOP says as is.

I am sure you will be fine.

I think you got in. There are plenty of other schools accept students although they have not finished their prerequisites completed at the time they applied to a pharmacy school. It's just a different form of acceptance as you said thru email. Congrats! 😍

So how long did it take you all to hear back about your application, I sent mine Sept 29th? I was just curious and I think all my stuff is there but I want to be sure. Who should I call and talk to, I called Paige and they said she had jury duty. Need some advice….

3.7 GPA
3 year work experience in pharmacy and other health field
over 200 hours extra curricular.
Bachelors in Biology
Kentucky resident

Just hope that I am not to late....

Homey86,

I sent my application on 8/31/09 and on 9/16/09 I received an email from Paige requesting I send in two passport size photos. I sent them the same day and on 9/22/09 I received an interview invite.

Thanks Gump... I was just wondering I have sent in my photos already, immunization, physical and all I was just concerned on how many seats are filled. Did you have you interview yet. I hope to hear back from them, me living in Kentucky would like to go there. So I guess I am ok on time since I sent it in over a week ago and I will hopefully get an interview....

Thanks

Your stats looks great there homey. G'luck, and I think you will be fine especially you are right in Louisville.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted. i dont have a n interview until november. however, i noticed some people are getting interviewes on thursdays now. has anyone had a thursday interview yet and got accepted? this seems to be wrong if they are accepted based on rolling admissions when people who have interviews in december submitted their applications first. any thoughts or insights?

Mine's tomorrow. I'll let you guys know how it goes....... :scared:

Good luck tomorrow. Try to relax, everything will go just fine.

I still haven't received a letter from them one way or the other yet....I am very anxious to receive that letter good or bad.

Thank you all for the input and advice. This website has been very helpful, besides Paige who else is someone good to talk to about applications. I guess i am nervous and I will give them two weeks and may try and call again. I sent a e-mail a few days ago and no reply, but I also don't want to aggervate them becuase I know they are busy. How many seats you all think are still open.

Leigt Pharmacist posted not to long ago that 1/2 the seats are already filled.

I'd just get on the phone and call the school, explain the situation and see what happens. Talk to someone in the admissions office.

hahaha hey guys I just got invited to dental and pa schools for an interview! what should I do guys? go for it or the hell with it?

If you don't mind spending the cash and wanted to have some fun you could really give them a mind blowing interview. Tell them you have already been accepted into pharmacy school and are leaning that way. When it is your time for questions turn the tables on them and ask them questions such as: Why dental? Why your school? What makes your school stick our amongst all the other dental/pharmacy programs? What qualities do you have as a professor that will help prepare me for boards? 😀

Trust me, if I were interviewing in more than one program and was already accepted these would be my questions.

hahahaha i don't know because I applied to four different programs such as medical, dental, pa and pharmacy. The total application cost is around $3,000. I was crazy because I want to make sure that I will get into one school or so. Now i am in debt, but it is worth it.

Could be the opportunity of the lifetime! The destination is just the end result, what makes the story worthwhile is how you get there.

Imagine how fun that story would be to tell people.

yep! i could use this as an example for other students! a 3K lesson...However, i think other students would do the same thing as I did because they want to do everything to get into one school. Professional school is a cruel battle man!

since you spent that much why not a little more. Later on, you can finalize your decision and go for the path that you like

I think I shuld give them two weeks until my application arrived before I call and ask them anything about it. I left a email with someone in admissions and no reply. So maybe I am being to anxious, I would like to attend this school bad.

Legit Pharmacist - When you talked to Dr. Tran about when the admissions committee was going to discuss applicants after the interview, did you get the impression that SUCOP meets every Friday or every other Friday to determine who to accept into the program?

I am curious because you received your letter 6 days after interviewing and another student received theirs the next day. Of course, that could be based on geography.

for those that have interview so far... if you could say.. who was your interviewer or who is conducting the interviews.
also while you were there... was there other students waiting to interview before or after you. as in did you see anyone else going in or out of the interview?
whatever information would be appreciated... thanks 🙂

You shoud get your letter this week. I think they make a decision right after your interview. You are being giving points for each question you answer. I saw the interviewers calculated the total points after the interview. My letter was written four days after my interview. It took two days to get to my house.

hahahaa no can't afford it. I will do pharmacy and be done in 3 yrs. No more interviews for me, I already proved myself that I can do it..by the way the DAT was easier than the PCAT. I think it is easier to get into dental school than pharm.
