Sullivan University Anyone?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
for those that just interviewed... did you guys get a tour of the school as well? or was it just the interview?
I also interviewed on Oct. 8 (yesterday) and I had lik 4-5 questions with Dr. Facione alone. but we talked for at least 20 mins. i didnt get a tour though.. i just wanna know if they gave tours to some and not others and if that means anything in regards to being accepted or what??

LOL, that would be something, wouldn't it? No, I don't think the interview process is quite as cryptic as that. 🤣

Dr Facione gave me a tour before my interview, but only because they were running a little late. Honestly, my interview was scheduled at 11 am, I got there at 10:30 am, but didn't get into the interview until around 11:30 am. 😀

Hey Wes....do you know any good place to shop for dress clothes? I tried Express, Gap, American Eagle, Banana Republic, Macy, Nordstrom, Sears, and Aeropostle. They are too expensive! I guess I have to try JC Penny and Ross. I can't believe this school has a dress code! I am used to casual clothes  Man getting ready for pharm school is heck of a work. I have a list that I needed to do.

1. buy iphone to load in drugs application
2. buy new laptop with touch screen
3. buy dress clothes
4. buy new dress shoes
5. rent apartment
6. physical exams
7. complete FAFSA
8. stock up some beers
9. book my flights
10. quit my job:xf:

damn..wish I knew about this school awhile ago..I'm getting ready to apply monday..taking the pcat saturday...do you people think its too late to apply to Sullivan?

Did you retake your Physics and Statistic? 😉

Trust me man, I was going to buy scrubs. I wear dress clothes every day to work now....sucks.

You can get some pretty decent deals at Macy's and JC Penny. I wear fitted dress shirts and Stafford (JC Penny) makes some pretty good ones. During the holidays last year I picked up three $40+ dollar dress shirts for like $9 each with a coupon. I love those shirts. If you sign up for emails from Macy's or JC Penny they are always sending out coupons. Kohl's is another place you can try and they are inexpensive with decent brands. I have just never been able to get a good fit from anything there.

Joseph A. Banks is another place here in town that puts clothes on sale quite often and Men's Wearhouse has different brands based on your budget. I think you can probably get the best deals from JC Penny and Macy's.

Did you already get your Hep B shots going? They are a series of three shots that go like this. 1st shot, 2nd shot (1 month later), 3rd shot (6 months later). Mine will be completed on 2/26/2010.

I know I am going to need to get a new cell phone (probably iphone), I've never owned a laptop so that will be a nice adjustment to make. My bday is in november so I will probably use that and xmas for dress clothes.

You stock up on beer, I have the bourbon. As they say, "when in Rome..."

hey wes did u get an acceptance letter already??

Not yet. Apparently the admin assistant was on jury duty and is now 2 weeks behind. So people who applied didn't get processed through and nobody was notified by the ADCOM if they got accepted or not.

Reading these forums makes me so anxious and antsy! Very helpful feedback though. I'm getting ready to send out my application to SUCOP! Wish me goodluck!

Yeah I got my three shots for Hep B in 1998. I don't know if they want recent shots. The school hasnt sent me any information yet. I was asked to do the background check and paid $35. I don't know if i should send in my physical exam because the school hasn't ask for it yet. I called Paige and she hasn't been in the office. She will be punished with the stack of applications when she gets back. I can't believe there are only two people working on the admission process.

You should try but at this point there are too many people ahead of you. Oh well there is always next year!:xf:

Haha, no I got flat out rejected. Wasn't even invited for the supplemental =) Don't know what they are really looking for.

No, UCSF requires that you submit the Supplemental at the same time as the PharmCAS. They review it together.

California Northstate: requires a B.S to apply! I am still waiting for the supp application. I am pissed off at this school and stupid pharmcas.😡 Hey Harding university is a good choice! their average PCAT score is around 60%. I sent in my supp and still waiting! the waiting is killing me............ oh well Sullivan it is!

Is Sullivan your school of choice or just your school of choice right now because they accepted you?

lol. Trust me, the wait is killing me too! I haven't even heard from California Northstate since I submitted PharmCAS at the end of July. They haven't even sent me a letter to confirm that they have received my application.

Legit - Kohl's has dress shirts on sale this week for 40% off and surprisingly they even had some in my size today (fitted 17 and 1/2 inch neck and 36/37 sleeves).

I think I paid $21.60 + tax for each shirt.

thanks i think if you apply for the credit card you get 15% off. I will go buy some this week. Did you buy pants as well? As for the laptop you can either wait for Thanksgiving sale or buy now at hp.com for $400.

Hey everyone who interviewed on 10/2,

I called Sullivan this morning, and talked with Paige. This is her first day back from jury duty. She told me that she is backed-up with work and applications to process. She also said hopefully we'll hear back sometime later this week, or next week. 🙂

just wanted to share what I found out, since I know everyone is ansie too.

Thanks for sharing the information. I don't think it is that difficult to write the letter, just simply changing the adress on the header since i am sure it is a standard letter.

But then you have to put together the packet and envelopes which might be a little more tedious.

Hey, Wes, you're in town. I'm sure you'll be one of the first ones to get your letter! Excited much? lol I hope mine comes soon...I'm near Indy, so it shouldn't take long.

I also forgot to mention that in my interview, I was asked if I was applying to other schools, and which ones they were. Just thought I'd share for those of you whose interviews are coming up!

I didn't pick up any pants or ties. Macy's usually has some ties that are pretty inexpensive and they are pretty good ones.

I am not sure we need to wear a tie.....i guess you could if you want to be professional and try to impress the girls . Hopefully, there are more girls this year:laugh:

I think they are taking around 100 students. If I recall, a couple people got waitlisted in the Class of 2012 that made it in. I want to say one of the guys was #24 on the waitlist.
I went for interview last year for the class of 2012 but i was put in an alternate list and since then i have been calling the Dean but all to no avail. my question is , how do I know if everybody in the waitlist status from #1 to # 23 have been accepted b/c if #24 has been accepted how do we know, ie if people like me and what my faith is, being in # 37 on the waitlist status.

I am unsure of that. I thought some guy at Sullivan earlier in this thread said he was waitlisted and was #24...and then he got in. So unsure how that would work.

I think his screename is cdhoward so you might try emailing him.

is that an attitude of a future pharmacist? shame on you. I like to laugh is that a problem? Is not like I am making fun of anyone. Dima, i think you have a hating problem because you are frustrated with the fact that you did not get accepted to any pharm schools. I suggest that you change your attitude or else you will never make it in!

There are always more women in pharmacy schools than men. Atleast that is from my understanding. With that being said, that means our class will be a sausage fest. 👎

if your wife finds out you will be having a spanking fest👎 how do you tie your ties? i like the Windsor style.

hahahaha sausage fest eh? yep but i don't know man you have a wife already no pies for you if your wife finds out you will be having a spanking fest ...

PS- SUCOP is a private university and is very serious about professionalism. The faculty do watch threads like these and, as a private university, they can dismiss you over things like behavior.

To confirm- yes, you have to wear a tie every single day. If you show up out of uniform they can kick you out of class and I think after three violations you can be kicked out of Sullivan. If anyone has any questions about Sullivan feel free to ask!

There's no way I would ever leave my wife or could date a woman with similar interests. My wife and I are opposities, Yin and Yang and that is how I like it.

I like the half windsor knot, the same thing though not as big a knot. Probably because my ties aren't super long.

I didn't violate anything. I have rights to comment and state what it is on my mind as long as I don't cross the line.

PS- You are over reacting.........

The second part of my post was directed at everyone, please don't take it personally. The faculty have chewed our class out several times over professionalism, and Dr. Facione has told me that he does check this thread and others from time to time.
In fact, professionalism is part of our grade in some classes (even in a class like biochemistry, its 5% of our grade). I just don't want to see anyone rejected or kicked out because they were joking around online and it was taken the wrong way.

Thanks for the heads up Criz. I am sure we all appreciate the reminder.

TJ MAXX has many designer ties for very cheap. It's where I get all my ties.

As for Dress shirts and pants, I find Express usually fits me the best and is cheap enough to be affordable. Their dress shirts are usually oin sale, too.

Express got nice and stylish dress shirts and pants. However, they are too expensive! $30-40 for a shirt same thing with pants. At this point, I have to wait for Thanksgiving sale.:xf:

I am having my interview this Dec 10th. This is the first time I have flown out of state by myself so very anxious. I did not book the flight ticket or hotel yet. I'm from CA. Any advices or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.:luck:

Fly into SDF (Louisville International Airport) and stay somewhere near that or off of Breckenridge Lane (Breckinridge Inn) if you can. They are all pretty close to Sullivan.

I live in Louisville, KY so if you have any more specific questions just ask.

I just wonder how many shots of Heptis. B and Polio and TDP I need to have.

Thanks a lot

Hep B is a 3 shot vaccine. You get 1, 2nd is 1 month later, and 3rd is 6 months after 2nd shot. So you know it will take atleast 7 months to get them all.

Polio and TDP you should have already had. Can you get a blood titer to see if you have immunity?

Thank you so much, Wes011. I am very curious about the area and weather as well. I wish it's not too cold and rainy over there. I heard that the state is known as the "Blue Grass" with lots of prairies, isn't it? I'm so excited. I can not wait until December.

Also, Wes011, do you know any affordable, safe hotel/inn/motel that is close to the campus that I can walk or take the taxi to the school on the interview day, besides Breckinridge Inn🙂? Thanks
