Sullivan University Anyone?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I had my interview at 3PM. Nope, they usually don't email out acceptances I believe - other cases were through mail. My case is not an official acceptance; it is more like a promise of acceptance on the condition that I do well in the Micro econ class that I will be taking in a month. The interviewer told me that the school sends out its decision in about 2-3 weeks; so whether you are in or not, you probably get something from the school in 2-3 weeks.

CONGRATS!!! thats great! my interview is on oct 2nd and cant wait for it to come already.. so how was the interview? any suggestions? were they basic questions?

Hey guys just got my acceptance letter in the mail. Good luck to all of you and see u next year.

Congratulations RQ13. Do you mind sharing ur statistics.

Hey guys just got my acceptance letter in the mail. Good luck to all of you and see u next year.

Congratulations. My interview is on 10/2...I hope I have you as a future classmate.

Thanks. I am just lucky. I am one of the lucky ones. Get the interview on 9/11 (Friday) and then email of acceptance today 9/14 (virtually over the weekend; definitely not because of GPA & PCAT).

My stats:
BS in Biochem w/ a minor in IT
GPA: 3.0 (w/ grade-forgiveness that Sullivan offers)
PCAT: 65% with 9% & 25% on English portions, I did decent on science & math
CVS Tech for 1 year

At least one strong recommendation letters; the pharmacist poured her heart out for the rec. letter. lol. I think I have an okay personal essay, maybe strong if looking into character development and growth - took me 7 years to complete the 4year program.
I am a big fan of community services; along w/ friends, found two organizations - one has non-profit status, the other is relatively new. I am lucky to have the interview w/ Dr. Facione; if you read his profile, you'd guess that he probably loves the idea of doing things for the community and the needed people.

Same here wes011. 10/2 is getting pretty near -> best of luck to you.

Just got my interview today, I was quite nervous at first but it got better. Just basic questions like ALTBoi posted; I think I got asked 3 times. But who knows other interviewers may ask you more, so be prepared as well. I am pretty shy & more like interview phobia, and I think I managed to pull up the simple and honest answers okay, so you people shouldn't have any problem at all as long as you provide an honest answer. I have faith in the school. Friendly staffs and dean. Go for it guys & good luck to all.

Thanks for sharing your experience, my interview is scheduled for next week. pls could you tell me what questions were asked at the interview.

Just basic questions. Why pharmacy was the hardest question in my case, but i wouldn't encourage anyone to expect the same interviewer and/or same questions from interviewer. You may be asked different questions (and/or) by different interviewers. It's better to be prepared. Look around SDN for pharmacy interview tips; here is a great place to start: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=198059.

Oh no I am accepting the invitation🙂

My stats
dual degree with 3.9 gpa and 1 year pharmacy tech experience

This is it...........I am heading to KY this Thursday........One Shot One Opportunity Of A Life Time........I will walk out of the interview with a smile on my face............

Congrats. Amymia!

Hey guys be prepared to answer at least 10 questions for your interview. I was asked more than 10 questions. The style is 2 on 1 and opened file. I will know the result in 7 days............

What is the difference between closed file and open file? Thanks!

I have an interview coming up. Would you mind sharing the type of questions that would be asked?

hi!! what is an open file??what type of questions were asked. Wow!! Good luck on your results..u will be ok🙂

to the above posters questioning the open vs closed file interview, an open file interview allows them to asks questions regarding your file vs a closed is just in reference to general questions as I understand it

Anyone know approximately how many students have been accepted? My interview is in Dec and I'm really worried I'll only be getting a chance at the waitlist by then 🙁

heyy guys! sorry if this is a stupid question but I just wanted to know what are you guys carrying with you into the interview room? And paper work in a file or just empty handed? this is my first interview so im just getting really nervous

Questions might be randomized. Be prepared to answer this question what challenges will the pharmacy face in the future? what makes you the best pharmacist? Negative aspects about being a pharmacist?

Did you guys take any kind of professional binder with you into the interview or walk in empty handed?

Got an interview!!!! October 8th!!! :soexcited:

Congrats, first of all.
I got asked for the interview way back in August, didn't call back right away, caused me to wait till Oct. 30th. (I spoke with Paige monday, August 31st to set up an appointment)

You seem you called them after me but you got the interview ahead of me. I spoke with Paige about this issue and she said all Friday interview invitations are all booked and now they're looking into different days to interview which your case doing it on Thursday.? I guess, in this case, someetimes it's all about timing and I'm getting more anxious. She said that's how it is and that's how it will be. ain't fair..

Nervous,

Congrats! Did they give you a choice of dates? I haven't been contacted (yet) but I'd be hard pressed to interview on a weekday as I would not want to miss my current classes. Two of my classes are labs and we aren't allowed to miss any!

Not cool. I'm in Dec and my friend that submitted hers later than me just got an Oct interview. Did she mention how this is going to play into the whole "rolling" admissions thing?

I've had my application in for a bit, but I didn't have the immunization records in right away. I wonder if that had something to do with it. Anyway, they did give me a choice of dates, which I'm very grateful for, since I have exams on all of the other dates she gave me to pick from. (My profs WILL NOT let me make up an exam, so Idk what I would have done if I didn't have a choice).

I have an interview on 12/18 🙁 At that time, I think I will be on the waitinglist :'(

I think they are taking around 100 students. If I recall, a couple people got waitlisted in the Class of 2012 that made it in. I want to say one of the guys was #24 on the waitlist.

Pinky,

Life isn't fair..it is what it is and you have to roll with the punches. Sometimes it is all in the timing which is often beyond our control. My parents taught me to not dwell on worrying about things "beyond my control" and instead concentrate on things that are. So, in your case that means to prepare like hell for your interview (no matter when it is) and see what happens. You appear to be pretty passionate (which his good) and I'm sure that will come through in your interview as long as it isn't tainted by your complaining about the system and things not being fair.

Forrest Gump,

Do I sound like complaining? lol
I was just telling people here that's how it's going to be. Because it seems little unusual.
geez, I can't even share my thoughts not being judged by any? I know what I'm doing. My parents taught me not to dwell on worrying about things "beyond my control" and share any info that is necessary with others. The school apologized for this so they also know it's a bit unusual them having to be this way. I already mentioned things are all in the timing in the previous note. I don't know what your "I don't know why you're freaking out, no big deal, why just wait" is for.
But thanks for your concern. 😎

Pinky,

Just for the record I was not judging you! I just didn't want to see you sabotage yourself. Your last post sounded a lot more positive and I think your optimistic attitude will serve you well in this process. Only meant to be helpful in my comments - really.🙂

I just got an interview invite for October! I don't know when I'm going yet but will post as soon as I confirm the date. What did you all wear (or are you planning to wear) at your interviews? All I have in the way of dress clothes is a black suit that I've used for weddings, funerals, etc. Is that too dressy? Please advise as I'm all thumbs when it comes to clothes. 😱 Thanks!

Also, wear did you stay and how long was your interview? This will be my first time traveling alone (no parents), renting a car, etc. I'm excited bit also a bit overwhelmed...

Definitely wear the suit and tie and black dress shoes. I'd probably opt for a shirt color other than white (gray, silver, or red) just to not look like i am going to a funeral.

I'll be wearing either a black or blue pinstriped suit.

From my understanding, interviews are about 30 minutes long.

Gump where are you from? I live in Louisville so if you need help with directions or anything PM me and I can help you get to where you need to go.

If you are flying yourself in a small plane access Bowman Field 🙂. If you are on a commercial jet you are coming in through Louisville International Airport (airport code SDF). Hotel wise you can find stuff anywhere, Breckenridge Lane is pretty close and if you stay by the airport you are good as well.

From the airport, you will want to get on I-264 East (Watterson Xway East) to Bardstown Road (maybe like 5 minutes on the Xway), turn left off the ramp (there is a light) and Sullivan University is on the right hand side of the road, but the College of Pharmacy is on the opposite side so you turn left at that first light. The College of Pharmacy sits behind the buildings right on the road.

Wes,

Thanks for the information and the offer for more - I may just take you up on it. I confirmed my interview for October 29. I think I'm going to stay at the Best Western Airport East as they are within a mile of Sullivan (walking distance to a runner like me) and offer free shuttle service to and from the airport so I can avoid a rental car!

Not a problem, feel free to email me as your interview gets closer I'll help you out anyway that I can.

Would you mind sharing your stats? 🙂

My interview is also October 8. I was wondering for those who were accepted, what is the wait time for a response? Also, does a bachelors degree in science make one very competitive to this program?

i thnk she already posted her stats in the older post. Like any professional school, you need stronger stats if you apply later in the cycle.

To answer the older posts about what to bring to interview, I really have no idea whats best. I want to leave a good impression so I brought a daily organizer with a list of questions I would like to ask about the school. I just want to show that I am well prepared for the interview. If the interview went well, you will get a response in a few weeks. good luck everyone.👍

BS degree does make a difference. At least at SUCOP. I heard more than 80% have a degree.

I heard that most of the last class did not even have a degree. However, why is it that some of the students applied earlier than I did but have a later date for an interview? Some students have interviews in december and I find that rather odd. Any body know why?

man I am dying for the acceptance letter.......it has been 6 days since my interview and i have not receive the letter............hopefully be the end of this week

Same here, I'm still waiting on the reply too. I had my interview on 9/18 also.😀

All the people from the first interview received their letters. It took them about 3 days. I don't know why this second interview is taking so long........

I have the same question too. What exactly mean "rolling admission"?
