Sullivan University Anyone?

Wes,

Are you saying we have to wear a shirt and tie and dress pants the whole time we're in pharmacy school? I don't mean to sound ignorant, but I guess I never really gave any thought to wardrobe. Just want to confirm this because if that is the case I have a whole new wardrobe to buy! Thx.

Yes sir that is what I am saying.

I am not sure on Friday's but from my understanding you will be on campus on Friday's regardless as you have classes to make up or group assingments or speakers at the COP.

I really wouldn't sweat it though. Some of my favorite dress shirts I was able to buy for like $6 bucks at JC Penny's. Stafford makes a pretty good fitted dress shirt, and you can catch some big sales during the holidays. I think I had an additional 20% off coupon so I bought 5 shirts that retailed for $40 for like 6-9 bucks each. I'll have to buy a couple more ties before classes start because I hate most of my ties but I can make do. I also have a weird dress shirt size....something like a 17 inch neck, 37 inch sleeves. Oh and even though I hate wearing a short sleeve dress shirt and a tie, it might be good to buy a couple because July and August here can be brutal....especially with the humidity.

Also, GAP.com has a huge sale going on so you might want to check it out..there you can also buy from Banana Republic and if you enter SAVE25 during checkout (through today only) you can save 25% on regularly priced items.

I'm from Cali. I have an interview on 12/18. How's weather during that time? which hotel should I stay? Thanks 🙂

Btw, Congrats!!!!!

I'd keep checking with weather.com, however, you can probably expect sun shine with a temperature in the high 30's or 40s.

As far as hotels, not sure where everybody else is staying because I am a local guy...but if you stay off of Breckenridge Lane (Breckenridge Inn?) that is fairly close to the expressway and only two exits from Bardstown Road (where Sullivan is located).

I am getting pumped. My interview is Friday 10/2 at 11:30.

Wes,

Thanks for the info on the dress code and the tips. I'm not as worried about buying clothes as wearing them. I'm an athletic type so I live in casual or workout clothes and because of that it will be a big "comfort" adjustment. What kind of pants do you have to wear? Are khakis ok? I guess we have to wear dress shoes too? Man, I know this is minor compared to getting into pharmacy school - I just need to start thinking in more grown up terms!😀

I would say Khakis are okay to wear, but might want to throw in some dress pants from time to time. I wear a combination of all khakis and dress slacks.

Trust me i feel your pain. When I get home everything comes off and I am in shorts and a t-shirt.

Hi everyone. I had my interview on 09/25 and got my acceptance letter yesterday. I'll see some of you in July.

Good luck to those who have interviews coming up!!!

Let me just share something with you. Be careful what you do because what you might not think is cheating might be considered compromised ethics by the school. A guy I know is at a College of Pharmacy and they just booted a 3rd year student for cheating. What did he/she do? He/She shared class information with the class below his/hers. Not worth it.

so F*cking true wes. Damn atleast be slick about it lol. I am sure you will find some hints about some of the teachers when you get to class. Definitely dont post stuff over the net about ways to get information about exams and test because you are only digging a hole for yourself. However, all of you are smart anyway and once we all get in, we will study our asses off and pass with flying colors!

WOAHHHHHH calm down man.....Cheating? this facebook is to discuss materials in class.......like asking questions? comment about the prof? Explain to those who didnt understand about something......etc........where the heck did you get the idea of cheating? We got accepted because we have proven that we are honest, true integrity, and commitment to this profession! If you think this facebook is about cheating then don't join!!!

I felt insulted by this comment! I got accepted because I worked my ass off and I am pretty sure everyone did! We all are committed to this profession. How could you say that we would cheat?

I completely agree.

I think they were making generalizations. I have the potential to do anything as harmful as others in jails, but I chose not to do it. The same goes w/ cheating, and with pharmacy being one of the most honest careers, I do put my trust on my classmates.

Congrats to those accepted so far! Speaking of cheating, did they ask you in the interview what you would do if you saw someone cheating or knew someone had cheated? I've heard this is a possible question at other pharmacy schools. If so, do you mind sharing what you said or what you would say (in general - I'm not trying to cheat!:meanie:). Though I'm an honest person, I've never been in the position to report someone else who is not...

Dude chill out. I wasnt the one who wanted to discuss class material "without" being monitored by the school administration. Here are some of the reasons why.

1) There is no damn class in session...so how do you plan on discussing material for a class that hasnt started yet?

2) Why are you trying to avoid school administration?

3) Why would you post that ass hat comment on the internet knowing that it would make you sound somewhat suspicious?

To be honest, I just think your really excited about getting into pharmacy school. You just weren't thinking when you posted that comment. We all know your smart and your not a cheater. But definitely, if some faculty member in sullivan read your previous comment, I am sure that facebook page would be investigated ASAP.

--However, I will say this about Legit Pharmacist. He has been helping ALL of us with our interviews that are coming up, and he is being fair by making sure all of us get a fair shake in our interview so I know he is honest. Maybe just a little overexcited lol.

true....that is the thing....it sounds like "compromised ethics" which is another form of cheating.

Dude I am not saying you intend to cheat at all. I am just saying be cognizant of certain things. All of us are intelligent people and wouldn't be in pharmacy school if we couldn't handle it. I am sorry if you took it that way, as that was not the intention of my post. I just wanted you to be aware..that is all. I apologize if I did not convey that. In fact, I'll buy the first round of beers when we go to the bars after our orientation. 🙂

The comment about the admin not being able to monitor the group is a "red flag" for school administration regardless of what is going on. I am sure school administration would feel the same way.

Dress - suit for sure (navy or black) and I plan on adding a colored shirt so I don't like like I am going to a funeral.

If you don't own a suit then you could go with shirt and tie with blazer and slacks. So you could go with the khaki colored pants, white shirt, navy blazer, etc...Wear dress shoes, be clean shaven, and comb your hair. Basically you want to convey you are a professional.

Questions - My interview is tomorrow @ 11:30 but I think you should be prepared to elaborate on anything in your file, any statements you made in your letter and some ethics based questions. Just be honest and be yourself.

I agree wes...and yes I am not here to start any **** I am also offering to purchases beers too lol

Awesome - you have round 2. When is your interview?

Good luck wes011.. I have mine tomm at 3:30 Cant wait!!

Good luck everyone who's interview is tomorrow.

Like Wes said, just be honest and be yourself. That's the best preparation you can have. Personally speaking, ethics questions are a no-brainer. If your an ethical person, you'll do fine. If not, you don't need to be a pharmacist! 😉

hey guys, sorry to get in the middle of that cheating sdn show but i just wanna know if you can get an interview at sullivan without sending ur immunization staff...because i have a 3.8 gpa and i sent all the things needed for the apllication about 2 weeks ago except the immunization form and i havent receive an invitation for interview yet. do you know if it is because my immunization staff???

As far as I know you need to send your immunization records in before you will be considered for an interview. Also, are you certain they have received your LOR's. Did you send them two passport sized photos? I did not initially (because they were not requested on the application or the checklist) but I received an email requesting I send them which I complied with the same day. A few days later I got invited for my interview!

i requested to join the facebook group 😀😎

I have a question for those who are recently accepted to Sullivan.
(Congrats ya'll!!!) Did all of you take a PCAT and got the adequate score to enhance your competition? or Is there anyone who did not take a PCAT but still got accepted? :scared:

I am so happy!!! i just received my letter of acceptance into the pharm program at sullivan class of 2013 🙂. I DID TAKE THE PCAT 2 years back which has eventually expired but then, it does not matter though, its optional.

How was your interview? Would you please post some feedback? Thanks 😛

Getting down to the wire. Less than one week before the interview for some of us!

How did you guys prepare for the interview? I've been talking to myself in the mirror, and I've been having my mom ask me questions. When I get nervous, I like to talk a lot, so if anyone has suggestions on how to slow down and stay calm, I'd appreciate it.

Also, what is the appropriate response time? I've heard to keep responses less than 2 minutes, and not to go over 5. 🙄 Just curious.

I interviewed today and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. Just remember try to give clear and concise answers that answers the question. I'd say make sure you re-read through your admissions letter, research the school so you can ask intelligent questions, and just be confident in yourself.

i just read the facebook stuff, and i don't consider it as cheating at all. i took one course and it had facebook for discussion. it worked very well. students use facebook now all the time, why dont we go there get in touch w/ classmates especially in a big class, discuss class materials and share w/ other classmates to get their opinions. Honestly, there are many ways to cheat such as students can borrow materials from previous students. why dont we make everything accessible for students, and professors' jobs are to make up tests for students, and they shouldnt be the same as previous ones. Most of my courses, professors recommended us to check out old tests and materials so we can get an idea about the tests and prepare for them. there is no such thing as cheating when students come w/ prepared.

Wes,

Thanks for posting your interview feedback - it was very helpful! I know those of us still facing interviews would appreciate others like you to do the same. There are only 4 feedback posts for Sullivan and yours is the only one that really provided any details. I plan to post mine after my interview on 10/29!
