Hey, I'm new here, but I have kind of a summer program dilemma... I've been accepted to the MD Anderson CPRIT-CURE program and the St. Jude's Pediatric Oncology Education program, and rejected from the Iowa SUMR program, but I am still waiting to hear back from the rest of my programs. The problem is, St. Jude's has given me a deadline of early tomorrow morning to reply with my acceptance, or I will lose my spot. St. Jude is my second choice, but I have not heard back yet from my first choice, the University of Cincinnati. (It's my first choice because they have a program specifically focused for undergrads who want to do an MD-PhD later, with more structure and development for that career path).
St. Jude sounds like a great place, and I've already had a phone interview with a mentor there. He wasn't one of my top choices initially, but after talking to him I think I could find an interesting project in his lab. He seems like he really wants me to work with him. I just don't like how they are pressuring me to reply tonight or they will reject me. I called Cincinnati today and they said they could expedite my application process, but there's no way I will find out today. Should I just take my second choice in case I get rejected from Cincinnati? What would you all do in this situation?
I wish I had your dilemma! St. Jude was my dream but my sGPA slightly missed the cutoff :/
I say follow your gut. If you'd be happy there accept it! If not, worst case you end up at CPRIT which isn't a bad gig! Cinci told me that we will know by March 31st latest but there's no telling when youll find out, even expedited.
