The Men of Letters Bunker
Lebanon, Kansas

“I think the world’s gonna end bloody. But it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fight. We do have choices. I choose to go down swingin’.”

Dean Winchester tapped the table with his fingers. Castiel was late again. What the hell was that angel up to this time? And why hadn't he called if he was going to get held up?

"You know, you look like a jilted lover when you scowl like that," Crowley smirked. Dean scowled harder. "I'm sure your angel boy is fine. Flitting about doing angel business or whatever. What I'm wondering is, where is Moose?"

Dean rolled his eyes at the demon's pet name for his brother. But there was no need for Crowley to know what Sam was working on. Not right now, anyway. The demon opened his mouth to needle Dean some more, and Dean contemplated whether it would be a bad idea to stab him in the throat. At that moment the bunker's security picked up activity at the perimeter. Suddenly the monster radar built into the map table they were sitting at was all lit up.

"Well," said Crowley with a smile, "That can't be good."

Special Game Mechanics - READ CAREFULLY

This game is built around two non-standard mechanics. It is a bit experimental, so my deepest apologies if it turns into a broken mess.

The first mechanic is the "cannibal" modifier. There are certain roles in the game that are able to perform "cannibal" or hidden kills. When these roles kill someone, they stash the body, so that the dead player's role and alignment are only revealed privately to the killer, and are not revealed on thread.

Despite the motto "what is dead should stay dead", this is rarely the case in Supernatural. As such, there are multiple opportunities for resurrection. These opportunities are contingent on particular requirements being met.

As an additional note: There are consequences in place for relying on role reveals this game, both as a game-solving method and as a crutch for defending yourself. You won't be mod-killed if you do it, but you will probably regret it. However, I love this show and am happy to talk about your characters in your role PMs as much as you like. Consider me your personal Supernatural wiki.

General Gameflow
1. The story of this game is inspired by characters, themes, and plotlines of the CW television show Supernatural. The specifics of the story, however, are of my own creation with the help of my co-mods. If you are familiar with the show, don't be surprised if things seem...strange. Writeups may or may not reflect actual game events.

2. Each player can have ONE PM partner. Please submit your request in your role PM. Priority will be randomized and you will be notified at the end of day 1 if you can open your PM. Once your PM partner dies, you will have no further PM opportunities.

3. Days will close at 10pm EDT and nights will close at 7am EDT. We will happily (and preferably) close night early if we receive all actions before the mods go to bed.

Rules
1. Remember this is a game and is meant to be fun. We will not tolerate personal attacks against other players. Think before you post. Things can get heated, but keep it to accusations and rebuttals about this game.

2. Do not discuss the game outside of the thread and mod-sanctioned PMs.

3. Place votes in bold or ####between numerous octothorpes#### using the terms "vote" or "yeet". If you have already placed a vote, you must unvote to place a new one. "No vote" is not an option.

4. Participation requirements are in place. You must vote and make at least 10 posts each day cycle. The first infraction will incur a warning, the second will result in modkill.

4. Subs are available for extenuating life circumstances only, not to replace ghosty players. If you require a sub, please contact the mods directly. Do not post about it on the thread. We do not currently have anyone signed up to sub so...don't bank on that option.

5. Dead players should post in ******stars****** and keep commentary to a minimum. Also, mind your reactions to posts.

6. Direct quoting or copy/pasting of PMs is not allowed. Screenshots are not allowed. Fake copy/pasting, quoting, and screenshots are not allowed either.

7. You may edit posts, but do not delete them, and do not edit yeet votes.

8. Do not discuss or share your night results before the writeup is posted. However, you are free to continue to strategize between yeet close and writeup.

9. Gifs are welcome (and encouraged in a Supernatural game - there's a gif for everything) but should be hidden in spoiler tags for ease of thread loading.

A quick note about WW theory and how I will play this game:
Note that the arguments and facts presented here are indisputable, and that I will not engage in arguments about them, because those arguments are you wasting everyone else's time about meta that is well and comprehensively established. Go make reads so we can read you.

I've reflected on my role and realized that there is a GTO (Game Theory Optimal) play for me in this game, and therefore I am compelled to pursue it. I am going to brute force my clearness immediately upon the opening of the thread.

I am hard-claiming, and I will never be rescinding. I am the Seer. When it becomes prudent I will provide my peeks.

Benefits:
1. I will survive tonight: I do not believe the wolves are able to kill me tonight, because it is so objectively unlikely that I would ever do this as the seer. I believe that this decision reduces the importance of the seer cover to be provided by all of you to the point of it being negligible. The wolves have already been outplayed, as it were.

2. I'm lock clear: All of you already know I'm lock clear, because it is so objectively unlikely that I would do this as a wolf. You know this for at least two reasons. First, this is the easiest, lowest-stress, lowest-demand game to wolf in that I've ever played in (except for turbos). I have no need to complicate my life, as a wolf, by open-claiming on thread open, when all I have to do is provide like a C-level wolf game to probably win. This is the rare instance where you literally know that I have a billion other options as a wolf, AND that I would pursue probably ALL of them before pursuing this. Second, I engage in FPS (Fancy Play Syndrome) exceedingly rarely, which necessarily means that I know that this will look WEIRD and SHOCKING to you. There is no merit to a wolf play that instantly generates WEIRD and SHOCKED responses that I would be obligated to finesse and manage for the remainder of the game. As a villager, which I am, the burden is totally on you to not **** up and yeet me. Makes my life super awesome.

3. There are only 11 players you need to try to read, rather than 12. I have already provided a "free" peek of me in a game with a mere 12 players. Our win equity is dramatically improved by my being entirely off the table for the entire game.

Conclusion:
The burden of sound reasoning is now entirely upon you. I am the seer, and thus a villager, and thus lock clear. The game is immediately simpler than it would otherwise have been, because of my decision. Now, let us enjoy that benefit and win the game.

Also, to preempt a lengthy and pointless discussion:
It is NOT dumb to ponder this post and convince yourself of its wisdom. That is your obligation as a villager, and I encourage you to think it over for as long as it takes to quell your (initially valid but ultimately unnecessary) concerns. It IS dumb to, AFTER doing that pondering, conclude that I'm "neutral" or "wolfy." That is legitimately stupid, and I won't entertain it. ONE of the reasons it is a stupid conclusion is that the upside of this play as a wolf is absolutely DWARFED by the upside of this play as a villager. There is no equivalency between the EV (Expected Value) gain for wolf-me in this position and villager-me in this position. They're universes apart. That means I wouldn't DO the poorer option of the two (by extension, wolf-me also wouldn't BELIEVE that I could convince the entire game of the truth of these assertions for the entire game, which as an end-game wolf I would have to believe if this strategem were to be worth pursuing). A SECOND reason that conclusion is stupid is that the EV bonus of doing this as a wolf is COMPLETELY DWARFED by my baseline wolf EV anyway. Anything that complicates my wolfing life is RIDICULOUSLY stupid for me to do, given that my wolfing life is ALREADY one of the smoothest, highest expectation wolfing lives in WW history anyway. A THIRD reason that conclusion is stupid is that you would probably have to worry about being EXPLOITED by this gambit in order to get there. However, I have NEVER engaged in this, or any similar, gambit in my entire career, meaning that if there IS exploitation to be had with this play, it is in FUTURE GAMES, not this game. For these reasons, pressuring me is extremely wolfy and should not be engaged in by any villager, ever, in this game. There will be no less productive pursuit than that in this game.

Sucks for the wolves when meta is wielded this brutally, but my allegiance is plain and my strategy perfect.

Are... Are you... Is this 3P Zenge?

@Animal Midwife if it's any consolation for your losses, I'm pretty sure all the Supernatural games have been mildly to moderately broken in one way or another

Just as broken as the characters on the show...

mods: role revealing bad
Zenge *immediately*: **** you I disagree
I'm idly wondering if part of the consequences mentioned might actually make it mechanically advantageous for him, as a unique case. But I'm not really feeling like wine this morning so it is incredibly idle and quickly discarded.

Zenge I haven’t even left bed yet it’s too early for this 😂

Too long, didn’t read

This was not a “quick note” at all smh

Are we interpreting the cannibal modifier as a state that can happen to villagers and wolves, like a weird 1x PR that's conversion-ish, or are we taking cannibals as a 3P (like the Bender family)?

The only time I've seen it, it applied to a 3p. But there's not enough information to say what it means for this game barring further evidence outside of applies to vig/factional kill.

It gave me thoughts that I’m not willing to put on thread day 1
