The Good PWWace - GAME THREAD

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyway, here was the thought process behind the overall design and balance of the game.

We knew that we wanted this game to follow the show canon as closely as possible, which made for some profound design and balancing challenges and I'm so glad that we had 3 brains trying to tease through them.

The game started out with as the following:

- 7 villagers, who were various bad place demons because there aren't enough characters otherwise.
- Good Janet as a neutral 3p - as Zenge was a sandbag, we did not have a wincon for him. Before he got yeeted, his vote did count and some night actions would give him a result, mainly for the lulz.
- Trevor, Bad Janet, and Shawn as a Bad Place Demons faction with the wincon of hunting down the humans
- Michael was a 3P whose wincon was to create an item to help each faction, so he was the only one who started the game with knowledge that it was a factional game.
- Eleanor was a lost wolf who knew she was a lost wolf, but did not know her wincon was to hunt the Bad Place Demons, as she didn't know that at the beginning of the show. Jason also knew he was a lost wolf because he knows right away that something is wrong, but he did not have a wincon specified either. Tahani and Chidi were separated from the group as well, but were not told they were wolves and were just floating without wincons. Each night, we added one of them to wolf chat - that was the plan, but the game did the whole "this is the bad place" thing earlier than we were planning to do it as a Big Reveal, so we adjusted the timeline based on that so that we could add Tahani and Chidi in, give the wolves their wincon of hunting down the demons, and add Michael to demon chat.

The villagers were given individual wincons and would have won as a group if 4/7 had completed their wincons by end of game and any were still alive. They were at 3 at the time the game ended. They were basically inclusive 3Ps, but we couldn't think of a better way to balance around the story.

In hindsight, there were a lot of design elements that we would tweak, in part because when we actually sat down and looked at it, we'd stacked it pretty heavily against the humans, so the fact that they were in such a favorable spot was more a tribute to how they played the game than the game design.

but such is the nature of running a grossly unconventional game, you realize things you could have done better when things you hadn't anticipated at all happen.

Samac was never ever in my blocc after our PM. I need her to think she was.
I didn’t think you were likely bad place demon so I didn’t want to hurt you lol.
I shouldn’t have been in any blocc. I was putted and waiting for the other shoe to drop

He felt like his stepmom thread had changed. We also just got our last in the previous cycle
You have GOT to be kidding me! I did legitimately travel all day to a conference and sit in a hall all day distracted! How could you have such a good read on me??? 😂

i think it's easier to hide a group if they're acting as individuals rather than a coordinated group from the start. like why samac doesn't open her role PMs day 1 to look less like a wolf. i do agree that the humans played really well though!

So, I actually am not really joking when I say that not having a sketchy wincon or packmates at the beginning of the game is beneficial. I think there is a element you have to take into account of the humans being able to blend in fairly well with the village for the first couple of days because they had no knowledge of any other wincon to work towards, and no interactions to worry about.

Which is not to say there couldn't be tweaks and whatnot. But I don't think that element is as much of a disadvantage as it would seem.

PR-wise they were very handicapped compared to the demons, which was not intentional, but we realized it once they were in the full group.

YOURE MY CHILD I KNOW YOU

Here’s what I was doing at work lol

Explain your stuff to me like im stupid (i am)
I cut out names in case folks wanted to guess

We killed Dubz so was bad demon
Got gennys night results
And redirected what we thought was a seer to spurs
I was trying to get rid of your ability. Not because I thought you were a big bad but I wanted it gone lol

Also gold star to kitz for not only keeping up in her first ever game but also embracing it and using her lie detecting powers amazingly!

genny guessed that too!

Damn, genny. Especially for how busy you were, you did a great job picking up on stuff

I knew it the moment she voted me and I went well fork
So then I decided to try and shove her in a pocket
And to her credit she fought really hard against that lol

Who’s the marriage counselor?
You paired AM and I up and it was the same night we got paired together as wolves. I thought that was absolutely fantastically hilarious.
And I said to am “I’m treating this like a village pm you do the same” and we had no strategizing. The first page and a half of wolf chat is me shouting at her and her posting exactly 6 times lol

But also thank you for giving me another one today! I really really do love Pam’s.

But like currently I think it's less likely people like Barks and squeeb are human, vs people like samac and AM
I don't really know why it didn't occur to me that the reason Barks and I were posting similar thoughts was because we had similar perspectives on the game lol I just expected the humans to be more gung-ho Clem interaction hunting

Your individual wincon is to successfully use your ability on Chef Patricia, Tahani, and Trevor.

This was my wincon. So i was fkd after PSV was gone which is why i was trying to search for anything of theirs i could use that first day

And then Glen was my date night and im like stop killing all my peopleee

I don’t think I played that as a wolf.
We didn’t get a wincon and I shrugged about it as a lost wolf but when I joined with AM I thought something was fishy and asked the mods if our wincon was parity and they were like “eeerr a win con be revealed in time” and that’s when I theorized that we needed to get the Shawn and Trevor at a minimum and I started shouting at AM about IS CLEM SHAWN on d2. I got hmm’s in response.
But given that I was playing in a village mindset in a tinfoil laden world and just trying to avoid throwing heat on Tahani and Chidi before they found us

Yeah the thought that you were human was based on your ability, and then later based on how you were approaching the game. Not really on "wolfiness" or anything. You were village samac generally lol

Okay, its pretty funny that @_rae_ was my buddy all along.

Did you even know that you like to bite humans?

On this note though, I did drop a line about biting humans specifically in hopes that whoever was Gunnar would see it and be familiar enough with the show to maybe hint back at me. It did not work.
