Did they e-mail you or did you call to check to see if everything was received? I'm still waiting on one of my recommendation letters.

I usually emailed them, and they replied in a day or so. They'll give you a check list of what they have received and what they will need you to submit.
They accept faxed LOR and email scanned LOR too (of course your prof has to do that) - less hassle and save a stamp! 😀

I would have to give him another form where I signed and waived my rights so that he can resend the letter. I won't be able to see him until after the deadline so I don't think that will work out so well. I don't know. I'm really worried that my last letter of recommendation won't make it in time. He is the last component of ALL my applications. *sigh*

Can you email him? Does he remember who you are?
I downloaded the online form from TX A&M, electronically signed it using PDF tool and emailed it to my out of state recommender.
One of my profs wasn't up for writing LOR at all this year (some of my classmates applying for grad schools fall in the same situation). So I wasn't gonna nag him another time, I had to ask an MD I know for a long time to help me. And A&M is ok with it.
Pretty sure you can also ask an employer or volunteer supervisor to help you with LOR if you don't have a lot time left.

He said he sent it on Monday. I think I'll try calling Friday to see if it has arrived in the office. I hope they will be able to tell me that information.

Texas A&M has one of the best staff in my opinion. If your LOR was faxed, the school should get it right away and will update within 1-2 business day. Good luck!

I applied too, good luck to everybody else 😎

This is one of my top school to attend! I hope I get an invite for an interview.

You are below average on both the GPA and the PCAT. You could easily get by with a 3.33 gpa, but a 53 PCAT score will most likely not cut it. Your other sections will need to be very strong to be seriously considered, at least in my opinion.

Other people may have a different take though.

So my Houston recommendation arrived today but my A&M hasn't. My recommendator sent both of them at the same time so I'm not sure if the mail is just slower to get to the valley. This is really stressing me out.

I see why you pick your screen name now. LOL. I feel you!
There's still another 8 days for this school 🙂 Maybe they just haven't had time to sort the mails.
Don't worry too much though. What's done is done. Just sit back and try to relax.

Applied the weekend after Christmas and just waiting to see what they will say...I hope for the best and good luck to everyone!

I finally submitted my application today.

Yes, I sent mine.

I was confused by this as well. On the PharmD homepage there is a statement saying that applicants only need to send transcripts if accepted. However, on the application it states that we need to: "Mail transcripts and recomendation forms postmarked by January 15 to ...".

Do I need to mail the transcripts by the 15th or not?

I remember submitting my transcripts at the time I applied and after I was accepted. The transcript after an acceptance is important to verify if you have a degree (B.S. or whatever). You can contact the office to see what you need, but if I was applying I would submit a transcript with the application. Good luck.

I personally would rather be safe than sorry. I'd send it in, it certainly can't hurt.

I requested for my Fall transcript to be sent yesterday. They will probably mail it out either today or tomorrow. Does anyone know if it will be postmarked on that day? I'm just worried that it may not arrive at the office by Jan 15th and I'm not sure if the university stamps it as being postmarked on a certain day.

I just received a response from Dr. Roberston. Looks like you only need to submit unofficial transcripts at this point. He stated that:

"The College can use unofficial transcripts now from all colleges/universities a student has attended to review an application to determine eligibility for an interview opportunity. However, if after the interview, a student is offered and accepts admission to the College of Pharmacy, that student would then need to request that official transcript (s) from any college/university attended be sent directly from the respective Registrar's Office to the College at the following address:

Office of Student Affairs - Admissions
Texas A&M Health Science Center
Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy
1010 West Avenue B, MSC 131
Kingsville, TX 78363

Yes, unofficial transcripts must be sent and postmarked by January 15 for your application to be reviewed. If recommendations are mailed after January 15, they will be accepted since those you ask to submit them are sometimes slow in completing them for the applicant.

I hope this information has served to answer your questions. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

James Robertson

Dr. Robertson is awesome. He's a huge reason I liked A&M. 🙂 👍

I had a question for anyone that goes to UT and is applying to TAMU-Pharmacy- On the pre-req's it says that Biology+Labs are required. Do you guys know what specific lab is required?

One is dissection lab (Spring) and the other is mainly using the microscope (Fall).

I know that they give out about 250 interview invites but does anyone know how many applications are thrown out because of incomplete applications?

Here are a few statistics from previous years. I don't know how many of them were incomplete. Hope this helps
Fall 2006
For the fall 2006 class the College received 575 applications for 76 seats.

Fall 2007
For the fall 2007 class the College received 604 applications for 77 seats.
Fall 2008
For the fall 2008 class the College received 583 applications for 87 seats.
Fall 2009
For the fall 2009 class the College received 518 applications for 87 seats.

Fall 2010

For the fall 2010 class the College received 440 applications for 87 seats.

I talked to Dr. Robertson about that at the last Admission Committee meeting we had and he suggested it was more of a reflection of the downward economy more than anything. I think with the cost of applying, interviewing, and securing deposits for spots people are not applying to the a lot of schools at once. I remember going through PharmCAS and applying to 12 or so schools plus non-PharmCAS but do not think I could do that now. It is also getting more competitive as well so there are other underlying factors out there.

eeeeshh! i hope they send out invites next month! I cant wait till marchhhh

I believe interviews will be held a little earlier this year. I have heard interviews might be moved up to February, so stay tuned.

Their website lists the interview dates as February 10, 11, 17, 18, and 24. So hopefully we will be getting invites soon! :xf:
Their site also states that Admission offers are made in early March.

And don't forget that today is the deadline (In case you forgot)!

I knew these were going to be the dates but did not know if they were public yet. This is the earliest they have ever done interviews. I will be helping with interviews this year so I will be seeing you in February. Good luck.

Does anyone else feel like they are going crazy?

I can't wait to hear back about the interview invites lol... hopefully they come out next week so we can make travel arrangements in time if we need to!!!!

:scared:

I've been going crazy since the summer haha

lol I hear ya! I sent in my application in October (all except my Fall '10 transcript) and ever since then I've been a nervous wreck.

However, I did hear a rumor leak that the Pharmacy building had some issues with mold because of the way it was built not to code. I thought the school was pretty new? Can anyone verify this rumor? If it is true, what will happen to the pharmacy students?

I don't know about not being built to code, but yes there is a mold problem now in the building. However most buildings in South Texas probably have mold in them some where that's just the nature of high humidity/temperature and nothing being able to dry out. When Dr. Nancy Dickey, HSC President, addressed us last semester she said that they would be working on the building to address some of the issues. Due to budget constraints (all Universities in Texas face up to 25% cuts over the next few years) it may take time to get the entire problem resolved. However, classes, interviews, and admissions should go on as usual. There are air purifiers/scrubbers in the building and according to air samples the air inside the building is actually better than outside and the mold concentrations are rather low. There are rumors as to how the mold got into the building in the first place, but the fact of the matter is the mold is there, but it is not significant enough to warrant closure of the building/school. Dr. Dickey and the Chancellor of the A&M system are both physicians and would not put the health of the students and faculty at risk. Should anyone have further questions about the mold contact Dr. Robertson as he has more specific knowledge of the situation. Hope this helps clarify the situation and does not deter anyone from applying to the school.
