FYI - I spoke with a friend of mine today, and she said that last year they actually posted early. She said they had the results posted by 11:00PM CST. 😱 That would be one less hour we would have to wait! 🙂
I don't remember this happening but then again, I don't remember last week either. 😉

Reapplicants, do any of you know differently?

Nope. Look at last years thread. It went up at almost exactly 12am CST 1am EST. At least the Super Bowl made the time pass quickly.

The joys of being in Pacific time...

School makes the time pass quickly. Being in class again has been such a blessing--it keeps my mind busy and occupied and my days (or at least the past two) have flown by!

<whine>1 am EST! OHHHHHHHH nooooooo boooooooooooo i forgot texas is CST...i realize one hour more than expected at this point is almost nothing, but nooooooooooooo 🙁 🙁 🙁</whine>

At least you found out now - imagine logging on after midnight 2-1 and seeing that same blank screen!

I can just imagine as 12:00 on the 31st rolls around. We will all be hovering around our computers hitting the refresh button every second. It's a lot like bidding on e-bay!

Haha, I wish we could bid on an acceptance!

Hey y'all. This thread rocks. I've been following it for a while now but never posted.

I'm not quite sure if this thread is helping pass the time though. It just makes me think about feb 1st all the more!

Anyways, i thought it would be fun to see how many times y'all have called or emailed TMDSAS with questions about your application. Collectively, emails and calls combined, I'm thinking I'd be around 15. Is that psycho or did yall do the same thing?

I emailed them once, but I'm sure there's a lot of other psychos that have called an emailed more than you here. 😀

I called 7 times (2 - UTSW, 2 - Texas Tech, 2 - UTMB, 1 - A & M) and sent out one email...but I bet I'm on the way low end...

I was just calling to ask if I had missed an email or letter but I'm wondering if anyone thinks it actually helps? I got a very late invite (like 7 days before the interview date) to Tech's last interview date pretty soon after calling the second time...but that's probably a coincidence.

No one has any news to report anymore since interviews are over and acceptances are yet to come. 12 more days, and then the thread will be busy again. 🙂

what is the latest news on the medical schools? In sure some here are in the know!

the last I heard UTSw was planning to buy one of its hospitals-what is the latest on this? Are these hospitals used for any rounds/ residencies in particular? How does this change things?

San Antonio - their MS1 year was being overhauled to follow an organ systems approach like ms2. Have they finally completed the curriculum? Are any details known, like # of hours per week, It of classes etc?

UTSW recently took ownership of St. Paul Hospital and Zale Lipshy hospitals. They will be called University Hospital-Zale Lipshy and Univ. Hosp-St. Paul. I think St. Paul is used for some rounds and has residencies, but I don't know about Zale. For the most part, Parkland will remain the main teaching hospital. It's basically a matter of money that they are consolidating.

lol, I love how y'all have the countdown time in the subject of the post, but then the post is about something else completely!

Anyway, I agree with Asiandoc, class definitely helps pass the time. Especially since my Biochem class has a test every 2 weeks :scared:

I should've taken biochem...literaly, 2/3rds of the med students I talked to brought it up on their own..."If you can take biochem you should..."

Maybe I should just go audit the class at least...

I am applying like you, but if you have not taken biochem I would STRONGLY advise at least auditing if not taking it (like p/f or something to ensure that you do some active learning). This course is very important for medicine and by seeing it before med school it will only make the course somewhat easier when you are in med school.

WOOOHOOOO!!! I got an interview with Baylor!! I was so excited when I got the email with a subject line "Congratulations! Please find your Baylor College of Medicine Interview Invitation Attached." I screamed so loud that my roommate ran upstairs thinking something had happened. 😛 😀

I've heard that too. Some med students have told me it was their hardest class, but that probably depends on the school. I was told that the years worth of biochem in undergrad is covered in <5 weeks in med school 😱

That is supposedly true but any exposure is helpful for more than what you retain, its very useful for just being familiar with the terminology and assisting in understanding how to learn the information.

Thanks for the advice...I'm going to start going to biochem lectures regularly...but without the lab...*shrug* not much I can do about that...

Not to get ahead of ourselves but, if you guys could pick a speciality right now what would it be? I'm thinking pedi thoracic/cardiac surgery or trauma surgery/sicu...

I know this post has been around before concerning all applicants but I'm wondering what Texas apps are interested in...

Wow, good job...Baylor is a great school in what I think is really the most incredible clinical enviournment and I hope your interviews go awesome!

maybe anesthesiology 😴

Yep. Last year we were talking about the LMFU. I was told last year by TMDSAS that the LMFU date represents the last time anything was done to your application or the time your file was last accessed. *****I have no idea if it has anything to do with the match*****. My experience is that I applied to one school and was accepted. My LMFU date changed to and remained at 01/15/04. Personally, I would be shocked to find out that this link (between the LMFU and the match) was discovered some years ago and was never written in stone. You would think that even with only 3 or 4 years of applications, there would be a direct link discovered and perpetuated.

Just wondering...do any of the reapplicants or current med students know of a case of someone that matched on Feb. 1, but had not been validated by that time? Thanks!

I think... emergency medicine

BTW I know you guys problably don't want to talk about this but, this is really bugging me... I keep seeing people from last year who got validated before Feb.1 and did not match, however, I haven't seen anyone yet whose validation date was 000000 on Feb.1 and DID match.
Reapplicants, med students, anybody???????

Validation has NOTHING to do with the match!!!!!!

Let's hope not cuz my numbers haven't changed since before the ranking day.

JDAD said:

Most likely you are right... but I was just curious to see if anybody matched without being validated, that's all!

My validation still reads: 000000000000000000000000000000000000

It says on TMDSAS that the validation occurs when TMDSAS checks to make sure you have completed pre-reqs.

If you are going to be concerned about a date, be concerend about the "last master file update"

Nobody knows if there is a link between LMFU and the Match

Hollywood plastic surgery baby!!! It's all about the Butts and Boobs!!!!

No, seriously, hem/onc.

Medical epidemiology. I want to end up at the special pathogens branch at CDC so I can put on the space suit when there's an outbreak of something nasty.

plastic and reconstructive surgery for real, here.

I was poking fun more at the cosmetic aspect of it, The Swan. Not trauma, burns, or congenital malformations. If the cosmtic route is what you are planning, more power to ya.

Radiology or radiation oncology. Anatomy and technology =)

Don't worry about it, everyone scoffs when I tell them that plastics is what i have wanted to do for as long as i have been interested in medicine. my dream would be to be the director of the burn unit at a major hospital. i'm really not at all interested in cosmetics.

I think that is great. It's a tough specialty. Did you ever watch Resident Life?? They had a burn fellow on there.

Yah, well, we'll see after 4 years of medical school <sigh>. It's not as tough as derm, though.

I read that TCOM is sending out rejections. Does this mean that we could possibly get rejected from other schools before the results of the match?

Interesting. I have heard rad is pretty damn tough too, but if thats what you want after the first 3 years, then go for the gold!!
