I'm guessing the movement at UT schools is much less though, right?

This is probably true for all TMDSAS schools, not just UT schools. The match should cut down on turnover.

Happy weekend folks! 😀

I will be attending a wedding 🙂 ....and a funeral 🙁

That's probably normal; the sad part is that no one seems to be withdrawing from UTMB and therefore opening spots for waitlisted students. I've just about given up on them

guys...never say never...i gave up my "matched" spot at UTMB on the first day because I got into a different Texas school through one of their combined programs...i'm sure there's other people who will drop from the different Texas schools too...I gave up my spot immediately because I already knew where I wanted to go but I've talked to A BUNCH of people who are holding multiple spots in TX schools (mostly Baylor kids) and will most likely give up their matched spots too...just wait guys I'm sure there'll start to be some movement soon...

good luck everyone!

Me too..if I am not lucky enough to get pulled from a waitlist, I hope the people on this thread are!! 😍

Hey Everybody,

I've haven't been around postin for awhile now cause I just wanted to try to not think about this whole situation for awhile. that has just been unsucessful and yea i don't need to explain to this group of people how frustrating this process is. But recently, I've been reading the posts and y'all are a great group of people. And maybe thats only cause we're all in this boat together but i don't care, its nice to be stuck with good people. i prolly won't be posting much for awhile cause school is bearing down but definitely good luck to everybody. and to echo a previous message, if anybody takes a spot on one of the schools i'm waitlisted by i hope its someone on this thread. late.

Just wanted to tell everyone...The sun's going to come up tomorrow and the world will turn. Realize how fortunate we all are - we can type, read and communicate our ideas. Unfortunately, not everyone has that capability. We've all made it through the various culling processes that have placed us on the waitlist. By that fact alone, we are qualified to perform and be in med. school. Not everyone can do that for various reasons. No, it's not what we wanted, but perhaps there's some reason for it.

The underlying motive for all of us wanting to become physicians, at some level, is that we want to help and care about others. Might I suggest that we take whatever time we have with people, whether it's 30 seconds passing them in the hall or 2 years as a study partner, to build them up and make them feel better about themselves than when they came into contact with us.

Sorry to ramble, but I've been under a lot of stress both financially and with the whole waitlist/postbacc situation. I had to remember that some day I'm going to have to answer for how I spent my life and who I helped with the gifts and talents I was given. It really helped refocus me and put things into perspective. Don't mean to be offensive to anyone else's belief systems or whatever so please excuse me if I have.

Some of y'all are a riot and I hope to meet you face to face someday. Preferably in class trying to figure out just what the heck is going on with that thingy on the slide the prof is showing us.....

Hi- I'm new to SDN and was wondering if anyone knew the waitlist sizes of UTSW and Baylor?

I'm pretty sure the UTSW one is huge 🙁 What quarter are you in, and are you in-state or out-of-state? Third quarter, out-of-state here.

So guys, I finally made the decision to stay in Houston, and I withdrew from the University of Nevada. Sorry to those on the UTH waitlist, but I think most of you were on the in-state waitlist anyways. I think there will be something of a dominio effect come may though.

What's this about TMDSAS schools having a different date? That doesn't make sense to me b/c you can't possibly hold acceptances to more than one TMDSAS school, only to a TMDSAS and an AMCAS...but the AMCAS school will drop you on May 15 if you don't make up your mind anyways! I don't understand TMDSAS logic in having a different date, but whatever.

Confirmation (from TMDSAS website) for the poster who asked about the date:

"Acceptances from alternate lists may continue through June 1. After June 1, no medical school in Texas may offer a position to an applicant already accepted by another medical school in Texas. This is the result of an agreement between the four U.T. System Medical schools, Baylor College of Medicine, Texas A&M University System Health Science Center College of Medicine, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, and University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth College of Osteopathic Medicine."

I'm second quarter, in-state, but that doesn't mean much unless they release info about the size of the pool.

To everyone else: I don't know if it helps but TMDSAS states schools must finalize by June 1st but UTSW said they won't finalize until June 15th.

I think the June 15th date applies to all of the TX schools. I heard that they changed the date this year. Is that correct? The TMDSAS site still says June 1st but they aren't very good at updating the site.

wow it's basically may and still nothing.

has anyone been told by the school that may 15 is when most students tell them yes or no.

I've been told by my schools that they won't start accepting from the alternate list til May 15th.

I've been told by my schools that they won't start accepting off the waitlist til after May 15th.

My application has been deleted from TMDSAS :meanie:
Hmm so was mine...but I thought we had to submit transcripts to them still for SP 05? How are we going to find out if they get them if we can't view the status online...I dare not call them...they get bitchy *grin*

Me three....

😳

If you login to TMDSAS and check your documents (or anything else), all the blanks are...um...blank.

I guess they are getting ready for the next application cycle.

How's it going?

May is upon us so hopefully this thread will finally have some good news! 🙂

wow the new application cycle starts today. I have absolutely no desire to start filling it out as oppose to last year.

anyone has started this year's app?
what should i change if i have to reapply, my advisor said i should write in my personal statement about being a reapplicant. any thoughts?

i don't want to go through this again, i'll admit it was "kind" of fun the first time around but not again.

i know some people said they are repplicants, any advice, what did you guys change if anything. it feels very very weird having to apply again. I feel so uneasy about this.

There's always hope. I got into UTSW LATE in the season off of the waitlist. It sure made for a quick drive from Houston to Dallas...

I hear you but with my luck, I don't know what to think. whooosh.... 🙁 😡

Serioudly does anyone know anything to get rid of bad luck, I'm willing to try just about anything.

Do you mind if I ask which quarter you were in and whether you were in-state/out-of-state?

Oh I didn't even interview at UTSW (eventhought I believe I had the grades to at least be interviewed (then reject me), i'm in-state). I think the other guy was just talking about keeping faith in general.

so you got any voo-doo for me.

For those on the waitlist.....are yall filling out a FAFSA or gonna wait to see what happens... I mean there isnt really a deadline so I thought it would be ok to wait to see what happens.I suppose I can fill it out even in July/Aug...but first I have to get in!!!....GOOD LUCK

I thought most of the schools asked you to fill out the FAFSA before Feb 1st regardless of whether or not you had been accepted yet.

I would fill out the FAFSA if you are on a waitlist. When you get a spot the process will move more quickly.

Hi all-

I wanted to post and let everyone know that I went to the TCOM Open House on Saturday. Was anyone else in attendance? Although I already knew most of what was presented, maybe just my presence there will increase my chances for acceptance 😉 I was told that most TCOM spots will open up around May 15th as well.

On the reapplication front, I don't feel like I should reapply until I know for sure that I need to (blind optimism?). BUT, they moved the TMDSAS application deadline up to October 15th this year (instead of November 1st). So even less time to get applications in.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!
