Hi there!

I'm a MS-I at San Antonio. I had matched to Tech in February of last year and was all ready to go. Then, driving home from Virginia (I went to school in Richmond) after graduation in May, I got a phone call on Sunday afternoon from Dr. Jones who invited me off the waitlist. Obviously, I chose to go to SA. SO---Hold out hope because May is NOT too late. In fact, Lane (see below) is our class President.

As I wrote before I talked to someone who got off UTSA's waitlist last year and he (lane) was pulled off 5/11, I know it's late...
but that's all i know.

I am hoping this is an April Fools Day joke..If not Tech just lied to me.. I just got off the phone with the secretary in the admissions office and she said no waitlist movement yet
 
It better not be a joke! But I received the call yesterday and it wasn't April fools yet. They said that they'll send me the paper work, and then it'll be official.

Wow that's great.

I could see this being possible b/c tech has 140 people accepted for 140 slots, so they will move faster then other schools that have over accepted.
I want tech to call me.

did you send them a letter saying you wanna go there?

It's not a big deal anymore. I've known since February where I stood with Tech and all the other schools. Actually, I'm saving all my rejection letters with thoughts of having a little bonfire sometime after graduation 😀

I wanna know too, did you write any letters (letters of interest, update letters) if so, how many? How frequent?

For the waiting list I sent in my most recent transcript, I got 5 more recommendation letters, a letter of intent, and another letter explaining new things I have done since last summer. I was going to send in pictures of my paintings I did in college to show that I have extracurricular activities too, but I guess I don't have to do that any more. I also sent in a copy of the research publication I had.

In Feb. I called and made an appointment to discuss what I could improve on my application for the next year. They said they liked that because it shows how interested I am in their school. And it was great because if I didn't get in this year they gave me advice on what I could go improve (clinical experience and mcat).

I'm just so glad I can stop studying for the mcat!

so did you actually go there and talk to someone in FEB.

I presume tech was your first choice cause I'm reluctant to tell couple of schools i'll go there no matter what.
i called them today at 2pm and they said no waitlist movement, but i believe you. who called you.

may I ask you how you ranked your schools.
 
Anyone else not heard a word from baylor. I mean i realize I just interviewed there in early september so they cant be expected to tell me anything soon..
 
No I didn't go to Lubbock, I had a phone appointment.

Ms. Prado called me and left a message at my parent's house.
She said to call back by 3pm.

I wouldn't tell them I'll go there no matter what if you don't mean it. In my letter I just thanked them for placing me on their waiting list, told them how much I liked their school and that I'm really interested in going there.

Baylor was my first choice but I haven't heard anything back from them.
I'm waitlisted on the bottom of the list at UTSW where I ranked first.

Yup. I actually just called them this morning and was told everyone should hear something within two to three weeks. The same EXACT thing I was told in February. And then again in March. And now in April. I'm starting to get the feeling it's pointless to call.

The waitlist notifications came out in mid-April last year.

I really don't see why they can't tell us honestly when we will find out something. I've pretty much decided that I won't go there in the unlikely event that I do get accepted at this point (interviewed in September). I think that the treatment of applicants is indicative of how students will be treated. However, I did spend a lot of money applying to this school so I would at least like a response.

I blatantly forgot to set my cell phone to daylight savings. So I woke up an hour late for class this morning.

That would explain the unfamiliar lecture title on the projector as I sat down. Upon realizing this, I slinked out of class and immediately headed for the library for my SDN fix, coffee in hand.

Yikes...I'm glad my phone adjusted to daylight savings automatically.
 
Got a question..if you update your contact information on TMDSAS, do those changes go directly to all the medical schools, specifically UTMB? Thanks

But just to be on the safe side, I'd go ahead and also call UTMB or e-mail them. 🙂

I'm still rolling around, even though my chances of getting off the UTSW waitlist are about zero.

For anyone on the TCOM waitlist, I found out at my AED meeting today that there is an open house at TCOM later this month. I thought this might be a good opportunity to talk with TCOM staff (I heard the dean will be there) face-to-face and possibly increase your chances at getting in off the waitlist. Just an idea! :idea:

I emailed my pre-med advisor for the link with more info. I'll post it when she replies!

It's entertaining while you're watching it but afterwards, you realize it's actually pretty stupid. 🙂

Yeah that movie was pretty lame..So was the Grudge..I had to skip to the end just to see what happened
