Hello. I don't know if there are enough of these cases to open a thread in each specialty forum, so I'll start it here.

Double rejection from Georgetown Pediatrics... I guess they wanted to be sure I got the message. 🙂

What I was talking about was getting two rejection messages from the same program (same track, same everything).
I know it is a mistake, I just find it funny.

Just doubly rejected from LSU-New Orleans for emergency medicine.

Not sure if it's an ERAS quirk, an accidental double-click by someone, or maybe programs can put applicants into tiered groups and somehow you can get listed in two groups and thus doubly rejected.

This has got to be a record. Got yet another rejection from them making me triply rejected!!!

It's really easy to get confused, and send a second rejection email to a candidate.

However, I received a bunch of "email refused by server" messages when I sent a bunch of notices out. Gmail was specifically picky. I wasn't certain what to do, didn't want to send a second message if it wasn't needed. I contacted ERAS, and they seemed to think that the "emails went through" (but I think that's BS -- how would they know if you received it on your end?) and that they all went into your ERAS inboxes also.

And it's better than complete silence keeping you in limbo indefinitely

It's also better than what almost happened at my program this week. We almost sent everyone whom we have decided not to interview, an interview date.

Bottom line is that with ERAS, it's really easy to send the wrong email to the wrong people.

Got double rejected by an advanced program last year. The second one I got via email on my smartphone as I was walking out of a prelim interview at the same institution.

Got 2 rejections from two programs in september, then 2 invitations from the same programs in november ... Its surreal lol

I turned down an interview last month and just yesterday I got a rejection email from the same program saying that they are sorry, but they are unable to invite me for an interview. lol. I was like...okay...

I got that too. How very high school break up.

I also got a rejection from one of the aforementioned double rejections places AFTER I had already scheduled my interview. Seems to have been a glitch in the system of some sort and they rejected everyone.

I sent Stanford a letter of interest and their response was a double rejection

One of the psychiatry programs did this, then sent an email saying it was a mistake, and then sent a third email clarifying the issue that was titled "Interview at ____ Psychiatry Residency," raising up my hopes again.

Strangely, it was from the same institution that never bothered to send me a medical school rejection letter..... 🙄

Oh well- at least I'm no longer in limbo....

At least Stanford Rads sends rejections. If you were applying for IM, your letter would have been met with complete silence.

Actually I was officially rejected by Stanford IM a while back. I guess they wanted to make sure I knew how much of a 'reach' they were.

Bummer for you, but nice to know they're changing their practice. I'm personally still waiting for both my residency AND fellowship rejections from there...6 and 4 years later.

Well. there you have it! Got my fourth rejection today!! I was very tempted to send them a reply like "enough already guys..I have sinced moved on."
