Have any of y'all received a letter from The National Dean's List?
I can't tell exactly what it is, can't tell if its legit or not.
The website, www.thenationaldeanslist.com seems to emphasize no financial responsibilities contigent upon recognition by publishing my biography in their publication, and that it offers a chance to compete for $1,000 scholarship but... $1,000? Thats all? That'll pay for bills for a month. Not much of a scholarship if ya ask me. Still, if its legit, I'll compete for $20 if its free!

Also, it says only .5 of 1% of college students receive this award, and though my GPA isnt the worst (~3.5) I certainly know a lot of folks have better than mine!

Anyways, anyone else even heard of this?

I got one of these letters last year and from what I understand it is similar to those "Who's who of..." books. I think they are mainly trying to make money by selling you books with your name in them, but it is free to be in the book. I don't know if it holds any kind of weight in terms of being a reputable or anything, but you said, if its free it can't hurt...

I have recieved this letter last year and filled out the information. I didn't buy the book though. There was a small write up in my hometown paper later that I was on the list. I got the information again this year, but didn't turn the information in. So it is real, it's just up to you how you want to deal with it.

Congrats!

I got this letter last year or the year before, I can't remember. But I tossed it aside like I do anything else I get in the mail😀

I have received these as well and I sent in my info but didn't buy the books. I was in the Who's Who (for HS) and bought the books and realized that they're kind of a bunch of BS. They are so expensive and just take up space on the shelf. I know I've never opened mine since I bought them; maybe other people periodically check them out to reaffirm their awesome-ness... I don't know...

I think I used it to clean up some poo my puppy left on the floor...guess I'll miss out😀
