Who cares, BU have good residency program anyways. Just do that, no problem.

I got into bu and tufts. which is a better school... can any present bu studtens please help me?

I think if you wanna do general dent, Tufts give u great prep. they are pretty traditional and train pretty good general dentists nowadays. BU's good also, more in research, specialists typa thing.

im having trouble deciding between bu and tufts. are their any 4th year bu students that I can speak to...

Boston > Philly
PENN >>> BU

Pick your poison ;)

Those are my 2 options right now too but I think in leaning towards Penn because of the reputation and clinical training. It's also closer to home and cheaper cost of living

I am choosing between the Two. Except BU I got accepted early and PENN I got waitlisted recently.
My number one choice is PENN of course, but i'd see this as really depending on your needs. What do you want to get out from Dental School?

Many people that I know (I'm from Canada), Chose BU over PENN. I'd actually be the first to choose PENN among the people that I know that are choosing PENN vs. BU. Reason being, for me, I do not just want to end in general Practice. For me, it doesnt matter if the neighbourhood is shady or not. I just can't wait to use Research opportunity and learn from the most reputable researchers in medicine/dentistry. I am also eager to get my hands on Dual Degree with MBA. I really want to get into Dentistry on a bigger scale than opening up few small private practices. I want to be one of the leaders and teach and carry on research for future of Dentistry. For that reason PENN really attracts me.

For BU, the City is so much nicer. The environment, you're in THE COLLEGE TOWN! Over 200 Colleges in Boston Alone... you're surrounded by elites from Harvard, MIT, Berkely, TUFTS, BU... Boston sport teams are all around solid as well... baseball, basketball, hockey, ..etc. It's the ideal environment for networking and live a very fun and dynamic life throughout your dental school. Face it, Boston is one of the safest city and one of the most cultured to live in (other than the marathon incident last year). Even after the schooling, if you want to join a private practice and build careeer from there, Boston has huge network. And who wouldnt want to live in such a prosperous city?

In terms of school, all the people that I know chose BU because of the city and the School. BU is very dynamic and student involvement is huge. Their curriculum is very good and they emphasize that everyone passes the board. Since the class is not curved, everyone is out there to help each other. BU research is also strong and you can even do collaborations with other schools near by (since Boston is the college city). There are atleast 5 people from my university that are graduating this year alone. They all really loved the school and can't wait to get into real world.
Note: even if you don't have enough experience, you can do your residency and you get taught by the best as well (of course you get paid). Boston Speciality professors are very top notch. Especially in Endo,Perio,Prostho as well (from teachings of Dr. Shilder, one of world's renowned endodontist).

If you must know, BU can provide you a better business networking due to class size and the environment (Boston city itself).
PENN has better good solid research network. Because if you're more worried about clinical side, just might as well go to Tufts or Temple, because they are reputably have alot better clinical lol. But yeah just ask yourself what you want to get out of dentistry. This is an important choice to make. I do not wish to discourage you in choosing PENN beccause I got waitlisted :p , but I just wanted to share this with you. Do more research because clearly both schools are very good. Just ask yourself again what do you really want to get out from your Dental School and go from there.

I been looking for this thread lol. I got accepted as well! Looking for a place to stay..Anyone looking for apartments or know of any that most dental students take? Its so overwhelming at times and I am really confused..Also, does anyone drive there? How are the parking rates and insurance costs?

Has anyone not heard back from BU? I received a secondary end of last year and its been quite ever since...

Withdrew my seat on Friday. I hope one of you guys get it!

I know its extremely late but it really annoys me that to this day I have not received a rejection. Every time I inquire about the status of my application they tell me its still under review.. to this day ! How is that even possible...

What did you guys write for your supplemental application explanation of what draws you to BU's dental school?

I mentioned parts of their curriculum that stood out to me in that section.

I mentioned the hot BU babes. Hopefully they agree.

Like what?
There are required internships and externships at the end of the first year and during the forth year of dental school, respectively. They have a very integrated yet traditional curriculum which is something I personally really like about BU.

Like what?
Go on the website and read about their focus as a school and rewrite that lol. That's what I did (strong emphasis on service and research, area, family up there)
