I'm worried about panicking during the actual exam. The moment I panic I tend to stare at questions and passages even if they aren't hard and just be like wtf..and it wrecks me for the rest of the section. Anyone have any tips on how they stay calm during a tough passage?! I don't understand why it gets in my head so much

@Saxappeal1 GS 4 PS was definitely harder than GS 1-3 I think the gold standard tests are going to be the best for PS for the real mcat
I'm just have a feeling I'm going to get 10+ in BS and PS and then miserably fail VR

so what is your AAMC average?

My average is a 26...I would like to get a 28-30. I did some verbal practice passages tonight so I can hopefully pick up my score. I don't know what it will take to bump my BS up and over 10. I feel that if I could just bump those two sections, I'd be alright.

I feel like we are the same person bro, that's my fear too especially with a verbal passage or weird ass physics passage, thats why i really don't want a hard test even if it is curved more.

Get a good handle on hormones and being able to interpret those experimental passages properly.

My digestive tract goes a lil' crazy when I'm anxious, so I literally fear a case of the nervous squirts in the middle of the test.

TMI, but hey, I figure if reading about poop problems makes any one here uncomfortable, ya might wanna consider another profession 😉

same. last year before my *one and only* interview I had it terrible. I've been practicing eating about 30 min to an hour before I take a test so I have time to digest/settle and clear out before I begin, and so my body will already be comfortable with this arrangement come test time. You should consider trying it too!

I'm not a June 21st-er (I write friday) but I have to say I'm a bit relieved to find others who are getting the same scores as me. It's like self punishment coming on here some days and seeing people pulling 36's and 39's. It's so awesome for them, but man alive I have been beating myself up for 30's because everyone else seems to be pulling marks I could never seem to get!

Just one of the reasons I'm going to have immodium, pepto, advil, water, 5 hour energy drinks, cliff bars, and who else knows what other neurotic things I'll decide beforehand haha

AAMC 9 35 13-11-11

Im pretty mad at Bio i honestly thought i didnt make a single mistake . But then again I was suprised by verbal cuz i thought i bombed 2 passages.

Just goes to show you how innaccurate post test feelings are lol

seeing the may 8th folk post their test scores is making me scared. seems like a lot of people got below their AAMC average because of a hard PS section. just took aamc 8: 38 (14, 10, 14). verbal sucks

I'm actually encouraged by this. Lots of people were afraid of bombing the PS section but scored 2-3 points higher than they expected. I was freaking out over the hard PS posts until now. Now I'm just ready (hopefully) obliterate this thing!

Since this will be my second time taking the test, after I panicked the first time, I can tell you that confidence really is the key to success on this test. I know it's hard to not be nervous but when you get to the point that I was at where I straight up had a panic attack during the first section, its so so so hard to come back from that. Do enough practice problems so that you have a source of confidence in yourself, just remember that this test will not conquer you, you will conquer it. You've studied hard for this test, don't let your nerves ruin it for you like they did for me -- if you continuously worry that something is going to happen you have a better chance of making it happen. Stay calm and confident, you've got this.

Your right bro.. i just gotta trust in myself.. thanks! and ya im going to pray before the test lol

Took GS-3 last night after work in wee hrs of the evening. Completely lost it in the very first question on Electrochem. I typically try to knock out the discreet's in the first 10 mins. I was staring at this particular one for like 5 min. And then I moved on. From there on, it was downhill. Way too far behind with time. I was on 17 or 18'th question with 35 mins remaining for the rest. The only hope for me to finish the PS was just do the questions; forget reading the psg. And that's what I did for the last 4 psgs. I did not read any psgs, just glanced at any eqns or figures if they had any and went straight to the questions. And based solely on my knowledge and some peripheral reading of psgs here and there (seriously!), I just clicked the ans. Was surprised that most questions did not even need any reading to begin with. Finished PS with like 6 mins to go and I just ended the test. Had no intention of going over my ans. I was completely overwhelmed with timing on PS and I went straight to the questions. Funny part is I did not need any psg based information to ans them. At least that seemed to be the way with GS-3 PS section. Anyways, checked my score for PS and VR this morning. (11/09). Will finish BS this evening. I know GS VR means nothing but if I get a 9 or 10 with GS VR, I might end up with 5 or a 6 on the actual. That worries me. I am hoping for 8~9 ish I guess. Anyways.....just thought I'd share this with y'all. So excited with an 11 on PS even. So even if you fall behind in PS, just trust your knowledge and go for the questions. Who knows, it may come out all right. I was thinking it will be like a 3 or 4......

At this point I would honestly stop doing any secondary resources for verbal. I stopped with EK for a week and saw my score jump on AAMCs from 9 to 11 because I was more focused on AAMCs and not the BS EK 101 books.

I'm actually ready for this to be over this time. Last time I wasn't prepared and got raped. This time, I feel incredibly prepared, and my test average is 6 points higher lol

i'm in the zone after taking aamc 9: (15, 12, 12). i wish i could take the actual test tomorrow and get it over with before i start panicking.

OAN I'm half way through with the AAMC SAs and they are really helpful. Point out exactly where I need to focus my studying and they're usually simple fixes.

lol catchmoresun...jesus if I could get ONE of your subscores, that'd be greeeeeeeat. Just did GS 7...hard as balls. 9/9/11. Guh.
Being a retaker helps actually, takes a lot of the edge off.

just took GS 4 BS section got a 9... need to stop making dumb mistakes

i just can't wait for this test to be done. i'm going to drink a copious amount of alcohol afterwards

Same here man. Just finished AAMC 10 and did 9 two days ago:
AAMC 9: (13, 14, 12) 39
AAMC 10: (13, 14, 13) 40
Avg: 38

Doing 11 next Tuesday.

I'm now at the point that I am starting to forget stuff as I try to cram more things in my head so I'm obviously at the top of my game. Just hope it lasts for 10 more days!!

blah, think I have to push. Today's FL went awful, with a combination of being overtired, being insanely drowsy from a new medication, and my laptop shutting down mid verbal section, I dropped two points.....

I just want to crack a 30....sigh

I'm in the same boat... it's killing me, I'm psyching myself out so my scores get worse. I have to study the material harder I think I haven't gotten through all the physics yet which is killing me. I feel like I'm running out of time. I already submitted my apps but is it possible to take it again in August and have those scores considered too for fall 2015?

holy macro!......14s in verbal. How did you get there ? What did you do for VR? I am taking it on 07/02 and stuck on single digits....8 or 9....

Damn bro can I have your Verbal scores?? That's consistently my weak spot and I don't know how to improve. What's your strategy?

and @XxSynapsexX idk I thought AAMC 9 bio was slightly harder but wasn't too bad. I missed a couple questions that I got down to 50/50 so that's natural.

Yea I reviewed aamc 9 bio and i think I was getting really cocky and just did not even analyze the questions carefully.. probably why i thought I aced it and only got an 11

I honestly get like 40% of my points back by going back and checking over each question with fresh eyes. That's been my strategy - just speed through it first time around and never spend more than a minute on any question and then go back carefully and check. I finished the aamc 9 PS with like 30 min left and BS with maybe 25 and then used that time to carefully nitpick every question with fresh eyes.

probably won't have time to do this on real exam

why not just get it right the first time? lol i mean a better strategy would be to mark and go back to questions that are just too hard and killing time.

Good luck to everyone in the final stretch! I'm also a June 21st test taker and I am so ready to be done.

Keep an eye out for the June 13th thread everyone lol. June 5th got a hard PS and if June 13th gets a hard Verbal... than you know which section is gonna kill us lol
