That will certainly be interesting. So do you know if it'll be something where you can express where you'd like to go to the student govt body or will they pick at random for you?

Hearing about the clinical side of things is what gets me really excited about LECOM and why it's my top choice. To me, it's the most important aspect of dental school and considering everything LECOM has to offer in this area, it's definitely going to be a school to look for in the coming years. The moving bit is not for everyone though, so anyone considering the school has to be up for the challenge!

I don't think you have much authority to speak about the school when you think it only costs $45,000. Someone's trying to stir the pot.... :troll:

If someone has a question and wants an answer from a D1 student, then ask me or Hawkteeth. We both are D1's. I'm not going to say we will have all the answers, but we do attend LECOM. I also have a few previous posts on this thread (Page 2) that are good points of view about LECOM that you should read if you have any doubts. There are so many things that I find good about LECOM, but the school is not for everyone. But, if you are having all of these doubts, then why would you apply to the school. Also, if you have questions pertaining to the school, the interview is the perfect place to get them answered. Don't be shy, they give you the opportunity to talk to dental students, the dean, and faculty, so ask lots of questions. Interview day is the opportunity for you as an applicant to sell yourself to the school, but the school has to sell itself to you as well. Take the chance to get all of your questions answered.

You alone are in charge of deciding what school to apply to and ultimately attend. Do not let anyone influence your decision to go here who is not even a student or faculty member. If you have doubts, then send me a PM or post a question on here with my name on it and I will get to it as soon as I can.

They won't treat you any better when you're a student either believe me. you forget your security badge YOU'RE GOING HOME to find it or paying $25 for a new one on the spot. it doesn't matter that they have binders filled with everyone's name, face, and class and computerized versions in the security office that they can access quicker than they print up a new badge. it doesn't matter if you have a test or you've been going to the school for 4 years and are on a first name basis with the guard.


i dont' know who in their right mind would go to the LECOM dentistry school and be a guinea pig for an untested and barely accredited program. Why spend $45,000 at a diploma mill when you can spend $10-$30k at a good state school with an established dental school program? there is no cost savings with lecom unless you're comparing to a top 10 ranked school like harvard,

All the students I know who got in on the first year are already regretting it. Heed the warnings or end up miserable like all the DOs and PharmDs 😱😱

I'm sorry but if you had taken a business class you'd know the risks of creating a new dental school. Truth of the matter is that they cannot afford to not get accredited. If they don't they literally lose tens of millions of dollars.

For those with interviews, are you flying into Sarasota or Tampa? Renting a car? I haven't found much of a price difference between the two airports. I'm not sure how spread out things are in Bradenton and if you would be alright using the shuttle service listed in the email and calling a car to get you to your hotel.

I had 4 credits from an AP course I took in high school and another 4 from a 200 level english comp. Hope you get it sorted out, it sounds like you've fulfilled the requirements. Were both courses through the english dept?

Yes besides poetry and drama planed; also I have my first europian bachelor degree in philology. Just received email from them that my app is complete and being reviewed. Still missing English course work ... Mystery 🙂

Same here! I still don't get how some people in first batch got interviews and some didn't. Guess they liked other ppls apps better haha =/

I just booked all of my stuff two days ago. I am flying into Tampa, got a really great deal ($300 round trip from LAX) and am renting a car. It was around $550 to fly into Sarasota, plus the times didn't work out so well. And booked my room at the closest hotel to the school - ask for the LECOM rate!

Good work scouting around! I went through expedia and got a great flight/hotel/car combo from sat-mon for about $480. I'm flying into and staying in Sarasota, but with a car I'm not too concerned about the 20 min drive to LECOM.

CALL'EM, I had the same problem, then I called TWICE until finally someone spoke to me. They claimed that they did not receive my payment until today (after 20 days of paying). 5 minutes later, the Application process email magically appeared in my inbox.

I am going to be a senior next year and will be taking Biochem first semester. Because I have not yet completed that course, does that mean that I will not receive an interview? I thought you just had to have pre-recs completed by the start year?

I didn't get an email, but my status on the LECOM portal says "Thank you for confirming your intent to attend the scheduled interview at LECOM Bradenton School of Dental Medicine, we look forward to meeting you." So I guess they confirmed that I confirmed my interview.

I called them to re-schedule, since I am out of the country until August 29th and was able to reschedule on the phone.

I checked my portal and saw that it had been changed to "Thank you for confirming your intent to attend the scheduled interview at LECOM Bradenton School of Dental Medicine, we look forward to meeting you." So I guess I've been confirmed as well. Good luck everyone!!

P.S. Anyone with September 12th interview interested in going to Disneyworld/Harry Potter land!? 😛

Yeah, that would be a huge bummer. I am still waiting to see my status changed to interview date confirmed, but I am not worried. Based on what I have seen on this thread I am sure their admissions is trying to catch up and help frustrated students. Just make sure you don't delete the sent copy your e-mail provider keeps. 🙂

I was wondering the same thing. I have one LOR processed but I was wanting to get a letter from one of my professors from my Master's program..problem is I haven't even started the program yet. I have another LOR but I think from the Master's would be stronger. Is there any advice on this? Should I just send in the one that I have?

just wondering if anyone is in the same boat i am right now -- my aadsas was mailed 6/28, not sure if thats first or second batch or whatever, but i think its pretty early. i've heard from all my schools that my application has been received EXCEPT lecom. i haven't heard anything about supplementals or even heard that they've received my aadsas application, but i see lots on here who've completed supplementals and who are getting interviews already. does everyone applying to lecom get a supplemental or is it selective? i thought everyone got one, but i'm starting to worry a bit. my stats are relatively good, so i feel like i wouldn't have been thrown out of the applicant pool this early already, but then again you never know haha i'm wondering if i should email or call to check, but i don't want to pester the admissions office. any advice/help would be appreciated! thanks! 🙂

Check your spam folder, often stuff will be stuck in there. Call them tomorrow morning if nothing comes of that.

Definitely give them a call, they are one of the most applied to dental schools and they have been really busy the last few weeks dealing with orientation and all of us D1s. Also their portal system is pretty bad so definitely want to make sure you didn't get lost in the system. And like the person before said, make sure you check your spam folder every single day for the next year, I almost missed an interview from another school last year because of that.

Nothing has been entered into the "Required Letters and Credits" tab on LECOM's portal.

I called and emailed LECOM about the missing LORs and credits. I got the generic answer that they are processing applications and to be patient.

Same thing shows up on my portal and I was 1st batch as well. A few days ago my portal finally got updated and now it says that they've received everything except my Committee Letter/LOR...so I don't really know what's up.
I'm assuming since they put everything in manually and there are a lot more applicants this year, it's going to take a long time before we see any update.

yeah i called them too and honestly they weren't very pleasant to talk to, i was a little put off by this 👎
