I have an upcoming interview that I scheduled for post-Dec (they initially contacted me in September). What should I anticipate for my interview? All the posts I’ve read were about how *casual* and conversational the interviews were, which makes me even more nervous for some reason. Is the interview 1-on-1 or 3-on-1?

Casual 1 on 1 interview. Normal interview questions. Nothing to fret about. They make you feel comfortable.

So I got waitlisted here and the email they sent to inform me ended with "I wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors"...is this how everyone waitlist email was worded?

When did you get waitlisted/ the waitlist email

My sister goes to nova for audiology. Just gonna leave this here.

Care to elaborate? Is there difference between people who were waitlisted at different times?
There is simply a priority waitlist and from what I hear the earlier your adsaas updated or if admin reached out you're higher on the waitlist.

So if I received an email earlier than someone else on December 3rd, that means I'm higher on the priority list? Or is it between days

Just sent the email to decline my seat!
Hopefully one of you on the waitlist hear back soon!

I think days, there mist likely is more to it thiugh than just the time of when they sent you the email. They have their own preference too which probably plays a bigger role than just what time you get an email

Every dental school has a ranked wait list. From previous years each school knows exactly how many applicants will accept and how many will decline their offer of admission. Based on past history they calculate and make decisions on how many applicants to call with an additional offer. Many dental schools keep almost all applicants they interviewed on the wait list until January-February and then will send out declines to most of them in February and March keeping a very small wait list ( about 10). (this is due to the deposit timelines)
By April applicants with offers must declare only one school and can't keep multiple offers so few more spots open up then.
Overall, if you are still on the wait list, you can be offered acceptance until a few days before school starts.

can anyone confirm if nova students have a hard time finding patients and mostly have to go hunting in order to finish the requirements on time?

i think they do have to find their own patients. i remember at my interview someone mentioned waiting outside a publix and passing out their business card

sorry to be that person but Ive noticed some of you havent posted your stats. For those that dont mind and applied please do, it'll benefit the rest of us having to apply next cycle!

Also has there been anyone who has been accepted with a 3.4 GPA and a 19 AA ? asking for a friend lol

Elusive011: Maybe, but for sure as an exception at NOVA. NOVA's stats for last year were higher GPA 3.6+ and DAT 21 . As their current dental student, I heard the person involved in the admission process say that they are aiming to make offers to applicants with at least 20/21 DAT.
your DAT score is easy to fix, just study more (make sure you use proven study material) and repeat the DAT test, important to get high scores in Science sections , if you get above 21 your GPA could be acceptable. If you can't get higher than 21 on DAT then take some extra courses to bring your GPA to at least 3.5
all the best!

In every dental school you need to acquire patients and maintain them so it is sometimes a burden. Some schools get patients from lower income bracket or even recruit homeless but then these patients tend not to come back for follow up visits, and if your school is in a good neighbourhood then patients have insurance and go to their regular dentist because their treatment is covered. There are so many factors involved, it also depends on the students personality. I heard about these issues from every dental school.

From Midwestern AZ too?

So very true!
if you want to know more read this essay on the ADEA website:
Life of a Third-Year Dental Student: The Good, Bad and Ugly

Just want to add more: if you are accepted to only one school take it. If you have a choice then list what is important to you and rank it then decide based on your own preference ranking. Some students want low tuition at any cost (so chose in state public school) , some want to learn on new, 1st class dental equipment (mostly in private, expensive dental schools, as most public schools have low budget to replace and update equipment) some want lots of patients ( best for schools located in low income high populated communities like UDM), some want to just become dentists and nothing more( than do not chose schools like U Michigan where emphasis is & expectations are on completing dental research) . Each school organized their program differently (e.g. at NOVA you take the 1st board exam after D1 and 3rd and 4th year are mainly clinics which I really prefer)
Everyone has different expectations so decide based on what you want.

Thanks for the feedback! Great to know this kind of information now rather than later! I will PM you

to people who are waitlisted: are you sending updated transcripts directly to nova, or just updating them on the aadsas portal? I just finished 3 required courses this fall so I want nova to see them sooner

For those who have accepted and paid the deposit, have you heard anything more from the school or received any other packages in the mail?

Dentalgirl02 : You have a block on your profile. I can send you conversation on "why NOVA" but you need to 'allow it"

Hi!! Could you please share this with me as well? Thank you so very much!

Nope. I was just paranoid I may have been missing something haha.

Did you get anything in the mail in regard to an acceptance? I was accepted but I never got an official letter.

Yes, on December 3rd I received an acceptance letter in the mail and information about how to pay for the seat deposit.

I got accepted with 3.23 sGPA, 3.47 oGPA, 23 AA, and 24 TS! I was so nervous about not getting accepted with my GPA but I am proof that there is hope!

Thats great news, glad to see this! Crazy scores on your DAT! Hoping I can do the same! What resources did you use to study?

Would've PM'ed you but its not letting me.

Does anyone know how to pay the acceptance fee?I can't seem to find a link for it anywhere.

Has anyone heard back today regarding acceptances? Last year’s thread shows that some people were getting accepted on Jan 2 at noon.

Last year the deadline to deposit was Monday January 1st. So it makes sense that people were hearing on Jan 2

This year the deadline to deposit is tomorrow so most likely people will be hearing on Friday

There is a link they provide for you to type in. It is on one of the pages you received in the mail from your acceptance.
