Almost dropped a small barbell on my foot actually lol.

I haven't called yet, charging my phone. I noticed you're looking for hotels, don't hesitate to look at hotels outside of nyc, like in any of the boroughs. The transportation here is very efficient and NYU is easily reached by train. Its an easy as paying for a metro and just waiting for your stop.

I booked the Clarion. It is right around the corner and came out to be $120 with tax. Pretty good deal!

How are the interviews at NYU? What types of questions do they usually ask - is there a lot of focus on ethics in the interview??

Mainly talking about yourself. You may get the equation of a time you dealt with an ethical situation. But every interviewer is different from what I heard. I had an awesome lady who was very personable. We talked a lot about my up bringing surprisingly and about stuff from my application!

I sent my app in the beginning of august and still haven't heard from them... uhmm is anyone on the same boat as me? lol :dead:

I'm on the same boat! have you heard anything back since your last post?

I would send an email out in a week or two giving an update on your situation (community service, work, shadowing hours), showing interest. I checked the last nigh cycle threads and its usually the first week or two of november where they stop giving pre december interviews.

@Faux I remember applying to NYU and it's listed under one of my school designations on AADSAS, but it recently disappeared under my "School Decisions" tab. So....does that mean that I've been rejected? I'm so confused....What happened?

In one of your nyu emails, they mentioned that they will not be updating aadsas. They are not in my school decisions tabs either.

Anyone interviewing on October 28th that might want to split a room?

Hey everyone I am a Canadian student. I applied to NYU and recently called the admissions officer told me that they are happy I am interested in the school and that they will notify the executive admissions team to get my application under review faster. Obviously, my application was not under review at the time yet because I got my DAT in much later than everything else for reasons out of my control..What do you guys think are my chances given these scores and what the admissions office said.

Canadian DAT: Chem (17), AA (20), pat (22), RC (22), bio (20), TS (19) Manual dexterity (21) so the way they look at it 20,22,22,19.

American GPA out of 4: Total = 3.82, Science = 3.69, BCP = 3.67, Non-Science = 3.94.

I think you have a great chance. I interviewed there in September and we have the same DAT (20AA, 19TS, 22RC, 22PAT) but your GPA is higher than mine. They interview a lot of applicants and I think are friendly to international students, so I think you'll hear back in due time.

I hope so and thanks! How was the interview? Is it true that it is a group interview?

A bit late but anyone interviewing Oct 31st want to share a room? I already booked and stuff so just pm me

Hey guys,

Last Friday I got an interview from NYU. My stats are far from stellar, though (2.98 BCP, 3.27 Overall + 21 DAT). I think what got me an interview were my shadowing hours, experience, essay, and all of the non-academic parts of my application. What I'm worried about and somewhat pessimistic about is when I interview on November 11th, am I immediately behind applicants with higher stats (AKA everybody)? I'm gonna do my best but it's hard to eliminate that idea from my head. BTW, this was my first interview. Not sure if I'll get another...

Any advice or info would be gladly appreciated. Thank you.

They actually accept a lot of students they interview. You should feel extremely proud that you gotten an interview. You stood out, even with your numeral stats. You walk through that door with your head up high.

I agree with with Faux. They selected you for an interview because they already like you on paper. Go in there confident and you'll do great!

I got an interview invite email this morning, called them a couple hours later and they wanted me to come in this Friday. I said I can't and scheduled for next Wednesday, November 5th. Anyone else going on the same day willing to split EVERYTHING? This is my first time in NY and the city and it's quite pricey and intimidating.

I will post my stats, and time tables when things settle down on my end...hopefully within a couple days.

im interviewing this Friday! should I be concerned about the supplemental application that I have to complete during the interview? I don't know what to expect or how to prepare for that.

Not really. It's very short and the front side is mostly for statistic use (updated addresses, dent pin, other schools applied to.. etc). You can't exactly prepare for it lol. They give it to you first thing and you just need to make sure to turn it in before you leave. Good luck!

Noooooooo. Don't be pessimistic. Interviewers have a sixth sense and they'll know something's up when they see you fidgeting nervously.
...With that being said, the NYU interview is -extremely- relaxed. From my observations, they even *try* to set students up with an interviewer who shares a common interest (mine was photography). Focus on things you're passionate about and good at. Be sure you can hold a casual conversation about whatever it is you like. I was asked questions like "why dentistry" but it wasn't anything nerve wrecking. Your grades got you an interview, your personality will get you an acceptance. Good luck.

Exactly 1 month and 2 days from today is when we'll get our acceptances. Be confident, folks! 😀

Thanks for the info! I appreciate it!

When I interviewed, an admissions officer said there are about 500 interviewees for 380 seats. That seems a little off to me- does anyone know if this is right?

Dude they interview 15-20 people 5 days a week starting in august and ending in feb/march. Adds up to a lot more than 500 interviewees.
Dudeeeee they don't. They interview 12 people per day. And some days not everyone shows up or spots are not full, so they end up having only 10 or 11 PEople. Idk where you got 15-20 from , but that's my correct

Cheers

I recently interviewed there and was told this. Even if they only interviewed 10/day that's well over a thousand applicants.

They started interviewing the week of September 8th. so if they interviewed 10/day for 12 weeks (time till december 1st), then that's around 600 interviews. Since their class size is around 300 something people, interviewing that many applicants makes perfect sense pre-december. and if more than 50% decline the offer (which is likely due to costs, etc) then that's when they do their post-dec interviews. Their rough estimates make sense to me.

Yes, 600 to Dec 1st sounds right, but I'm talking about total applicants interviewed. Which is over a thousand.

I was so happy that i got an invitation this week, but 600 pre December?? Anyway from what I understand, there isn't a huge differance between pre and post December. One is not more competitive than the other..

@bluemt0211 were your able to schedule your interview pre- or post-december? just got an invite today.
If you call today, you will get Nov (pre Dec).
I wanted to have it post Dec since I have multiple interviews with other schools already on Nov, plus I live far from NY 🙁.
But really.. I don't mind to be post Dec.

I'm trying to get post-december as well for the same reasons. Thanks!

Sounds like you don't understand what rolling admission is.
Well I know what it is and how it works. What I meant is that they do not require post-Dec to have hire stats. Of couse you will compete for the limited spots, but if your stats are good and you do your interview well, then there is no reason for them to turn you down. Pre dec means that your file will be reviewed more times than post dec.

Make sure you call them and let them know you want to do the interview in Dec for the reasons you have. Otherwise, you will be disqualified for the interview after a week from today.
